Chapter 6 Can You Come To Accompany Me

Knowing that Elmer and Leona went back to the Hayes family's old mansion tonight, Aurora planned to call Elmer to feel out his intention. She didn't expect that he really had no intention of going to the hospital to accompany her.

She bit her bottom lip and lowered her voice, making her sound weak and pitiful. "Elmer, can't you come to accompany me?" she almost begged.

"It's not convenient for me," he answered. "Listen, I'll come and see you tomorrow." His tone was both soft and firm at the same time.

She knew he was serious and wouldn't take back his words.

Aurora had no choice but to agree obediently and tried her best not to show a trace of unwillingness until she hung up the phone.

She then put away her phone. Standing at the gate of the hospital alone, she looked so weak and thin.

The dim light of the street lamp fell on her face. There were hatred and jealousy visible in her eyes.

"Leona, just wait and see!" she murmured to herself as she gnashed her teeth. "Don't think you can win this time just because you have someone backing you up. As long as you're with my man, I'll make sure you won't live a peaceful life!"

She raised her chin and turned to the driver. "Take me home," she ordered.

She was actually fine. She just wanted to find an excuse to meet Elmer.

Since he couldn't come over to visit her, she had to carry out the next step in her plan.

When she returned home, she saw her mother making a cake in the kitchen. "I've made your favorite cake! It's almost ready!" her mother said to her.

Instantly, Aurora's eyes lit up.

That was exactly what she wanted.

"That's great! The cake you make is always the most delicious," Aurora said as a sweet smile swept over her face. She licked her lips and waited with anticipation.

When Tiana Barnes, her mother saw this, she smiled happily.

Aurora was the apple of her eye, and was willing to do anything to make her feel satisfied.

"Ding!" the oven sounded. The cake's smell wafted up from the kitchen. After a few seconds, Tiana came out of the kitchen with the cake in her hand. She cut a piece and handed it to Aurora.

"I know you've been on a diet recently, so I didn't put much sugar in it. Go ahead, taste it!"

Aurora's face softened. "Thank you, mother." One bite of the cake, and her face suddenly changed.

"EW!" she spat as she covered her mouth and rushed towards the bathroom. She leaned against the wash basin and began to vomit.

Aurora's sudden explosion scared Tiana stiff. She hurriedly followed Aurora and supported her with her arms.

"Aurora, what's wrong with you? Don't scare me like that!"

After a while, Aurora looked up.

Her long silky hair was in a mess; her face looked pale; and her eyes were red, with hints of tears bubbling in the surface. She looked so haggard and pitiful.

Despite that, her voice was still exceptionally calm. "Mother, I'm fine. Don't worry."

"How can I not be worried?" Tiana snapped back. "Is there something wrong with your stomach? I'll call the family doctor right away to check on you!" Tiana took out her phone. She was about to dial the doctor's number when she felt Aurora's hand on her wrist.

Tiana shot a confused look at Aurora who had already concealed the momentary gloating look on her face.

Aurora bit her bottom lip. She lowered her voice and pretended to be shy. "Mother, I'm pregnant."

For a second, Tiana was stunned. Then, she grabbed both Aurora's hands and said, "But you're not in good health! What did the doctor say about your condition?"

Aurora shook her head and forced a smile. "It doesn't matter. Elmer's very kind to me and often comes to take care of me."

Hearing that, Tiana's only concern was assuaged. A broad smile took over her face as a warm feeling swelled in her heart.

Now that Aurora was pregnant, she was finally going to have a grandchild!

Ever since she found out that Aurora and Elmer were in a relationship, she had always looked forward to such good news.

Now, her wish had finally come true!

Tiana carefully assisted Aurora to the sofa. Then, she poured her a glass of warm water and said, "From now on, you have to do a better job of taking care of yourself. Since he already knows about it, did he tell you when he'll get divorced?"

Her words made Aurora's hand tremble, making some of the water almost spill out of the glass.

Her eyes cast downward, she was pretending too embarrassed to look at her mother in the eye. "I don't think it's easy for Elmer to get divorced right now," she explained. "This evening, he went to his grandfather's house and was asked to stay there."

Only now did Aurora look up at Tiana. With a frown, she continued, "Mother, you know that his grandfather has always liked Leona. If he doesn't agree to let Elmer get divorced, then Elmer couldn't do anything about it."

As soon as she heard this, Tiana's eyebrows knitted together. "Did that bitch complain about it in front of his grandfather, intending to make the old man disagree the divorce?"

Aurora flashed a bitter smile. "Leona just likes Elmer too much. I know how sad she'll feel if she divorces him. I understand," she tried defending her sister.

Not only did this make Tiana feel sorry for Aurora, it also made her feel angry towards Leona. The more Aurora spoke for Leona, the more furious she became.

"Just because she likes Elmer, does that give her the right to ruin your relationship with him? At the time, you and Elmer were a perfect match for each other, but she decided to recklessly meddle in your relationship and married him! Don't worry. This time, I'll help you deal with this matter."

Then, Tiana bolted out of her seat and stomped her way upstairs.

As Aurora watched her leave, she leaned back against the sofa. Her lips formed into a smile, as a fierce look flashed in her eyes.

In her mind, she thought that Leona couldn't defeat her.

All she had to do was take advantage of the baby in her belly that was fated to die before it could fully develop. She could easily win against Leona this way.
