Chapter 7 Abortion

When she heard her daughter's confession, Josie nearly lost her balance. She had to take a step back to lean against the wall for support.

"What happened?" she asked in a shaky voice.

"Mom, I..." Rosina felt too ashamed to speak out the truth. Tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably.

"Who is the father?"

Josie knew very well that her daughter had never had a boyfriend at school. How could she have gotten pregnant?

Rosina bit her lower lip and lowered her head, unable to say a word.

"Why aren't you answering me?" Josie grabbed Rosina by the shoulders. "You can't have this child. We're going to the hospital right this instant!"

"No!" Rosina struggled and broke free from her mother's grip.

But no matter how hard Rosina begged, Josie refused to change her mind. That same day, she took Rosina to the hospital.

There, Josie left Rosina in the corridor to get the test report.

Sitting alone on a bench, Rosina covered her stomach with both hands and sobbed silently.

"Oh, Caldwell, I'm fine. Relax. It's just a minor burn." Sonya was wearing a black bodycon dress, which accentuated her curvaceous figure perfectly. A suit jacket was draped over her shoulders. Walking beside her, Caldwell was wearing a white shirt with his sleeves rolled up, revealing his muscled arms.

"You might get a scar if the burn's not treated properly," he explained patiently.

Sonya raised her head and looked at the man. "If it does scar, will you stop loving me?"

"Nonsense!"

Sonya giggled like a high school girl.

Hearing the familiar voices, Rosina slowly raised her head and saw Caldwell and the woman walking towards her slowly.

They looked like a match made in heaven.

Realizing this, Rosina felt like a clown.

"Next! Rosina Bentley!" The door to the operation room suddenly swung open and the nurse called out her name.

It was too late for Rosina to hide.

Hearing that name, Caldwell turned around. When their eyes met, he frowned.

Seeing the words "Operating Room" over the doorway, Caldwell furrowed his eyebrows.

What the hell was this woman doing here?

She pretended to care about the baby very much in front of him this morning, but now she was having an abortion?

Following Caldwell's gaze, Sonya looked over at Rosina.

The moment she saw Rosina's pale face, she felt that she looked a little familiar, but she couldn't quite place where she had seen the girl before. Curious, Sonya then asked softly, "Do you know her, Caldwell?"

"No." Caldwell looked away briskly.

Caldwell painted a picture of Rosina in his mind. She was a promiscuous and wild woman who had gotten herself pregnant before marriage. She pretended to love her child in front of him, but now she was having an abortion behind his back.

What a scheming woman!

Rosina stood up awkwardly, bowed her head, and followed the nurse into the operating room.

Noticing that Caldwell looked angry, Sonya gulped uneasily. She pulled his arm and called out his name softly. "Caldwell."

With a stony expression, Caldwell said coldly, "Let's go."

Holding his arm tighter, Sonya glanced over her shoulder at the door to the operating room. Her eyes darkened.

Judging from Caldwell's reaction, Sonya reasoned that he wasn't telling her something. But Sonya had been with him for so many years now, and there was never any other woman in his life.

So who was that girl just now?

How come she had such an influence on his mood?

"Caldwell, that girl just now..."

"You don't need to worry about irrelevant people," Caldwell said indifferently.

Without asking any more questions, Sonya decided to tuck this matter to the back of her mind for now.

In the operating room, seeing the steel equipment, Rosina flinched in fear.

"Please lie down," the doctor instructed.

"I won't have the operation." Rosina shook her head and ran away.

She ran so fast that she failed to see where she was going and bumped into a man.

Rosina stepped back in a hurry and quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, sir..."

"Rosina?"
