I watched Shane turn around and storm away and I instantly had the urge to go after him and explain myself.
"Shane. Wait!" I called after him, gathering my wedding dress and attempting to go after him when I felt someone's hand around my arm, stopping me in my tracks.
I turned around and my eyes went wide with horror when they landed on the person who had held my arm.
"Ian," I gasped, my heart sinking lower in my chest. Could things get any worse?
The last person I expected to see at my wedding was my ex-boyfriend whose heart I broke viciously only a few days ago.
"What in the world are you doing here?!" I whisper yelled, my voice filled with extreme urgency and alarm.
Ian's eyes narrowed at me and his expression was anything but friendly. I deserved it. If I was in his shoes, I would equally feel betrayed.
"When you told me you were getting married, I thought it was some kind of joke, but it turned out that you were actually serious." He began, letting out a humorless laugh which made my insides with so much guilt.
"Ian-"
"Let me speak!" He yelled, unfortunately attracting the attention of the people around which was the last thing I wanted.
I had already attracted enough attraction for the wrong reasons earlier and it looked like it was happening again. Why in the world was I so unlucky on my wedding day?
"After everything we've been through, Celia, how can you just leave me to go marry another man?!" He continued, raising his voice this time and I couldn't help but feel self-conscious as people were already starting to stare.
"After two years, Celia! Two fucking years! Did the time not mean anything to you?! How could you leave me for him? You didn't even waste any time before marrying him? You have been cheating on me with him all this time, haven't you?! That's the only explanation for this!"
Ian bellowed at the top of his lungs and my face flushed red with embarrassment as gasps rang clear around the area as the crowd began whispering amongst each other.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Ian managed to spin the narrative and make me the bad guy at my wedding.
I knew I was the bad guy for dumping him, but I didn't break up with him and get married because I was cheating. I did it to save my father's company and he knew that!
I opened my mouth to speak, but everyone's eyes were now on me and they all looked at me with total disgust on my face.
"Can you believe her guts?" I heard someone say.
"She left that nice man to be with that psycho? Why the hell would she do that?"
"Isn't it obvious? She is after his money-"
"Can you believe her? Pouring wine on her sister. Cheating on her boyfriend and following men around for money. Could she be any more shameless?"
"I should not have come to this wedding after all-"
I heard the whispers flying around and anything I wanted to say died on my lips at that spot.
Ian took several steps towards me and whispered in my ear.
"You bitch. Did you think you could get away with breaking my heart?" He spat with so much venom in his voice that I was completely taken aback.
He never talked to me this way. What suddenly came over him?
"Just so you know, I fucked Nora while we were together. So many times than I can count," I let out a horrid gasp as his face turned dreamy, an evil smirk playing at the corner of his lips.
"That woman was wild. I couldn't get enough of her."
"How could you?" I whispered, my heart shattering in my chest as eyes glistened with tears.
Ian simply shrugged as he continued whispering in my ear. "Can you blame me though? You were so boring in bed. Just damn awful." He said, scrunching up his nose in disgust before winking like he did not just ruin my life.
I could only watch as he turned around and laughed.
"Done flirting with your boyfriend yet?" I heard a baritone voice growl behind me and I turned around to see Shane looking at me with a stone cold expression on his face.
I quickly wiped the tears from my eyes, sniffing.
"It's time to go home. Or would you like to go with him, seeing as you're teary eyed and all," He spat and I instantly winced at the harshness in his tone.
Shane was so harsh and merciless and it took everything I had not to break down and begin crying. He turned around and stalked away and I instantly went after him to avoid getting scolded again.
People whispered as I walked behind him and I heard the words "slut" and "whore" tossed around loosely.
A small whimper escaped my lips as my eyes filled with tears once again. I had never felt so embarrassed in my entire life.
The wedding turned out to be an absolute disaster and my husband hated me even more now.
As if proving me right, Shane shook his head. "Embarrassing." I heard him mutter under his breath, but it was still loud enough for me to hear.
From the corner of my eye, I spotted Nora who had conveniently changed her wine-stained dress and was now dressed in an equally beautiful lavender one.
I recalled Ian's revelation and my hands clenched into fists as I gritted my teeth. I always knew that Nora was evil. She was the devil's spawn, but I never thought she would stoop so low as to sleep with my boyfriend.
She gave me a mocking smile, winking at me and the urge to rip her head off her shoulders grew strong.
"Get in the car." Shane's harsh voice instantly snapped me out of my reverie.
