Chapter 4 Please take me back

Selene arrived back at home and found the door locked, she knocked on it countless times and after a while her father opened the door.

“You have some nerves to come back here” Leo was furious by seeing her face. When he said he had disowned her, he really meant it.

“Dad, please take me back, I cannot go back there” she pleaded with him.

Selene had refused to go back to the Mount Villa, she refused to be with a man she doesn’t love and yet the man she loved would be with another woman right in the same house.

“You should have thought about that before you cheated” Leo stated.

His mind had been made up, he was so close to becoming rich again but she just had to ruin his plans for him with her scandal, what better way to punish her than to take her off the family name.

Mary suddenly appeared behind Leo folding her hands,

“Mom, please talk to dad, you know I would never cheat on Dante.

You know how much I love him” she begged her mother hoping she would have some sympathy for her.

“You heard your father, you are no longer a part of this family” Mary answered hurting her.

If Selene had been told that her family would disown that way without believing a word she said, she wouldn’t have believed them. Now that it was happening, she thought it was a dream and she might soon wake up from it.

“Go back to your husband and never come here” Leo warned her pushing her off the porch, Selene stared at her father’s dreadful eyes, there was no ounce of love for her.

It looked just the same as when Dante accused her of cheating.

“Dad, I am your only child, do you want to break all the connection you have with me over this.

You choose to believe someone else over your own daughter” She said shocked by how he was reacting to her.

This was a man who had brought her into the world and taken care of her and yet he would deny her that way.

“Dante wouldn’t accuse you of that if he didn’t have proof” Leo answered.

“And where is this proof of yours, did you see it yourself, did you see it with your own eyes before judging and accusing me like everyone else” she lashed back at him.

Leo was silent for a minute, it was true that he hadn’t fact-checked the truth and just followed what he heard all because it was Dante who accused her.

“Do I need to check when he only speak the truth, he would never lie over such things” Leo finally gained what to say and Selene was hurt by those words.

She wondered how gullible he could be to believe Dante over her, was it because he was rich and has been helping their family ever since that he would trust him blindly.

“Dad”

“Leave this place immediately” he warned and slammed the door on her face.

Selene sat there for hours hoping he would change his mind and let her in, he had always forgiven for anything she did after a while and she thought it would be the same too.

After waiting for five hours, no one opened the door for her and she lost hope that he would ever forgive her.

She returned back to the Mount Villa where she met Shedrach and Emily seating outside discussing.

“I thought you won’t be coming back” Emily’s harsh words were the first thing she heard as she walked in.

Emily had always been rude to her from the first day she met her, she never cared that she was in a relationship with Dante before, all she cared about was that she was going to stain her family image so she hated her.

Selene could bet that she was among the happiest people who was glad the engagement between her and Dante didn’t work.

“Leave the poor child alone, she is already going through a lot” Shedrach stood up for her.

“There is no need to act soft, she deserves all that is happening to her.

Did you think you weren’t going to get caught” Emily asked raising up her chin to look at her.

“Emily” Shedrach barked her name and she let her be.

He walked up to Selene and raised her head to look at him.

“Now that you are married to Matteo, you have just one job.

Make sure that he doesn’t humiliate the family, I don’t care how you do it” He ordered her and Selene found that as an impossible task.

How was she going to restrain a man who never cared about anything in the world but himself, Matteo was known as the black sheep of the family. He was even rumored that be the illegitimate child of the family, he was dangerous and loved getting into fight, his business was crumpling and he never cared about that.

He acted cold to every single person and now she was tasked to restrain him, worst of all she was married to him.

“Do you understand?” He asked her and she nodded her head.

Selene excused herself and was directed to Matteo’s room, once she opened the door, she found him staring at the ceiling and he didn’t seem to care if she walked in.

Selene closed the door and just stood there without uttering a word, she was never familiar with Matteo because he was the coldest person to her, sometimes he would even bully her and not care about the consequences.

He gently stood up from the bed,

“Listen here pig,

Don’t dare think I care about you being here, as far as you stay away from my issues then you can live peacefully here but if you don’t then you will regret it” he warned standing directly in front of her as he spoke.

Selene had no choice again than to nod her head in response, now she was given two contradicting orders. On one hand was Shedrach ordering her to restrain Matteo and on the other was Matteo, her new husband warning her to stay off his business.

“You will sleep on the couch” he said pointing at the blue couch just by the wall, it was long enough for her and she was cool sleeping there than sleeping on the bed with him.

“Do I make myself clear?” He questioned.

Selene seemed to have lost her voice and could only nod her head.

“Can’t you speak you pig?” he yelled making her jump in fear.

“Yes” she answered.

“Good” he said and left the room.
