Chapter 8 Who Is Helping Her

Soon, the news about the return of the missing young lady of the Harper family and her taking over the company directly hit the headlines in the entire Adephia.

Caroline was in her office, checking the projects under their company when her phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Miss Harper, there is a private order. The client wants to pay fifty million for us to design a wedding dress for her. Shall we accept this order?"

Caroline said lightly, "Yes. I'm going to Serenity Design this afternoon. Make an appointment with the client."

"Okay, Miss Harper."

After hanging up the phone, Caroline went back to the documents she was checking. And she suddenly froze.

When she came back to her senses, she asked, "Is Ximena the heroine of Tale of Talia?"

The assistant nodded. "Yes, Miss Harper. It was decided by the producer and the director. She will sign the contract this afternoon."

"Ximena is a pianist, and she has no acting skills at all. How can she be a heroine of this play?"

Ximena was now a popular pianist. She had released many records and had many fans. She had made a movie before, and Caroline had watched it. She could say that Ximena's acting skills were very bad.

Caroline said, "Inform Ximena that she won't be signing the contract this afternoon. We need someone else."

"Miss Harper..."

"This play is our biggest investment this year. We will be spending hundreds of millions of dollars, but the heroine is not even a real actress? Her acting skills are really not recommendable at all. How much did Ximena pay the director and producer to get the role?"

"I'll deal with it right away, Miss Harper," the assistant said quickly.

Caroline didn't mix personal grievances with work. It was really true that Ximena didn't deserve to be the heroine.

After dealing with Horizon Entertainment's affairs, Caroline had lunch and went to Serenity Design.

Five years ago, Ximena stepped on her hand in the hospital. She was severely hurt that she could no longer play the piano. But fortunately, she was smart enough to come up with another idea. She studied fashion design abroad. Then she established Serenity Design three years ago.

As soon as she arrived at Serenity Design, her assistant, Nola Marshall, reported the work to her and said, "Miss Harper, Miss Shipley is waiting for you in the reception room. She is the client who wants you to design a wedding dress for her at a high price."

Caroline nodded slightly and went to the reception room. Two people were sitting inside, Ximena and Damian.

Caroline's face darkened at once. But Ximena was even more shocked when she saw Caroline.

Nola introduced Caroline, "Miss Shipley, Mr. Mayson, this is our CEO, Callie."

Caroline turned to Nola and ordered, "Nola, you go out first."

It was only then that Ximena recovered from the shock. She smiled and said, "Caroline, I didn't expect that you have become a designer. That's great, then. Damian and I are getting married next month. I want you to design a wedding dress for me."

As she spoke, she held Damian's hand, still smiling. But Damian remained expressionless and said nothing.

Deep inside her, Ximena was about to go mad with anger. She had already sent someone to investigate Caroline, but there was no result yet. After she hurt Caroline's hand, she thought Caroline must be living a miserable life now.

But much to her surprise, Caroline became a designer. And she was the famous Callie. She had a noble identity!

Caroline didn't mind Ximena's flamboyant tone at all. She just said coldly, "I'm sorry, but I won't take the order. You two can go now."

"What? But why?"

"Because I don't want to."

After saying this, Caroline stood up and left the room arrogantly.

"Damian..." Ximena called out softly. Looking at Caroline's back, she was so angry that she gritted her teeth.

"Let's find another company," Damian suggested.

Ximena nodded dejectedly. Then something suddenly occurred to her. "I still can't believe that Callie and Caroline are one. But where did she get the money to start a company?"

When Damian heard this, he was also confused. When he and Caroline divorced, she didn't take a penny with her. So who was helping her?
