Chapter 2

At the police station's registration department, the staff checked her documents.

"Miss Jordyn, are you sure you want to change your name to Dorothy?"

Jordyn nodded, "Yes." "What's the reason for the name change?"

"I wanted a name that felt more like me."

As an adult, she didn't need anyone's approval for a name change.

The staff quickly completed the process and informed her, "In seven business days, your new name will officially take effect."

"Thank you."

Just as Jordyn stepped out of the registration department, she ran into Brice.

He embraced her anxiously, "Jordyn, where have you been? Why couldn't I reach you on your phone? I was worried out of my mind!"

Behind him was a group of police officers.

One of them joked, "Alright, you've found your wife, you can relax now."

Another officer casually remarked to Jordyn, "Your husband was frantic trying to find you. When you went missing, he nearly lost his mind. We had every officer out looking for you. Luckily, with the surveillance, we found you at the registration department."

Brice asked her, "Jordyn, what were you doing at the registration department?"

Jordyn replied calmly, "Nothing much, just updating some information."

"When the police checked the surveillance, they also saw you went to the hospital today. Are you feeling unwell?"

Jordyn raised her head to look at the man who loved her more than life itself.

Why did he love her so much yet still have an affair with Brad?

Was it because of the life-saving grace from half a year ago that he felt he owed him his life?

Or did he truly fall in love with Brad during those six months?

Even though he had regained his memory, did his love for Brad remain?

"Jordyn, why aren't you speaking?"

Jordyn gently pushed him away, her voice indifferent, "I'm not unwell, I just went to check my blood type."

"Why did you check your blood type?"

"So I can donate blood whenever someone needs it."

Brice breathed a sigh of relief, "You also went to the registration department to update the blood type on your records, right?" "Yes."

The heavy stone in Brice's heart finally settled, "Our Jordyn is so kind-hearted, always thinking about donating blood to save lives."

Back home, Brice became even more reliant on her.

Brice insisted on holding Jordyn's hand whenever possible, even when it was inconvenient.

During meals, despite the awkwardness of using chopsticks with his left hand, he would still grasp her hand.

Jordyn said, "Let go, it's inconvenient this way."

Brice held her hand even tighter, "I won't let go. I'm afraid if I let go, you'll disappear on me."

Jordyn sighed.

His comforting words would soon prove eerily prophetic.

In seven days, she would completely shed her identity as Jordyn, officially adopting her new name and embarking on a brand new life.

... and completely leaving him behind.

After dinner, Brice sat with her on the sofa, watching a reality TV show.

He peeled grapes and placed them in a crystal bowl, offering them all to her.

Suddenly, his phone rang.

He grabbed a few tissues to wipe his hands and went to the balcony to answer the call, looking guilty.

When he returned, he kissed her lightly on the cheek, saying, "Honey, there's an urgent matter at the company, I need to go."

Was it Brad calling him?

Urging him to be with her and the child.

Though Jordyn had mentally prepared herself, hearing him lie still stabbed her heart sharply.

She nodded, "You should go."

Brice hugged her, "Stay home tonight, I'll be back in the morning."

"Okay."

Brice grabbed his coat and almost sprinted out of the house, driving away.

Meanwhile, Jordyn, as if compelled by some unseen force, opened her tablet and launched an app.

This app was connected to Brice's car recorder and could synchronize the current status of the car.

His car was driving normally on the road away from home, but the sound of the phone call was clearly transmitted: "I'm on my way, wait for me a bit longer."

Brad teased, "Jordyn didn't find out, right?"

"Don't worry, she won't find out."

"How about we spice things up tonight?"

Brice's breathing became noticeably heavier, his voice hoarse, "You're still pregnant."

Brad's voice was so coquettish it could melt, "When we went for the check-up today, didn't the doctor say the baby is doing well? It's been three months, the baby is stable. Honey, ever since I got pregnant, it's been so long since we've been together. I miss you... "

"You little minx, " Brice spat fiercely, "Just wait! I'll deal with you properly tonight!"
