Chapter 8 I Won't Get Pregnant, Will I

Eric Carter was a well-know ladykiller in Angel City. As Aunt Anna had accepted his money, he would definitely not let go of Mary Miller.

"God damn it. How could this happen? Stop worrying, Mary, I will stop her. Hide well, and I'll go back in a week after arranging everything here. Don't be afraid. I will protect you. Don't be afraid..."

Scott Wood kept comforting the woman.

Mary still could not stop herself from crying. Her fate had changed dramatically in just two days. She felt confused and was clueless that how she could deal with the happenings.

Scott, who claimed to come back within a week, was then her only hope.

Mary logged in her PayPal account on Mike Johnson's phone and received the 10,000 yuan her cousin transferred to her.

Scott told her to hang in there and that he would come back soon to stop the evil marriage arrangement.

It was Mary's blessing that mobile payment was quite popular in Angel City.

Mary initially wanted to stay at a hotel. However, she was turned down as she did not have any identification on her. Instead, she checked in at a small hostel, whose rules were not strictly implemented.

The room was quite cozy and well equipped with an independent bathroom and Wi-Fi.

Mary lowered her head and noticed that there were seminal stains on her body. She thought nervously, "I won't get pregnant, will I?"

She swiftly took a shower and planned to go out to buy some contraceptives. At that moment, the cell phone rang.

It was Mike Johnson's phone.

The screen displayed Hank Cook's name.

Mary guessed that it must be from the man who had raped her last night.

She was right. When Mike woke up, he found that the woman had disappeared.

He got out of the bed and looked for her everywhere in the villa. He failed and then fell into a rage.

Also, he noticed that his phone was missing. After checking the surveillance, he realized that Mary had gotten out of the house with his phone early in the morning.

Staring at the beeping device, however, Mary dared not pick it up.

When the man made a second call, she answered it, pressing the phone against her ear and keeping her mouth shut.

Mike's mellow voice immediately came from the other end of the line. "How dare you run away from me?"

Mary felt slightly guilty as she had taken the man's phone. "Sir, I'll give your stuff back to you soon. Before that, however, could you please lend it to me for a few days?"

Mike answered her straightforwardly in an angry voice, "No! Come back immediately. Immediately!"

Mary hung up, her heart pounding violently.

After sitting quietly for a good while, she finally came back to her senses.

She had to go out to buy birth control pills and some clothes.

For fear that she might meet people she did not want to encounter, Mary bought a hat to shelter her face from being seen.

She used the money her cousin had transferred to her to pay the bills.

For the next two days, Mary stayed in the small room at the hostel.

Scott called her during the period and comforted her one more time that he would come back immediately after all the paperwork.

Mary consoled herself that there was at least one person who still cared about her. Her father had been away from her for twelve years. Anna Lee, her aunt, told her that the money her father had left behind was not close to sufficient.

She thought, "Even though that's true, I can pay back the money they invest in me when I enter the workplace. Why do they sell me to that man!"

"Uncle Frank has always been nice to me. How could he have nodded at Eric Carter's request? How much money has that man given Uncle Frank to convince him to push me into the fire pit? He and Aunt Anna must have been aware of the fact that Mia actually drugged me on that cruise ship. Otherwise, she would not have gotten the guts."

They all abandoned her.
