Chapter 4 An Escape

I sighed as I smoothed down my black sequined dress on the sides of my body. I let out a shallow breath that broke spree from my lips. As I knew that this was going to be a bad idea but I had seen the opportunity to have some fun and I had made the decision to have some fun for once as I smiled before I made my way out of the door. I didn’t want to have a chance encounter with any of my family members if I were to go outside into the hall.

I peeked my head out of the door as I looked out to see if I could find any of them but I was relieved to see no one there.

I remembered that they had gone out to a family dinner and had even been able to hear their loud laughter as it came from the corridor on their way out and for a slither of a moment I had hoped they would ask me to join. But I knew that I shouldn’t have allowed myself to be bothered by such trivial things and yet here it was bothering me.

The fact that I knew that I would ever get to attend family dinners or be Involved in any family events as anything more than an assistant. It hurt me, the fact that I knew the situation would be much more different if my mother was alive but I knew that could never happen.

I let out a sigh from my lips as I made my way out of the mansion. It was funny how much people would find themselves envying us in such a situation thinking you lived in luxury but the reality was far from it.

I checked my phone to see that it was almost 9 pm and I knew that they would be home soon. I knew that I had to get myself out of there before they returned as I knew that they would try and stop me if they saw me.

I was racked with nerves as I felt as the bus started to move and several thoughts rang in my head. My father had taken away from me the one thing that I had left of my mother and it was the thing that I held the closest to my heart and yet he had given it to someone that was his step daughter. It made me come to realize that he would never in fact view the two of us as equals and that the reality of the matter was that he would always see me as second best to her.

I was brought out of my thoughts when it heard a screeching sound as the bus finally came to a stop. I could hear loud music coming from around me and I tried my best to not be discomforted by it. I made my way down as I saw the bright sign that said ‘Starlight’ and noticed the several flashing light in front of it that caused me to wince slightly as well as the intensity of the music in the background and I tried not to be made uncomfortable as I cleared my throat and made my way through.

I took in the sight of the barely clad women and the numerous men who they were grinding their bodies against and for a moment I wanted to turn back around. I was well aware that this was no place for someone like me and that it was time for me to turn back and leave.

I was about to leave when I heard a voice coming from behind me and I let out a curse as I turned around and plastered a fake smile on my face.

“Well well well. I thought you were too good for me, it seems that you did have time,” he said and I noticed how he stumbled slightly as I came to the realization that he was drunk.

“I am glad you came.” He said to him and I tried not to tense up as I felt him reach out and swing his arm over my shoulder. “Yes, I knew that you had a wild side. I love the dress by the way.” He shouted and I nodded my head at him feeling slightly uncomfortable as I said back to him thank you.

Richard sighed as he sent me a lazy grin. “Well come on let’s get you to the VIP booth. You can meet some of my friends. “He said and before I could open my mouth to protest he had already grabbed a hold of my arm and was dragging me towards the stairs. I cursed myself internally as I knew that there was nothing that I could do to stop him as he led me up the set of stairs.

We came to a stop in front of a small group of people and I could see several men and women grinding against each other as several shots of alcohol and lines of cocaine were spread on the table.

My eyes widened at the sight as I found my mouth agape in shock. “Here goes nothing.”
