Chapter 3 Fact Revealed

Bella took a deep breath and let it out through her mouth. Her heart was racing, her lungs felt tight, and her body trembled. She prayed she wouldn't get a scolding from her boss. This had never happened before. She had never been called by the CEO of her company, and she could not have been called by her boss. Because, if her work was not optimal, Abigail was the one who always nagged her.

She knocked on the door of Gabriel's room and pushed after getting approval from the new ruler of the company. With slow steps, a slight bow, and still trying to regulate her breathing rhythm, Bella tried to be polite.

""Good afternoon, sir. Is there anything I can help you with?""

Gabriel took off his glasses. Examining and watching Bella from toe to head. That's right, she was the woman who took him out for the night, then left him with two hundred dollars.

"Bella Cameron? Right?"

The woman looked up, staring at the face of her superior. Quite good-looking. ""Yes, sir. I'm Bella. With no disrespect, I would like to ask you about your purpose for calling me here?""

Gabriel looked down, hiding a smile. He didn't expect that the woman in front of him was a professional employee, in stark contrast to the one he met at the club the other day.

"I was just curious."

The woman's brow furrowed. "Yes, sir?"

"Ah, I was just curious about the personality of the employee who arrived late at my welcome ceremony this morning." He nodded. "You're pretty decent. You were polite, but it's a shame you didn't follow the rules. In fact, Abigail had instructed all employees to arrive fifteen minutes earlier than usual. However, you disobeyed me the first day I came here."

"I had my reasons, sir," Bella argued, not wanting to be cornered. "Abigail's message did not arrive, because my phone was in airplane mode, and when I woke up, I forgot to restore it to normal settings."

Gabriel stood up and put his hands in his pants pockets. He walked over to Bella, then smiled. "I don't accept any excuses, Bella. As an employee, take full responsibility for yourself."

Bella looked up. The man in front of her was quite tall, made her neck and nape ache. "So, what do I have to do for you to forgive me?"

The blue-eyed man lowered his gaze, aligning his face with Bella's. "How about you accompanying me for a drink tonight?"

The woman's pupils dilated. Wasn't her superior's attitude so unreasonable? They had just met, and he was already asking her out for a drink. Bella waved both hands in front of her face. "I can't, sir. What will others think if they see us drinking together?" She raised her index and middle fingers. "Just the two of us?"

Gabriel snorted with laughter. "Hey, you're surprisingly confident. Why would I invite you alone? I'll take some employees into the planning and marketing department."

The hazel-eyed woman blinked, her mouth ajar. She didn't know what else to say. Embarrassment and irritation made her speechless. She wanted to protest again, but she realized that the man in front of her would not remain silent if she argued again.

After analyzing, Bella knew a little about the character of her new boss. Her previous boss had a warm and friendly demeanor, and her current boss was far from that. Their new CEO is a little stubborn and childish.

"Why was I the only one called into his room?" Bella threw her back against the back of the chair, then squinted at Holly. "Why didn't Gabriel call you?"

"He asked you to his room?" Holly screamed. "How's his face? Is it much better looking from a closer distance?"

"Oh, come on, Holly. Why are you asking back questions?"

Holly flashed a grin. "Why did he call you?"

"Because I was the one who arrived late at his welcome ceremony. Aren't you late too? Why wouldn't he call you?"

The short-haired woman punched her best friend's arm. "You should be grateful for being able to meet him in person." She sighed in disappointment. "I wish I was in your shoes, Ella."

Bella rolled her eyes in disgust. "If you're so obsessed with him, then go to him and tell him you're too late."

Holly shook her head and wiggled her index finger in the air. "No, Ella. It's not an obsession, it's a feeling of love. I liked him at first sight." She clapped her hands once. "Fate seems to have brought us together here. My soulmate is in this office, Ella."

Bella's face turned wry. She had heard that line many times before. Too many times, Holly made her memorize the narcissistic behavior of her best friend. Holly, who was too confident. Holly, who always kept her attention on handsome men, and Holly, who cared too much about appearance if she was going to meet a lot of men. Her motto in life is 'must find a handsome, wealthy man to be a lover or husband'.

Realistically, Holly always cares about the jobs of the men she approaches. Their job is her number one priority, because she thinks money is everything. Yes, it's true. Money is everything, because of money, one can get whatever you want. Including social status.

Bella waved her hand. "That already sounds trite, Holly. When you met Julian, you said the same thing. By count, there are already five people in this office that you've dedicated your soul mate to." She turned to her best friend. "Why do you have so many soul mates? What path did you use when God gave you so many soul mates? Please tell your connections to give me one, because I want to get over Jack."

Holly glared, as if remembering something. "Oh yes, Ella. You haven't told me how you and Jack ended things."

"Are you asking me to tell you here?" She looked around. Although it was quiet, now they were in the office.

"Hey come on, no one will hear you but me. Look over there." She looked up at someone at the end of the room. "Fred is so far away. Isn't he a little deaf? So don't worry, he won't hear you whispering."

Bella looked up, staring at the ceiling of the office. Although she promised herself not to bring up Jack, on second thought, it was good to get her slightly painful thoughts out.

"I caught them at Jack's apartment. Actually, I didn't intend to come, but on second thought, I couldn't possibly not celebrate Jack's birthday. I wanted to surprise him, but it was him who gave me a very wonderful surprise. I saw him with another woman."

She lost in thought again, remembering how shocked she was when she walked into Jack's apartment and saw clothes scattered all over the floor. There were women's shoes that had stashed away. A sling bag that seemed to have thrown away, considering there were several items scattered about, such as lipstick and perfume.

She deliberately walked stealthily, trying to analyze the slightly heart-wrenching sounds. Bella to sit on the sofa, right in front of the room that was still tightly closed. Her heart and mind to be fighting. One side wanted to open the door and catch them in the act, the other side didn't dare to do so. Bella was afraid that her heart would experience further pain. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to face the day after seeing the struggle firsthand.

While she was guarding what was hers only for her future husband, the man who was almost her fiancé was doing something indecent. She knew that this country legalized casual sex, but her parents had taught her since childhood not to engage in such acts before marriage. Apart from health reasons, she felt it was necessary to keep her possessions sterile for her future husband.

"Did you hear them sigh?" Holly's pupils widened, clearly surprised by Bella's revelation. In fact, in her view, Jack was a very loving man. He always took care of Bella and treated her like a princess, but he turned out to be an asshole. The human heart is indeed a mystery. No one knows what it really contains.

Bella nodded. "And stupidly, I waited until they were done with the game. I heard sigh after sigh. Unfortunately, made me both sick and disgusted." She smiled wryly.

"You're really patient, Ella. If I were in your shoes, I would have opened the door and filmed them in action. You're just letting his desires out." Holly was a little dismayed by Bella's absurd behavior. How could she patiently wait and endure hearing the sighs of her own lover playing with another woman? "Do you know who that woman is?"

Bella looked down, then blinked. Her eyes glaze over, her chest tightened, and annoyance overwhelmed her. "Yes, she's Leona."

"Leona?" she screamed, making Fred in the corner of the room turn around. Holly just grinned and looked back down as she whispered, "Leona's your relative?"

"Hmm. I'm not surprised when I found out that Leona was with Jack. I had my suspicions about them, but I tried to think positively. Jack also kept saying that he wasn't interested in Leona. However, his words turned out to be a lie.""

"I didn't expect that Leona would betray you. In fact, you guys are very close. It was she who was so excited when you said you were going to get engaged to Jack. There's no telling the human heart." The look on Holly's face clearly broadcast annoyance. "Then how did they respond when they saw you there?"

Bella downed the drink in her mug. Then they sighed in disappointment. "They just apologized and said they were mistaken." She wore a wry smile. "Does that make sense? It seems like they've already planned this. Jack suddenly said he had a cold, and forbade me to come visit him because I wouldn't catch it. They didn't expect me to come."

"Mistaken? Ah, Jack had a fling with your own cousin." Then she laughed mockingly. "What an asshole couple."

"I broke up with Jack right then and there. My eyes caught something unexpected." Bella was silent for a moment, struggling to swallow her own saliva. "Leona was smiling."

"Really?" Holly clenched her fingers. "Just watch out. She'll get her comeuppance."

"Never mind, Holly. I don't want to get involved with them anymore. Let them enjoy their hot and passionate relationship. We'll see from a distance how long they last." Bella's tone was soft, but firm. Anyone would know that behind the casual-sounding words, there was a cruel prayer contained.

Bella was not a woman who would seek revenge. She was relaxed and a little ignorant of what was around her. Although she admits that her love for Jack is still great, she also won't keep a man who has no principles. If you don't want to be faithful, then Bella will let go gracefully. There are many men on this earth, and she will not bother to keep an asshole like Jack.

If she rebels and shows her frustration, Jack will feel proud that a woman looks frustrated with him. Bella didn't want to fulfill Jack's ego. The man would feel that he was a very important person to Bella. In fact, Bella considers Jack only as a complement in her life, not the major priority that must maintain. Bella has a simple principle in living a relationship. If your partner already wants to leave, then let go. Why is it, if in the end you only suffer?

'People who want to leave, let them go. People who can't stand it, let it go. Those who don't know how to be faithful throw them away.'

That's how simple her life is. The principle is simple: the difficulties faced by humans depend on who and how to live it.
