Chapter 8 Events at the party

Aldebaran was sitting on the sofa in his room. He appeared busy with the mobile phone in his hand. His facial expression was serious, as if he was doing something important with his phone.

A few minutes later, his phone rang. There was an incoming call, and he immediately answered it.

"How is it? Have you taken care of everything?"

Aldebaran asked the question directly, without responding to the greetings from the other end.

"Everything is secure, Mr. Aldebaran. Mr. Gerry's company building has been successfully secured, and everything is expected to return to normal starting tomorrow."

A woman's voice answered Aldebaran's question. She was Aldebaran's secretary, Zenia.

Upon hearing the answer, Aldebaran nodded.

"Good. Oh, by the way, I will resume work tomorrow, so please prepare all the documents that I need to work on, Zenia."

"Sorry, but weren't you supposed to take a two-week leave, Mr. Aldebaran?"

Previously, Aldebaran had indeed requested a two-week leave after his wedding day. However, without any clear reason, he suddenly asked for the cancellation of his leave.

"Just cancel the leave. Just prepare what I asked for and start arranging my appointments with clients again tomorrow. If there's anything important, inform me immediately," he replied, without providing a clear reason.

"Alright, as you wish. I will contact you if there's anything important."

After that, Aldebaran immediately ended his call with his secretary. He tidied up his clothes and walked out of his room. He descended the stairs and went to the first floor.

A servant approached Aldebaran and stood beside him.

"Has she finished cooking?" Aldebaran asked.

The servant nodded in response. "Yes, Mr. Aldebaran. Mrs. Alexa is currently arranging the food on the dining table," he replied.

Aldebaran nodded.

"Do you want to eat now? Shall I inform Mrs. Alexa?" the servant asked.

"No need. I'll go there now. Tell all the servants not to be in the kitchen or dining room. I don't want any disturbance," Aldebaran answered, with a serious expression on his face.

The servant near Aldebaran nodded and did as he was told.

Aldebaran continued walking towards the dining area and found Alexa already there. She was busy arranging the glasses and plates on the table, without any assistance from the servants.

Upon noticing Aldebaran's arrival, Alexa quickly finished her task and looked at her husband's face.

"Did you cook all of this by yourself?"

Aldebaran asked, staring at the array of food on the table in front of him.

Upon hearing the question, Alexa immediately nodded in response.

"You forbade me from seeking help from the servants, didn't you? So, I did as you asked, without anyone's assistance. Is there something wrong?" she replied.

Aldebaran raised an eyebrow and then shook his head.

"I'm just surprised. You couldn't cook before, and you never even went into the kitchen. But now you can cook so much food. It's very strange," he answered, while sitting on the chair.

Alexa let out a slow sigh and took a seat across from Aldebaran.

"That's in the past, isn't it? I live in the present and have left the past behind. So, it would be better if you didn't bring up the past."

She seemed displeased with Aldebaran's earlier statement.

Aldebaran gazed deeply into Alexa's face.

"Why? You seem so sensitive now. I just made a casual remark, but you took it so seriously. Are you starting to stand up to me now?"

"Starting to stand up to you? Since when have I been afraid of you, Aldebaran? Just because you were able to hurt me yesterday doesn't mean I'll let you hurt me again," Alexa replied directly. She wasn't afraid to oppose Aldebaran's words.

Aldebaran leaned back against the chair, keeping his gaze fixed on Alexa.

"If I wanted to, I could kill you right now, Alexa."

"If you kill me now, then everything would be in vain. I know, your biggest reason for marrying me was for revenge, right? You feel vengeful because I underestimated your feelings."

Alexa immediately responded to Aldebaran's words. She appeared strong now and showed no fear in the face of Aldebaran's angry expression.

Eventually, Alexa rose from her chair and poured water into Aldebaran's glass.

"Have your meal. I will go to my room and eat later. I know you hate me so much," she said.

Afterward, Alexa promptly left the room, leaving Aldebaran sitting there alone.

Aldebaran whispered softly after Alexa's departure. It seemed that Alexa's words had provoked his anger.

Several hours later...

Alexa chose to spend time in her room. She was busy tidying up her clothes and arranging her various makeup tools on the table. After completing her task, she turned on her phone and checked several messages that had come in.

"All of my friends have been congratulating me on my marriage since yesterday. But I almost forgot my phone and didn't reply to their messages," she said while reading the incoming messages one by one.

In the midst of replying to those messages, Alexa suddenly received a phone call from someone. And when she saw the contact name calling her number, she immediately answered the call.

"Hello, Belle?"

'Alexa!'

Alexa immediately moved the phone away from her ear upon hearing Belle's loud voice calling her name.

"Please lower your voice, my ears will go deaf if I keep hearing your shouting, Belle," she replied.

'Haha, I'm sorry. I'm just so happy that I finally managed to reach you. So, are you at your husband's house now?' Belle asked.

"Yes, I am currently at Aldebaran's house."

Alexa stood by the window, gazing at the view of the garden outside her room.

"Is that so? I thought you and Aldebaran would be staying at a hotel for some time to celebrate your honeymoon," Belle replied again.

After hearing Belle's words, Alexa smiled sadly.

"Honeymoon? That would never happen. On the first night alone, he hurt me so harshly, so it's impossible for him to spend more time with me. He despises me," she muttered to herself.

"How was the party yesterday? Was it enjoyable?"

Eventually, Alexa chose to change the topic of conversation with Belle.

"Aldebaran threw a grand party. He invited all of our alumni friends. Unfortunately, you weren't there at the party. You were supposed to be the star, Alexa."

Alexa also regretted the same thing, just like Belle. But what could she do? Aldebaran's threat the previous night truly frightened her. As a result, she fell asleep on the floor and forgot about her own wedding party.

"Oh, by the way, there's one piece of news that will surprise you, Alexa. You know what? When the party was just starting, Cristof came and had a fight with your husband, Aldebaran."

Alexa's facial expression immediately changed to shock upon hearing Belle's words.

"Wait, Cristof came and had a fight with Aldebaran?"
