Chapter 3 Captured cont...

The wolf with the blackish-blue coat growled, giving the other wolves the signal to stand down, and although the other wolves did as they were told, one wolf continued to advance anyway.

At this point, it was only animal instinct; I saw a wolf staring at me with malice in its eyes, and I knew what would come next.

He jumped on me from the ground and was ready to leap on me with eyes that seemed like they would kill me. He probably was going to kill me.

What the heck was going on? The army guys stood watch, becoming anxious, and were ready to attempt and stop the wolf that came at me, but they were late.

Do something, you fools; if you wanted us to die, we would have already been dead if you had your way!

When I met the wolf in the air, it was chewing its front paw, and the furious glitter that had been in its eyes had been replaced by a wounded one. I catapulted myself off the ground and got it there.

You'll learn not to meddle with Eva, thanks to your master, Neeson! Haha, that'll teach you to be rude to Eva!

The only sound was the howling of the wolf that was standing next to me, and when I turned to look at the other people in the room, I saw that they were all watching me, or more accurately, watching to see if I was going to kill him or not. It fell to the ground sobbing as I stood next to it.

I wouldn't do that, though; I'm not a person who commits murder. What if he had a family? Or maybe he worked for Santa Claus? I wouldn't do that.

One of the wolves bit the tip of my ear, and another one bit me somewhere on my back. The wound on my neck had already healed, but these new wounds hurt like hell. I took a step back and looked each one in the eye before the large group of wolves jumped to attack me, except the black one.

I saw one of them racing full-speed toward Ethan, who was still breathing with his eyes open but had a horrifying look. The people in the army said something that sounded like "don't injure the youngster," but by that time, I had moved on from that.

I exploded out of the confined space that the other wolves had cornered me in and ran full speed towards Ethan, knocking every other wolf out of the way who dared to try and stand in my path.

My whole being pleaded with me to relent and give up, but I could not, and I refused to do so.

Not if some crazed wolf kills Ethan.

Ethan spoke in a tone just above a whisper and said, "Eva...."

As I squeezed harder and harder against the wolf, a roar emerged from my chest. The wolf started to howl in agony and attempted to struggle against my hold. I attacked the wolf with my body and seized his neck in my jaws in the nick of time.

The coalition has a victory to celebrate!

I caught a glimpse of the army soldiers grabbing Ethan's corpse out of the corner of my eye.

After that, everyone's focus shifted to me in the room.

No, you can't have him! If you do, I'll render you both infertile, you fat humans!

After the guy from the army had finished speaking to the black wolf, he turned his attention to me.

After releasing my grip on the wolf, I kept one paw on its chest to prevent it from running away while keeping my eyes focused on Ethan.

Then I felt another severe pain in my neck again, but the agony was coming from behind me this time. It was a paralyzing vote, similar to what I had previously given.

I was so weak that I really whimpered. I could hardly move.

That was a significant blow to one's sense of self-worth.

It felt as if someone had shot me because the pain shooting through my neck was unbearable.

Where my shoulder blades meet my neck.

Without my having been aware of it in advance.

And if it had been Santa Claus, I would have ripped him to shreds with my bare hands.

My eyesight began to blur, but it was not because I had fallen asleep. The wolf that had bitten me gently let go of my throat while keeping its jaws open as if it was required to eat me.

I was resting on my paws, doing my best not to show any sign of weakness; I didn't want to give them the upper hand by allowing them to see that I was defeated. Once the wolf let go of me, I didn't move since I knew that even moving would result in another attack.

Then I felt someone's hand pressing against the back of my neck.

This was the end; just put me to rest now!

Instead, someone covered me with a large blanket and left the room.

"Shift back, now," the soldier in the army, who appeared to be the chief, commanded in a loud and authoritative voice.

One more time, try to issue a command to me!

He directed his glare in the direction of Ethan while clenching his fist.

I'm glad they wrapped a blanket around me because otherwise, I wouldn't have listened to them when they told me to return to my human form. I was adamant that I would not change back into my human form while naked.

As I shifted back into my human form, the hand pressing on my neck let go, causing me to groan in agony. It hurt when you were injured and shifted back into your human form.

I had to blink a few times before I registered that I was nakedly sleeping on my stomach with a large blanket covering me.

As I struggled to stand on my unsteady feet, I forced myself up onto my elbows and grabbed the blanket covering the rest of my body. At the same time, someone held my upper arm, which I assumed was done so that I wouldn't escape.

My whole body ached, and I didn't believe I could make it 15 miles without fainting out. As if I could!

I followed the hand on my arm to a soldier in the army, and as I did so, I rolled my eyes and thought to myself, "I could change right now and tear his head off, but I suppose they didn't. Think of that."

I don't even believe I can shift right now, not after the 20-ton assault of fat I just defended myself against! Holy hell! I don't even think I thought of it!

My chin was pulled toward an elderly man who appeared to be in his late 50s. He had a strict appearance, but he did not have the pedo look that many other elderly men had.

He continued, "Evangeline Bowman, I imagine," which caused my jaw to tighten so that I wouldn't cuss him out right then and there. Evangeline Bowman was my best guess.

I pretended to smile sheepishly and said in a grave voice, "No, it's your mother."

That got me a smack across the face, and I practically fell back as the soldier released go of my hand and seized my back and left hand, leaving my right hand free to defend myself.

He spits it out as I knew he would, and it sounded like he was talking to a freshman who had just transformed into a sophomore. "My mother was the woman you are ten times," he said.

I massaged the side of my face, staring daggers into his skull as I did so. I'd gladly put some daggers into his head.

"Listen to you. I have spent the past three years looking for you, and I am relieved to be able to go home finally. He had a firm hold on my arm when he said this.

When he let go of my left hand, which was holding onto my blanket, and touched my face with my right hand, he gave me a severe look.

I approached him cautiously and saw that he was smiling as if he believed I was going to listen to what he had to say. In reality, I should have "Followed his instructions."

I responded by saying, "I am not sorry," which caused him to look perplexed on my face.

I made a fist with my right hand, pulled it back, and hit him in the face, causing him to fall backward as blood started to come out of his nose.

I didn't even strike it with my whole might; I'm sure I simply tore a blood vein or something; it's not a big issue! God, that guy was such a drama queen!

I gave her a wry grin and said, "This is what happens when you insult a lady like your mother."

The troops surrounded him, concerned for his well-being and uncertain about what action to take next.

"George! Darts! "

After a brief period of dismay, the answer suddenly presented itself in the back of my mind in the form of darts rather than reasoning.

My whole frame began to slide to the left, like a dart being shot right through the middle of me.

They reminded me of those Indian darts, goddamn it.

I instantly whirled around and braced myself for the battle, ready to use whatever power my body still had.

"Derek!

" The army commanding officer, who I've chosen to refer to as Fry because his name tag reads Fredward Dallas.

I was under the impression that you liked me, Fry.

" I debated whether or not to appear hurt at Fry.

"Please! I said, "I'd rather..." before being seized from behind by a strong and warm hand, at which point I felt the dumb dart puncture into the flesh of my stomach.

I hurriedly removed it, but it was too late; there was enough poison to kill a mammoth or even Santa Clause!

The effect was taking place, and as it did, I felt the weakness in my knees, and then I felt someone grab me in their arms, and then they started walking away from me.

I glanced up at the person holding me and saw chocolate eyes. He had black hair that went a little further than his ears...or was that his nose. His mouth? That was about all I noticed through my foggy vision. I looked up at the person carrying me and saw chocolate eyes.

Wait a minute! What the heck the hell was really in those darts? Some kind of hallucinogenic tranquilizer for bears?

Where exactly are you going to take me, you big pickle?

"I believe his name was Derek,' I said, blinking my eyes to shake the sense that I was drifting off to sleep.

"Night Academy," he said, averting his sight from me and looking forward instead.

"Ugh! After three years, is this the best you can do for me? To return to hell after having been such an angel is unthinkable. " I said.

Sleep was tugging on me hard.

It seemed like an earthquake when I felt his chest tremble as he appeared to laugh, but now that I think about it, I'm not so sure.

This time, he responded in a hushed tone, "Sure."

I had just finished closing my eyes and was ready to enter the shadows when I heard my voice saying, "Wait! I know your fragrance! You are the scumbag that bit me, aren't you? "

I realized that he was the black wolf, the one who had caused Ethan's injuries, but the darkness had taken control of me, and my thoughts had vanished into thin air.
