Chapter 5 Jacob

“So, then I was like Jacob, that isn’t a bathroom, that's a fountain.” Rick said and I heard as the others let out boisterous laughter as well. I couldn’t help but chuckle as well. I had to admit that I might have underestimated him as he seemed quite fun.

I was sitting between Mack and Mr. Rosewood, who I now knew as Ricky and as he and Maxwell shared some wild stories it felt as though I already knew him. Jacob was a friend of theirs who also owned his own company. But like they said he was a bit of a workaholic and although they had tried to drag him out tonight he had refused to come.

But it was weird because for all of the stories that they were telling me he sounded like a very interesting character and I found myself wanting to know him. “So Charlotte, did you do any crazy stuff in your teens. “ Mark asked and I felt a blush come over me as the attention of the other five people in the group turned towards me.

“No, not really ,” I said to them honestly. The truth was that I was too busy being a maid to my sister and a punching bag to my step mother. “Yeah I don’t know why you would ask, she seems like the type of person that would still be a virgin. “she muttered.

I didn’t want to argue with Chelsea, she had been sending me deep glares all night and I didn’t know why but it almost seemed as though she had some kind of hidden vendetta against me.

I let out a sigh from my lips as I chose to remain quiet. I tense when I felt Mark lean his weight on my shoulder as he said, “Hey Char tell us. Like where was the craziest place that you ever had sex?” He asked as I felt slightly unnerved by how close he was sitting next to me. “I am sure she is still a virgin, why would you ask her that?” I heard Chelsea say.

I huffed at her petty jab, “I am in fact a virgin and nothing’s wrong with that. “I said as we continued talking casually amongst ourselves and I tried to remain calm but I immediately tensed up when I felt him place his hand on my left thigh. I tried to shrug it off discreetly but he had other ideas as I felt him move his fingers to the edge of my dress. “Hey, I just want to have some fun.” He muttered and that was when I felt something in me snap.

“Stop. “I said to him but he ignored me and I reached for my drink and threw it at his face. “Hey!” He called out in anger. He tried to reach for me but Ricky came to stand between us. “What is going on?” He asked and before I could speak Mark started it.

“This psycho threw her drink at me. Just because I was trying to have some fun. I didn’t know that she is a slut as well as a prude, “he yelled. Ricky turned towards me with disappointment and I guessed that I shouldn’t have been surprised that he was quick to believe his friend. “That wasn’t what happened. He tried to assault me.” I said in a shaky voice and I heard Chelsea laugh beside me.

“Well that would be convenient to make him the bad guy and say that he tried to attack you. “she said and before I coolly defended myself I watched as Ricky sighed before saying. “Do you know what? That is enough! I am sure it was just a misunderstanding. Let us all just get back to the party.” He said and although the others agreed with him, as I sat down I felt like I didn’t want to be there anymore.

“Do you know what? I think I am going to leave. I don’t think I want to be here anymore.” I said to him and I watched as something flashed through Ricky’s eyes but he remained quiet. As I dropped my drink on the table I heard Claire say something along the lines of, “good riddance.“

I made my way down the stairs. I tried to hold back the tears that had welled up in my eyes. I knew that I shouldn’t have allowed myself to be bothered by what had happened.

But I had actually been excited at the thought of being able to make some friends. I was used to the thought of not having someone to talk to and so it had felt nice at that moment.

I stood up and made my way down to the bar. I wanted to leave but as I checked the time I saw that it was already midnight and so there were no buses available, meaning that I would have to order an uber. I let out a sigh as I decided to wait at the bar. I just wished that I could forget everything that had happened.

I should have known better than to think that they were going to be interested in me because of who I was rather than as a clown they could make fun of. I decided to have one more shot in order to calm the ache that was in my heart. I asked the bartender to pour me a shot and I was quick to throw it back as I allowed the burning liquid to ease my worries.

“Wanting to ease your troubles?” I heard a voice call out from beside me. I groaned as I turned around to face the person who had spoken and I immediately felt my breath hitch in my throat as I took in the sift of him. He had short curly hair and striking blue eyes as he sat a few stools down from me. He had a smirk on his face and he was nursing a drink of his own.

“Just need to forget about everything.“ I muttered thunder my breath as I heard him hum in response as he stood up from his seat and took a position in the seat besides mine. I stared at him with a raised eyebrow wondering what he was doing as I watched as he ordered us two more drinks before looking at me intently.

“why don’t we forget together?”
