Chapter 4

After Hobson was discharged from the hospital, he returned home. Kenia approached him with a folder in hand.

"Sign here."

Just as he was about to ask what it was, the phone on the table rang.

Kenia handed him the pen as he answered the call and signed the document simultaneously.

"Alright, I'll come over right now. I'll have someone contact the property manager to find out why the power is out."

Kenia didn't need to think at all. She knew who was on the other end of the phone.

Hobson hastily grabbed his suit jacket and, before leaving, told her, "Tell my assistant that if he ever sends you to get my signature again, he'll be fired."

She knew he would assume, as always, that it was an urgent document from his assistant, entrusted to her for delivery.

The door slammed shut behind him, and Kenia flipped to the first page of the folder, her fingers tracing the bold letters-Divorce Agreement.

She laughed-a laugh of relief.

Hobson hadn't given her many peaceful days, and this day was no exception. Early in the morning, a large group arrived downstairs with an overwhelming amount of luggage. Kenia stood on the stairs, watching the scene unfold with her hands in her pockets.

Eliana looked up and, upon seeing her, immediately spoke up.

"Kenia, I'm pregnant. Hobson said it would be easier to take care of me if I moved in. You don't mind, do you?"

"I couldn't care less."

Kenia tossed out the words lightly, but Hobson frowned.

Eliana took out a painting and, in a coquettish tone, asked him, "Hobson, this is a painting of yours that I collected earlier. Can I hang it there?"

She pointed to the spot currently occupied by their wedding photo.

Hobson didn't respond immediately. He paused, then spoke after a few seconds. "The house arrangement is handled by Kenia. Ask her."

"I don't care. You don't need to ask me."

Kenia's straightforward answer left him stunned.

It felt as though something tugged at his heart, yet he couldn't quite discern the feeling.

Kenia watched as the cherished wedding photo was carelessly discarded by the movers, their bright smiles reflecting in her eyes.

She remained silent and headed downstairs into the kitchen.

Since Eliana moved in, the villa had become lively, filled with her exaggerated voice echoing everywhere.

On this day, Hobson unexpectedly came to her room. She was quietly sitting at her desk reviewing documents when he walked up behind her and slowly spoke.

"I originally didn't intend for her to move in. It's because she's pregnant."

Kenia closed the document in her hands.

"This is your house. You can do whatever you want."

"This house was prepared for our marriage, so it belongs to both of us."

Kenia stood up, meeting his gaze.

"That doesn't stop you from bringing another woman home, does it?"

"When she has the baby, I'll ask her to leave."

Kenia looked at his handsome face.

"Hobson, are you out of your mind? Why are you telling me this? You already said you don't love me anymore."

She didn't give him a chance to reply, turning and walking out of the room.

Just as she stepped out, her phone rang.

Upon answering, a man's steady voice came through.

"Kenia, I have almost finished investigating your father's matter. When the time comes, I will reveal the truth as you mentioned"

"Okay, thank you."

The voice on the other end smiled gently.

"Why thank me? If you really want to thank me, then don't go to Otresh."

"Jacoby, it's my father's wish and mine too-to help more people."

Jacoby Cruz didn't argue, and after a few seconds of silence, he spoke softly. "I'll go to Otresh with you."

"Don't be silly. Abandoning the Cruz Group to accompany me to Otresh would make me a subject of others' discussion."

After some conversation, they hung up.

That evening, upon returning home, Hobson and Eliana were seated on the sofa, seemingly waiting for her.

"Where did you go so late?"

Kenia glanced at him and replied icily, "Does it concern you?"

Eliana looked at the roasted sweet potato in her hand with disdain and mocked.

"Kenia, with your current esteemed status, why would you want to eat something so cheap?"

Hobson said nothing, staring down at the roasted sweet potato as if recalling something.

She ignored them, ready to head upstairs to her room when Hobson called her back.

"There's an auction tomorrow. Come with me."

"Take her with you. I'm busy."

Hobson slammed the coffee cup onto the glass table.

"You're my wife! What will my uncle and the others think if you don't go?"

Considering that she would be going abroad soon, Kenia decided not to complicate things further and reluctantly agreed after some resistance.
