Chapter 4

When Dinah decided to marry Jeffrey back then, many people had objections.

They thought she was utterly insane to decide to marry a guy after she'd only known him for three hours.

What no one knew was that Jeffrey was Dinah's lifeline.

She was contemplating suicide when she saw him.

And when Dinah asked Jeffrey to marry her, Jeffrey quickly agreed.

Everything fell into place naturally. They fell in love, got married, and started a company together.

He got used to telling her where he would go before going out.

Dinah learned how to be a good wife.

Those who initially doubted them praised them later as perfectly suited for each other.

But only they knew that they were almost like strangers when they got out of bed.

For some reason, Jeffrey started to change in the past few years.

He came home later and later, and rumors of his affairs reached Dinah's ears more frequently.

Yet Dinah didn't mind because only Jeffrey could give her what she truly wanted.

But now, everything was shattered.

Dinah composed herself and returned to the hospital room, only to see Jeffrey's pale face.

"Why do you want a divorce?" he asked. He pressed his lips together and raised the document in his hand. "Your lawyer just handed this to me."

Dinah raised her eyebrows. "Haven't you already been with Rose? "She resembles that woman so much."

Jeffrey said, "Rose and I are just friends, and I'm already married to you."

He wanted to say that he would be faithful to their marriage, but he realized that Dinah wasn't listening to him.

"Dinah!" He shouted, "I'm speaking to you. Can you at least listen?"

Dinah snapped back to reality. "Sorry. What did you say?"

Jeffrey took a deep breath. "If you mind, I can take you to meet Rose in the future."

Dinah shook her head. "I don't mind."

At that moment, Jeffrey had already removed most of the bandages, leaving only a small piece at the corner of his eye.

But even that small piece prevented Dinah from seeing his eyes clearly.

Dinah took a deep breath. "Jeffrey, I know you well. I realized she means something different to you, so a divorce is for the best. I truly wish for your happiness."

Jeffrey didn't speak for a long time.

After a while, he said in a hoarse voice, "Dinah, I truly love you. Rose is just my friend. Can we not divorce?"

He kept repeating the same sentence. He seemed to be trying to convince Dinah or himself.

His fingers clenched and unclenched under the blanket repeatedly.

The IV drip had been finished, and blood even flowed to the tube, but he felt nothing.

He didn't understand why he cared so much about Dinah.

In fact, he only loved that woman.

Dinah shook her head firmly. "We have to have a divorce."

Jeffrey's heart suddenly lifted and then fell heavily. The pain almost broke his composure.

It took him a long time to say, "As you wish."
