Chapter 3 Put Up An Act

After getting changed, Rosina came out of the fitting room and looked at the left fitting room, only to find that the door was closed.

"It suits your temperament very well," the shop assistant complimented her.

When Perry saw Rosina in the light blue dress, he nodded in approval and went to pay the bill. To his surprise, the dress cost over thirty thousand dollars. But thinking about how she was about to meet the Walsh family, he gritted his teeth and paid the bill. "Let's go," he said coldly.

Lowering her head, Rosina followed him into the car.

The car pulled into a neighborhood of beautiful villas.

When the car stopped in front of a magnificent villa, Rosina flashed a sarcastic grin.

While she and her mother had been scraping by in that foreign country due to her brother's condition, her father and his mistress had been living happily in this huge villa.

"Why are you just standing there?" Perry looked back and asked impatiently.

Rosina came back to her senses and hurried to catch up with him.

A servant approached and said that the Walsh family hadn't arrived yet, so Perry told Rosina to wait in the living room.

Next to the French window was a beautiful piano. It was a famous German brand and was very expensive. Her mother had bought it for her on her fifth year old birthday.

She liked to play the piano when she was a child. However, ever since she was moved to that foreign country, she hadn't touched a piano since.

Rosina couldn't resist stretching out her hand and pressing a key. A melodious and clear sound came out.

The familiar feeling warmed Rosina's heart slightly.

"Who said you can touch my piano?" An angry voice sounded behind her.

Rosina turned around to glance at the girl indifferently.

This was probably her half-sister. Sure enough, she had inherited her mother's good looks.

But at this moment, her face was contorted in anger and resentment as she glared at Rosina.

"Your piano?" Rosina's eyes flashed coldly.

They had destroyed her mother's marriage and enjoyed all the things that should've been her mother's. Now, this girl even had the gall to claim this piano was hers.

"You... You're Rosina?" Tiana Bentley pursed her lips.

Tiana could still remember the day Perry sent them abroad. The ten-year-old Rosina was on her knees, begging him not to send them away.

"Are you glad that Dad brought you back?" Crossing her arms over her chest, Tiana looked at Rosina with disdain. "I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. The only reason why Dad brought you back is to marry you into the Walsh family. The man you're going to marry is..."

Tiana covered her mouth and snickered.

Marriage was by no means a trivial matter. Wouldn't her life be ruined if she married such a man?

Rosina frowned deeply.

"Sir, the Walsh family are here," a servant suddenly came in and announced.

Perry hurried out to receive them personally.

Rosina stood up and waited for them to come in. Soon, a man in a wheelchair was wheeled in.

Rosina's eyes went as wide as saucers.

Wasn't this the man she saw in the fitting room?

He was Mr. Walsh?!

But back in the store, she could clearly see that the man could stand on his own. He even held that woman in his arms with ease.

What the hell was going on?

"Rosina, come here. Let me introduce you to Mr. Walsh."

Perry shoved Rosina in front of Caldwell and said with a flattering smile, "Mr. Walsh, this is my daughter, Rosina."

Frowning, Caldwell looked Rosina up and down.

Before his mother died, she always talked about the marriage between him and Miss Bentley. He didn't dare to go against her will. So after getting bitten by a snake, he deliberately spread the news about his impotence in the hopes that the Bentley family would break off the engagement.

Caldwell kept silent. The longer he looked at Rosina, the gloomier his expression became. Perry thought that Caldwell was dissatisfied with his daughter, so he quickly said, "She's still young—only eighteen years old. I'm sure she'll be a beauty when she grows up."

Caldwell smiled meaningfully. "When I went abroad for business, I got into an accident. I'm afraid I can't walk now, let alone satisfy my wife."

"I don't mind," Rosina replied without missing a beat.

Perry had promised her that as long as she married into the Walsh family, he would return her mother's property. Even if she got a divorce the day after their wedding day, she would still agree now.

Rosina quickly figured out what was on Caldwell's mind.

The reason why Caldwell came to the Bentley family in a wheelchair was that he wanted the Bentley family to break off their engagement. And he was doing all of this to marry the woman Rosina bumped into in the clothing shop.

What Caldwell didn't expect was that Perry was more than willing to sacrifice Rosina to fulfill their end of the promise.

Caldwell narrowed his eyes at Rosina.

Rosina felt a chill run down her spine. She bit her lower lip, holding back her bitterness. It wasn't like she actually wanted to marry into the Walsh family either.

But if she backed out now, how could she get back what belonged to her mother?

She forced a smile. Nobody knew her struggle. "We were engaged ever since we were children. No matter what kind of person you've become now, I should marry you."

Caldwell's eyes darkened. This woman turned out to be quite eloquent.

Perry didn't notice that anything was off and cleared his throat. "As for the wedding date..."

Staring at Rosina's pale face, Caldwell said, "The wedding will push through."

Rosina lowered her head to hide her emotions. She didn't dare to look at him. Obviously, he was dissatisfied with the marriage arrangement, too.

"If Rosina runs into any problems in the future, please give her a hand," Perry said, laughing heartily.

He was overjoyed. He was marrying his plain-looking daughter into the Walsh family.

Thinking of this, Perry bowed slightly and said in a servile manner, "I've asked the cook to prepare dinner for you. Please have dinner with us before you leave, Mr. Walsh."

"No, thanks. There's something I have to deal with." Caldwell refused without hesitation.

Caldwell's assistant, Tyson Wilde, turned his wheelchair around so that they could leave. When passing by Rosina, Caldwell raised his hand to signal at Tyson to stop.

Caldwell looked up at Rosina and asked, "Are you free now, Miss Bentley?"

Although it was a harmless question on the surface, Rosina found herself unable to refuse his domineering tone.

So she nodded. It seemed that he wanted to say something to her.

She, too, had something to say to him.

Perry cast a warning glance at her and hissed, "Behave yourself."

Rosina pretended not to notice him and followed Tyson out.

When they were alone, Caldwell turned his wheelchair around and locked eyes with Rosina. "You want to marry me even though I'm disabled? Miss Bentley, it seems that you're not a picky woman at all. What do you see in me? Is it my money? That must be it. You want to live carefree as a Walsh, don't you?"

Rosina's scalp tingled under his intense gaze. She feigned a calm expression and shot back, "And what about you? Why are you pretending to be paralyzed from the waist down?"
