Chapter 5 Aunt Suzan

Ding ding ding, a notification rang on Susan's phone. She was working that afternoon and having lunch with her colleagues.

She sat up in her chair and unlocked her phone to see what kind of notification she had received.

"Hello auntie." The first pop-up came and it caught Susan's interest because Liz wasn't around her and was one of the kids in the max house who hadn't had any conversations with Suzan yet in a long time.

"What could she want from me?" Suzan wondered and paused for a moment to try to figure out what Liz was doing.

"Hey honey, what's wrong?" Suzan texted Liz back and waited for a response as she took her lunchbox off the table and returned to her desk.

"Hey, she just texted me." Liz told Baron and he also came to read the text out of curiosity.

"Don't rush to say everything... Go slowly but surely." Baron advised Liz

"Yeah, I know. Wait...And keep calling mom and dad." Liz reminded Baron.

"Oh yes."

Baron started calling Saed their dad and thankfully he picked up but asked them to talk later because he was in a noisy place.

Baron then called Kisti and when she picked up the phone they started to have a long conversation and Baron went out of the room onto the balcony to give Liz some space.

"Hi auntie, I'll get straight to the point because I know you're busy and maybe you've heard some rumors about what's going on here with Angie."

Suzan stared at the text and raised her eyebrow, doubting whether this was a different story or some commonplace gossip she could guess.

"Oh my god, what is this girl doing?" »

Suzan picked up the phone and wanted to call Liz but chose to only text.

"Tell me what's going on there, how can I help you?" Suzan answered Liz and leaned back in her chair, smiling at the possibility of a scandal at her father's house.

"I was never considered an important person in that house." Suzan remarked and touched her chin with two fingers of her right arm as she grew increasingly intrigued about the news Liz was about to tell her.

Liz decided to talk briefly and directly with Suzan because the two were not close and did not regularly communicate with each other.

"Auntie, Max is nowhere to be seen and Douglas, the delivery guy who used to take us to school, now lives at home with Angie. Our school starts in a few weeks and I have less money. and Baron is back. If you would please talk to Angie to help us with all the money we need."

Suzan read the message twice, rubbing her chin with her palm and giggling wondering if Liz was trying to hook her up with Angie.

"What is all this nonsense?" Suzan wondered and texted Liz asking for more details as the rumor seemed too good to ignore.

After a few minutes thinking about the whole matter while waiting for more messages from Liz, she left her office and went to the company store for more privacy because Liz had sent some audio messages that she knew needed to be heard in private.

"What did dad say?" Liz asked the Baron.

"That we should talk about that later because he's busy." Baron answered Liz and she smirked because she always had the feeling that Saed always pretended to care about them but he didn't care at all.

"That's what he is." Liz told Baron and continued to check on her conversation with Suzan.

Baron cleared his throat and decided to share the conversation with Kisti.

"Mom said..."

Liz interrupted Baron before he could finish his sentence.

"I know, stop talking, she has no money blah blah blah..."

Baron sighed and went into the living room to check if Angie was still there but he found her walking out of the house with Douglas.

Both were wearing beach clothes and he had a funny feeling about them but decided to ignore it. Baron went back to Liz's room to inform her and see if Liz's mood was good or not.

"Liz, Angie just went out, let me prepare lunch." Baron suggested and Liz agreed, so he went to the kitchen and made some lunch because he felt things were no longer available to them as they were before Max disappeared.

Baron cooked a quick lunch and then kept some of the remaining food on the charcoal stove for their dinner, knowing full well that Angie would scold them for cooking without her permission, but also knowing that hiding the food would make the results worse.

Suzan continued to listen to every audio message Liz had sent her and it made her extremely excited because trouble was lurking in her father's house.

"He always called me an idiot." Suzan said of her father forgetting that he always meant her many past relationships, not her integrity.

"Wow, Douglas and Angie! That's amazing..." Suzan exclaimed repeatedly as she headed back to her office, texting Liz that she was sorry about the situation at home, but she was going to take care of the matter and also talk some sense into Angie.

"You're a smart girl and I know you'll get through this and Douglas won't get it."

Suzan continued to flatter Liz and it all made Liz so happy because she thought Suzan was serious and quickly called Baron to share the excitement.

"What is it?" Baron asked as Liz entered the kitchen calling his name.

Liz gave him her phone to see the messages Suzan was sending them back.

"Oh my God...." Baron jumped to his feet and thanked Liz for the positive outcome of her talk with Suzan.

"I pray that she means it all." Baron added and Liz looked at him with a smile on her face that showed how much she cared about him.

"I won't let you drop out of school. Your dream is my dream." Liz told Baron and he thanked her for being his elder sibling and rushed to serve Liz what he had prepared.

After the "nice chat", Suzan asked Liz to be patient and wait for her message the following day as she was going home to take care of her small farm and herd.

"You know what city life is like!!" Suzan texted Liz and Liz accepted.

"Yes but thank you very much. Take care and good night. I will wait for your response tomorrow."

Suzan replied with a love emoji and went offline.
