Chapter 3 Three

CHAPTER THREE

Victoria's POV

"The principal wants to see you." Dennis said.

I groaned in response, because being called into the principal's office isn't my favorite thing and it's either a student had done something offensive or I'm not addressing a particular issue.

"Did he say what it's about?" I asked.

"Nope, he just said to call you."

"I'm sure he just wants to talk to you or tell you to do something." Anna suggested.

I didn't like going to his office alone, but the number of times I've been there I had to go alone. Going to his office when you have no idea if you've done something wrong is very scary.

"Ok, I'm going now."

"Don't shit your pants." Anna advised, but I just glared at her.

The secretary told me that the principal was expecting me but she didn't make any attempt to ease my tension...not that I expected her to.

Making sure my clothes were well tucked in, and my badge rested firmly against my chest, I knocked on the door.

"Come in." I heard him say.

"Good afternoon sir, you sent it to me." I said.

He looked at me briefly before returning his attention to the book opened in front of him.

"Afternoon Victoria." He responded.

After flipping pages of his book, he finally had my time as he rested his back on the chair while pointing to the chair in front of me.

Taking it that he wanted me to sit, I drew the chair out probably before making myself comfortable.

"It's not advisable to accept transfer students in the senior class, especially the final class." He started.

I know this, but I kept wondering why he thinks I need to know it.

"Due to some reasons, we had to accept one so I want you, as one of our top students and headgirl, to assist us in making the new student comfortable." He continued.

In a more clearer words, there was a new student coming to our class and he wanted me to be her guide.

"Do you think you can handle that?" He asked, looking directly at me.

"No sir, I already have a lot on my hand right now." My inner mind answered.

"Yes sir." I answered the principal.

"I know I could count on you. She'll be here tomorrow." He said.

"So, it's a girl." I thought.

When there was nothing else to discuss, he dismissed me.

"You were gone for so long, I nearly organized a search party to look for you." Anna said.

I snorted at her statement, which made Dennis smile and I wondered if I looked funny but I didn't ask.

"So what's up?" She asked, more serious this time.

I recounted the entire conversation I had with the principal to them and they both looked surprised.

"Why would they accept a new student in the final class?" Dennis asked.

I didn't answer because I believed the question wasn't directed to me....I mean he doesn't expect me to know the answer.

"So she's coming tomorrow?" Anna asked.

"Did they listen to anything I said?" I thought.

"That's exactly what I said." I replied.

The teacher for that period didn't come, that was the reason we had enough time to talk about necessary things.

"If she's anything like Liz, we are going to have a problem." Anna said.

Even if she is anything like Liz, there's no Daniel that she's going to crush on so I think we're fine.

"I think we'll be fine." I told her.

I looked around to see the rest of our classmates' heads absolved in their books making the three of us look unserious but I didn't mind because I wasn't in a competition with anyone.

Over the years, I tried not to think of myself in a competition with anyone because I tend to over do things then.

"I feel so unserious right now." Dennis said, speaking my thoughts.

"I know right!" Anna exclaimed.

Both of them agreed that they were unserious but they still didn't pick up their books. Instead, they both turned to face me to continue talking.

"Why are you both looking at me?" I asked.

"Nothing." They replied.

"Okay...." I drawled.

As much as I'd like to continue the staring contest, I also have duties to perform and they were not left out.

"When you guys are done, you can meet me in the classroom." I said.

"You're just mean." Anna grumbled.

After making sure that the rest of the students were seated quietly in their respective classes, we head back to ours and hopefully we get there before the teacher.

"This is so stressful, why do I have to follow you everywhere?" Anna complained.

"Maybe you can wait for me in class next time." I said.

I knew fully well that she wouldn't want to sit alone in class so I wasn't surprised when she made a face at me.

"I'll pass."

When classes were over for that day, I couldn't help but breathe in relief. It has been a long day, and I also wasn't looking forward to tomorrow either...

I wished I could magically transport myself to the day after tomorrow but since I couldn't, I'd have to face it.

The next morning came with lots of groaning and hissing because I remembered the things I needed to do today.

"Someone looks excited for this morning." Anna said with sarcasm.

"Yeah, whatever." I murmured.

I managed to drag myself to get ready for class today and when I was done, we went outside ready to welcome the new student.

She still didn't arrive after breakfast, so we went to class and I already made up my mind not to stress myself. Probably she decided not to come today after all.

The teacher went on with his teaching only to be disrupted by the principal and someone I guess is the new student.

"This is Catherine, and she'll be joining you." He said, after we greeted him.

"Oh my goodness!" I exclaimed when I took a full look at her.

"That is Victoria, she'll show you everything you need to know, and don't worry you're in safe hands." The principal continued.

"Thank you sir." I heard Catherine say.

She walked gracefully towards me, attracting stares from our classmates, especially the guys.

"Hi." She greeted me.

I turned to look at Anna only to find her looking at me with a look I wasn't sure of but I had an idea.

"This is going to be an interesting year." I thought.

I welcomed her warmly and Anna did the same before we concentrated back on the teacher.

"This is going to be one long year." I thought and something tells me I wasn't wrong and not that I didn't trust Daniel but I was grateful he was in the university already so whatever drama we have doesn't have to do with him or any of the guys for that matter.
