Chapter 2 The send off

Daina had managed to sneak her way into the house without alerting her mother and the other visitors, she was done showering and was putting on her clothes when the door swung open and her mother was behind it.

"I saw you climb through the window, mind explaining what that was for?" Diana's Mom asked.

"I got soaked by a car and I decided to change 'cause you would have driven me there wet or not and I don't want to make a bad first impression," Daina explained.

"It's more than that hon, you don't wanna go," Diana's Mom said joining her sitting on the bed "wanna talk about it"

"When I go who's gonna take care of you?" Daina asked, "What if the stroke comes again and what will you live on?" Daina's Mom was discharged two months ago from the hospital because of her stroke which forced her out of work.

"It's okay hon, the Doctor said I'm good to go, I will just be resting for a couple of weeks, and if the stroke should come again your Uncle Mason is there to help," Daina's Mom said cutting in "What do I always tell you, think positive, not negative" She added. "But honey I don't think that's what all this is about, go on tell Mama everything"

"Mom I feel like a fraud," Diana said "I feel like I don't deserve to go there, I feel like I'm someone's charity case and I feel really sick about it," She revealed.

"That's not true hon," Diana's Mom said "You earned your way into that school, you worked your butt off and aces that scholarship exams, if it's up to me you deserve mor,e" She added touching Daina's cheek "I am proud of you and your father would be so proud of you" Daina and her mom shared a hug.

Daina lost her Father, Jeffrey Smith a year ago and ever since then, Daina's mom, Mrs. Smith has been working overtime which contributed to her stroke and forced Daina to take multiple jobs to fend for the family.

"Thanks, Mo,m" Daina let out.

"Everyone is waiting for you, downstairs," Mrs. Smith said dragging her downstairs after the brief hug.

Daina came downstairs with eight eyes fixed on her, this was a small send-off party Mrs. Smith threw for Daina.

"Hi everyone," Daina said.

"There is the new Wolvestien High girl," A man in his middle age said hugging Daina.

"Uncle Mason stop, it's just Wolvestein" Daina said.

"You gonna always be playing those humble cards, huh? " Uncle Mason said.

"Mason, come help me with something," Mrs. Smith said as she and Mason left the scene giving the teenagers privacy.

"Can't believe you'll be joining these brats we used to hate on," Mariah, a red-haired girl, Daina's best friend said teasing her.

"I still hate them now and I have a feeling I would still hate them, nothing's gonna change," Daina said.

"That's what you think now, next second you will be drooling over those hot boys mark my words," Mariah said.

Alexander, a light-skinned boy, tall with a perfectly built body, cleared his throat after Mariah's comment and the ladies giggled, he held Daina's waist and pulled her into a kiss.

"You were saying some about hot boys?" Alexander asked.

"I didn't say nothing, Babe," Daina said.

"I'm sure gonna miss you," Alexander said.

"Sup Cos," Daina said fisting bombing her cousin, Tristian.

"My baby is living the dream," Tristian said pulling her into a hug.

"It's not a big deal man," Daina replied "It's just Wolvestien,"

"What kind of name Wolvestien?, Why did they even name it that?" Alexander said.

"Cause it's a werewolf sanctuary," Tristian replied.

"This is no such thing like Werewolves, come on man," Mariah countered.

"I'm telling you, Wolvestien High is not just a school, it's a werewolf sanctuary, who builds a school in the middle of the woods, no one, absolutely no one, most students there are werewolves," Tristian announced.

"And how do you know all these?" Alex asked.

"You know Lin right?" Tristian asked.

"Snob Lin?" Alex asked.

"Yes that Lin, turns out Lin took interest in a werewolf's girl and that werewolf constantly bullied him out of the school, he showed me a werewolf claws scar, His car was all clawed, and a girl went missing once and was found in the woods with claws marks, it is rumored the founding father Paul Martin was a werewolf and named the school Wolvestien High aka Werewolf sanctuary," Lin said capturing everyone's attention, he took a canned coke away from Mariah's hand, taking a sip from it.

"I think I heard something like that," Mariah said and Tristan began to laugh.

"You guys bought it?" Tristan said laughing hard.

"You were lying the whole time?" Alex said laughing.

"Y'all meet my cousin, professional liar," Daina said.

"It's a stupid conspiracy theory, there is no such thing as werewolves," Tristan said.

"But bro," Mariah said, "that story of that girl found in the woods is true, the autopsy said the wounds were too big to be a wolf and concluded it was a bear attack but ..."

"Kids, wrap it off we've got to go," Mrs. Smith said appearing with Mason.

"But Mom, I just got here" Daina protested.

"And you blame me for missing your party, you're lucky your friends waited for you," Mrs. Smith said.

"I didn't wait for her, Dad forced me to ..." Tristan said and His father, Mason punched him softly.

"Let's go, Missy," Mrs. Smith said "Mason come help me with her things," She added as she fled the scene with Mason.

"Daina I wish I could see you on the way there but I have football practice, and I'm already behind time," Alex said.

"It's alright," Daina said as he kissed her forehead hugging her, and wrapping a necklace around her neck, Daina looked down at the pendant, she was always drooling over it anytime she walked past the mall, He had noticed.

"I know you're about to complain about how expensive it is but you're worth every penny," Alex said and Daina pulled him into a warm kiss.

"I love you, Daina," Alex said.

"I love you too," Daina replied pulling him to a cozy embrace.

"See you all," Alex said about to leave.

"Alex wait up," Mariah said "Daina I can't come too, I got a bunch of homework, the ones I had three weeks to work on, wwll it's due tomorrow," Mariah said and Daina kept laughing, "I don't have something fancy to give but I want you to have this," Mariah said handing a notebook

"That's nice and very thoughtful of you," Daina said. "See you guys, take care of yourselves," Daina said hugging Mariah and Alex as they left the house.

"There's something off about Mariah," Tristian said.

"You never did like her Tris," Daina said.

"It's not about her," Tristan said.

"Sure, you never did like Alex or any of my friends or love as a whole," Daina said.

"I love you, Pops and Mama Jes, so I don't hate love, I don't like commitment" Tristan explained. "It's just gonna make you hurt"

"Blah blah blah next thing I know you're gonna put it in a song," Daina said and Tristian chuckled "Guess, this is just me thanking you for not being rude to Alex or Mariah," She said "Hope you have got something nice for me?" Daina asked.

"Maybe," Tristan said.

"This bag is too heavy," Mason said carrying Daina's luggage and Tris went to help, Daina attempted to help too but her mother held her by the arm.

"Get inside the car before you go off disappearing again," Mrs. Smith said and Daina turned around rolling her eyes.

"Okay but lemme go get something," Daina said.

"Alright thirty seconds Missy," Mrs. Smith said and Daina ran upstairs, she entered her mom's room, opened her drawer, and placed a thousand-dollar bill in it.

"You need it more than I do Mama," Daina said.

"Daina!!!!" Mrs. Smith's voice came raging from downstairs.
