Chapter 6 PABLO'S REACTION.

••• A MOMENT AFTER •••

We arrived at the hospital and the nurses took care of her. For my part, I was sitting in the waiting room. A moment later, a doctor comes to me. He was the one who took care of the old woman.

« Hello Mr. PASOLINI » he said

« Hi doctor. How is this old woman? » I asked immediately.

« To be honest with you, her condition is really critical. She must undergo surgery immediately because one of her bones in her thigh has been displaced. » said the doctor.

At the end of his statement, my heart began to beat precipitously. I was really scared.

« Do something doctor. I wouldn't want her to die or lose those limbs. » I added

« Don't worry Mr. PASOLINI. Be really quiet. This old woman is in good hands. We will do our best to keep her in good shape. » said the doctor.

I then wanted to visit her but the doctor let me know that she was sleeping and that they were going to take the opportunity to operate her. Instead of leaving, I decided to stay in the hospital until she woke up.

It was 1 p.m. when my phone rang. I glance at this phone and I see that it was the owner of the apartment I rented. I pick up without hesitation.

« Hello sir ! Good evening. What can I do for you ? » I immediately asked

« Hello Louisa ! Where are you ? My wife had an accident just now. » he answered

« An accident ? Where and when ? » I asked hastily.

« I had gone out shopping in a supermarket and so I was walking back down the street just now with my dog ​​when a neighbor in the neighborhood informed me that my wife had been run over by one of the children of Carlos Pasolini. If I call you it's because I know that you work in one of their companies and I would like to file a complaint against this bad family. » he said angrily.

« Making a complaint for an accident? I think this is not the best solution. By the way, how is your wife? » I replied

« I don't know how she's doing but I know she was taken to Umberto I Hospital. I'll go see her in a while. I have to go to the police first. » he said.

« Thank you for informing me sir. But I would like you to calm down. For my part, I'm going to leave what I'm doing and go visit her. » I answered

At the end of our conversation, I hung up.

Indeed, the owner of the apartment I rented is a good person. He helped me a lot to settle comfortably in the Italian capital. Learning that his wife was knocked down shocked me a lot. They are like my family and I love them. Although today is my first day at work, I walked out of my office without telling anyone. I took a taxi and went to the hospital. A few minutes on the road later, I arrive at Umberto I. I then go to the reception room and ask the secretary for information. Just as I was about to receive answers, a gentleman approaches me. He was well dressed and he smelled good.

« Hello Miss. Are you a family of old woman? I ask you this question because I overheard your conversation with the secretary. » He said

« Who are you to meddle in what doesn't concern you? » I replied violently

« Wow ! Sorry. My name is Pablo PASOLINI and it was me who brought the old woman you mentioned earlier here. I knocked her over and it was unintentional on my part. » he said

As soon as I heard his name, my heart started beating.

« PABLO PASOLINI? Are you the son of Carlos PASOLINI? » I asked quickly

« Yes that's it. I am the second son of Carlos PASOLINI and I am ready to assume the consequences of my act. » He said

I stared at him for a long time without saying anything.

« Are you doing OK ? » He replied after touching my shoulder.

Immediately I came to my senses.

« Yes I'm dong well . Actually, the woman you knocked down isn't related to me. She's the wife of the owner of the apartment I rented.» I answered

« All right miss. Nevertheless, I am sorry for what happened to this woman. I wait for her to wake up to chat with her. That's the only reason I'm still here and she's sleeping now. » added Pablo

He was talking to me politely until a man in a white coat came out of an operating room and walked towards him. It was a doctor and the two men began to discuss. I didn't know what they were talking about but I could see sadness in Pablo's eyes. Immediately, I approach them. I wanted to know what they was talking about.

« What is happening ? » I asked

As the doctor was about to answer me, a male voice said :

« He is the killer. He ran over my wife »

I turn around and I see that the owner of the apartment I rented had also come to the hospital. Unfortunately he was not alone. The press was with him and there were enough people.

« But who are these people? You are in a hospital here. » said violently the doctor who was with us .

« I know we are in a hospital but this killer almost killed my wife. It was him who knocked her down. He must be judged. » said the owner to the media.

After his statement, Pablo frowns and then replies :

« Please sir, don't call me a Killer. Know that I am innocent. Really, I didn't knock your wife down on purpose. I was indeed driving very fast but apparently a young man was chasing her and in her race she came hastily to get in my way. Now what's done is done and instead of condemning me, you should thank me for taking her to the hospital. If I was a Killer I was going to run, but I'm not. I stayed to bear the consequences of my act. »

At the end of his remarks, security arrived to dismiss the journalists and calm returned to the hospital.

For my part, I tried to calm the owner of the apartment I rented. Then we went to sit waiting for the right time to visit his wife. I especially appreciated the way Pablo reacted to the media and to the accusations made against him.
