Chapter 5 The gamble

Lucian kept staring at the girl who soaked him with mud earlier with murder on his mind, his blood was boiling with rage, Daina on the other hand was puzzled, this was the last place she expected to see that stranger, she didn't even expect to see him ever again.

"You?" Lucian said.

"Small world, huh?" Diana said forcing a fake smile.

"Wait, you guys have met?" Shelia asked

"Yeah long story," Daina said to Shelia "I'm sorry, sorry for bumping into you," Daina said turning to Lucian "And I'm also sorry for earlier today, turns out I was hangry, had some food and now I'm calm, let me make it up to you," Daina said giggling but stopped when she noticed the boy was still angry, he was silently glaring at her.

"It's too late for that stupid psycho, you ruined everything," Lucian said about to walk out.

"Who the hell are you calling a stupid psycho? I wish I could repeat what happened earlier and this time I would do it with no remorse" Daina angrily said dragging everybody's attention.

"Daina?" Shelia called.

"What's that you said?" Lucian asked surprised.

"You heard me loud and clear, I don't need to repeat myself unless you are deaf," Daina replied and Lucian walked up to her.

"Ignore her, she's just messing with you," Sheila said but it fell on deaf ears, Lucian violently grabs Diana by her wrist.

"Ouch that hurts," Daina said but Lucian continued to squeeze it more violently.

"Lucian please stop" Sheila begged.

"Shut the hell up" Lucian angrily scolded, Daina struggled kicking and screaming, dragging her hands but her effort was worthless because the more she protested, the more he tightened his grip.

"Let go of me you freak," Daina said struggling and Shelia joined her in her struggle.

A ball was thrown aiming at Lucian's face but he caught it with one hand without letting go of Daina's hand, Lucian turned around to see it was ...

"Let her go," Damian shouted.

"Or else what?" Lucian asked with no sign of fear detected.

"Let's hope we don't find out," Stefan said cracking his hands.

"Cute to think I would be scared of a guy who got beat up by a girl," Lucian said, Stefan and Damian kept walking closer to him.

"Man, please don't do this" Daina pleaded, she was genuinely scared her eyes could tell and somehow she felt it was that reason Lucian let her go, then walked past in between Damian and Stefan shrugging their shoulders.

"Damn, that guy is crazy, what's his deal?" Daina said massaging her wrist.

"You alright?" Shelia asked.

"My hands almost got ripped off by a Maniac but now it's free, so yeah" Daina replied and turned to Damian and Stefan "Thank you for saving my butt," She said.

"Thank Stefan, it wouldn't be that bad if Lucian had his way," Damian said rudely.

"Jeez," Daina reacted. "Sore loser I see," she added and Damian simply walked away.

"What he is trying to say is you're welcome," Stefan said. "Just be careful Daina," He added.

"Sorry Stef but we gotta go," Sheila said dragging Daina out of the court "What the hell is wrong with you girl?" Sheila asked. "Why are you out there looking for trouble, for Christ's sake it's barely your first day and you have already made more enemies than friends," Sheila scolds.

"I don't know I guess I was mad at Alex and Mariah and I put that negative energy out there, I know it's not a good excuse," Daina said.

"I know Lucian is trouble but he is never like this what did you do to make him this mad?" Sheila asked.

"I might have dumped him mud," Daina revealed laughing mischievously "It's a classic, so sad you missed it, it was a you-had-to-be-there kind of moment, at first I regretted it but now it's worth it, I wish I could do it again," Daina added.

"Hold that thought," Sheila said "Are you the girl in this video?" She asked for playing footage of her dumbing mud on Lucian, her face was blurred in the video.

"What the hell?, How did you get that?" Daina asked.

"It's trending girl," Sheila said "Now I would advise you, if you want to stay in this school stay away from Lucian at all costs, avoid him, he literally owns this school and I'm not saying it metaphorically, his grandfather owns the school and he's rumored to inherit it" Sheila revealed.

"Damn, does that mean I'm getting expelled?" Daina asked. "I barely got here and I'm getting expelled"

"No, he doesn't own the school yet, so just be careful," Sheila said.

"Thank God," Daina said, smiling in silence as the girls walked.

"What's up?" Sheila asked.

"Nothing," Diana brushed it off.

"And nothing got you blushing like an adopted puppy?" Sheila asked.

"Okay, it's Stefan, he is so dreamy and nice but I don't know what it is with Damian," Diana revealed.

"About that, stay away from Damian, I won't lie to you by telling you that he is dangerous but my word for it Damian is not a good guy, we used to date and he cheated on me, the worst part of it is that he made sure I was in the room," Sheila revealed.

"No wonder he was such a jerk," Daina said, "trust me, to me he doesn't exist, but one question what's up with Lucian, Stefan, and Damian, I could feel some negative energy? Like a beef," Daina asked.

"They are the richest and most popular students in the school, Damian and Lucian are cousins and they used to be good friends but all of a sudden they just started beefing," Sheila said.

"Why?" Diana asked.

"Nobody knows why," Sheila responded.

"Man I can't stand that guy," Damian said to Stefan, they were both in the locker room, and they left early because Lucian was getting on their nerves.

"You wanna talk about it?" Stefan said handing Damian a bottle of water.

"Man, this Alpha race has been getting to my mind, I know I'm going to challenge it but at least I want to fight against a worthy adversary and that's not Lucian, his name shouldn't even be mentioned when it comes to the Alpha race, for all, I know he is doing all this to spite me," Damian said. "He doesn't even care about the pack yet he's Grandpa's favorite and on top of all that seeing Sheila again," He added.

"Relax man, sounds like you need a distraction" Stefan suggested.

"She sure was pretty," Damian said wrapping a towel around his hair.

"Who?" Stefan asked.

"What's her name again? The new girl, Daina, was pretty" Damian said.

"Go to hell man, you already lost, you don't stand a chance," Stefan said laughing.

"Nah, but you? You lost, playing the nice guy card" Damian argued.

"You're damn out of your mind if you think you can date your ex's friend," Stefan said.

"From my perspective, I have a better shot at her than you," Damian said.

"You wanna bet on it?" Stefan asked.

"How does 250 grand sound? Are you in or out?" Damian asked.

"I'm in, prepare to lose," Stefan said and they shook on it, "So are you joining the welcome back to school party?"

"Nah, I got an apology letter to write" Damian declined.

"I sure wanna bail out but I'm the host," Stefan said.

"Sucks to be you," Damian said laughing.
