Baron sat up and leaned on the wall next to him after hearing Liz call him a number of times, his eyes were still sleepy and he held onto his pillow tight, feeling a little cold, tired and stressed out.
He ran his fingers through his messy curly hair and rubbed his cheeks still feeling so sleepy.
"Am sorry I slept so much today." He apologized to Liz but she was not paying attention to him so he thought she was perhaps a little annoyed with him that she had to call him for so long before he woke up.
Liz was seated on her bed lost in thoughts and Baron kept thinking that she was ignoring him on purpose.
"Am sorry, I swear I hadn't heard you till you called louder." Baron apologized again and Liz brushed it off by looking away from him as she was trying to hide the situation that was at hand.
Angie had just kicked her out without saying anything about Baron. How was he going to stay in such a house where every single thing had changed?
So Liz had come up with a plan in those few minutes after the altercation with Angie to sort Baron out as she knew Living him behind would be the worst idea.
The 900$ Douglas had given her was still in her bank account untouched and her thoughts were to split it into half and put Baron into a cheap school for a semester.
And she was to use a third of the remaining balance on herself and keep the rest for the upcoming months as she navigated the town life and all it had to offer.
"I guess this is the end of school for me..... Have to get a room and a job."
Liz blubbed to herself and pulled out her suitcase and started packing all her belongings.
Baron had gone to brush his teeth and when he got back into the room, he didn't understand why Liz was packing his stuff too.
"Are we going somewhere?" Baron asked doubting if they would even be able to go to their father's or mother's place.
Liz kept packing his stuff silently as he observed, noting that something was indeed off about the way Liz was behaving that morning.
"What could be wrong?" He thought to himself but couldn't find an answer so he kept watching her do the packing and rearranging of the room.
When she was done packing, Baron was seated on his bed that was on the floor wondering what Liz was upto, after a few minutes of silence, she turned around looking very distressed and informed him of the next thing they were supposed to do,
"Dress up, we need to go around now and get your school admission today."
Admission? It's one week away from the official opening !
Baron debated with Liz on why it was necessary for them to wait a little longer but Liz rejected and yelled at him to keep quiet.
"Get dressed and carry your suitcase out."
Baron could not hesitate anymore so he did as Liz commanded. Since their childhood, Baron would always follow Liz's words as she was his closest person and a mother-like figure to him.
"Do I dress black and white?" He asked and Liz snubbed at him
"Anything!"
He chose his sunday wear and went out with his suitcase to the gate, stood there for a while wondering what in the world was happening.
"Why is she treating me like trash all of a sudden?" Baron couldn't find a reason as to why Liz was changed all of a sudden.
The feeling of hopelessness engulfed him more because Tito, the gateman who always cheered him whenever he came back from school had been asked by Angie to go to the farmlands Max owned in another town and to work from there as a laborer.
"Are we going around with these things like this?" Baron asked Liz politely as he feared to irritate her, she was looking disturbed and out of focus and was dressed in her jumpsuit, something she only wore indoors or when they were out in the late evening.
"Naah I already got you a hostel, we just need to find an affordable school."
Baron was surprised and impressed at the same time. He had also come to understand that his posh classes were never coming back unless Max had returned.
"Oh my goodness... Thank you Liz."
They both got on an uber and went straight to the hostel that was a little further from Angie's home, more like a 30min drive.
During the whole drive, Liz's mind was running from Aarush to Baron and Max.
Her life was now so independent without these three men who were always like the bright sun for her.
Baron sat at the front at Liz's request, she just wanted to be alone and quiet for sometime.
"Aarush and Baron can't know a thing."
Liz picked her phone from her pocket and texted Aarush that she too had been abruptly asked by her principal to start her campus classes earlier.
"Don't you see destiny favoring us?"
She teased him in the text and slid her phone back to her pocket to focus more on the journey.
Aarush and his Dad, Mr. Khurana were still on their journey to the city, as much as Aarush desired to check on his phone with hope that Liz might have texted him, his father's stern warning about staying away from the phone during the whole trip replayed in his mind.
So he kept conversing with his uncles throughout the journey until when they had reached their house.
"300$ for two terms including holiday stay and meals." The matron at the Dimitris Boys Hostel bargained with Liz and she knew it was a good offer, Baron had walked around the hostel and had liked it.
"I can handle this." He assured Liz and a small bed space was allocated to Baron and he was quick to make some buddies on spot.
"Arrange your things before we go out to shop."
"Ok." Baron was left in the room with his new roomies who supported him in setting up his own locker and net stand.
The boys were in the same age bracket as him and were newbies too.
Liz went on to have a private time with the matron in her office to explain her financial situation to her.
"I might fail to keep up after 6 months but here is my ID. Hold it as a guarantee I will come back. If he falls sick, call me and don't allow him to sleep out."
The woman was so kind that she refused Liz's tip for accepting Baron at a cheap price.
"Daughter, keep it or leave it for him. 300$ is mine."
"I don't know how to thank you Madam but thank you so much."
Liz left the hostel with Baron and was able to locate a cheap school for him nearby the hostel, she made a downward payment for two semesters and bought him all the basic supplies he needed including his Phone bill and some pocket money.
"Do not go back home unless I have told you so." Liz warned Baron and he concurred fearing to disobey her.
When it was late afternoon, she left Baron at the hostel to go get herself a cheap room in the suburbs and when she found one without much difficulty, she moved in immediately wondering what the coming days were going to be like.
Atleast Baron would be covered for 6 months and by then, she would be prepared for his other semesters.
"Where do I get a job now?"
With only 180$ remaining, Liz plopped back on the thin mattress that she had got at the local market after getting directions from her new neighbors, her mind was all filled with worry yet with an excitement unknown.
Her suitcase was with Baron and nothing else was in the room except for her basic needs.
