Chapter 3 I Cannot Divorce

Brennan's words were like a heavy slap in Freya's face.

It was only then that she realized she was almost naked. She felt extremely embarrassed.

The way Brennan looked at her and questioned her, it was as if she was a criminal. She lowered her head and said, "I'm your newly-wedded wife."

For a moment, astonishment was written all over Brennan's face. But soon, the disdain returned.

He glanced at Freya. Then he took the bath towel hanging on the wall, threw it to her, and snorted. "Dry yourself."

After saying this, he turned around and left the bathroom without looking at her again.

Freya held the bath towel in her hand and sat in the bathtub. Her face was still burning hot.

She was so overwhelmed with shame that she wanted to dig a hole and hide.

It was already embarrassing when she shared a bed with a strange man wearing only her underwear. Worse, she took the initiative to have sex with him because of the effect of the drug, and she was rejected by him.

Judging from Brennan's attitude toward her, she seemed to screw up their "wedding night." She was afraid that all her compromises would be in vain.

At the thought of this, she covered her face, feeling the pain in her heart. Her tears fell uncontrollably, spilling out between her fingers.

She sat in the bathtub for a while to calm herself down. It was not until the shame and fear gradually faded that she slowly stood and dried herself up.

When Freya walked out of the bathroom, Brennan was already dressed. He sat on the couch, looking at her.

He said coldly, "I've already checked. You married me for three hundred million dollars, right? How can a woman like you dream of being the hostess of the Hayes family? Have you asked yourself if you deserve it?"

Freya clutched the hem of her dress tightly.

Sure enough, Brennan's words hurt her. But she could not refute him. After all, he was right. She sold herself for three hundred million dollars.

She knew very well that if she insisted on staying here, she would only suffer for the rest of her life. But she had no other choice. For her mother, and for Healthbridge Hospital that her mother had devoted most of her life, she must do it.

She gave up the thought of explaining and let silence take over the dark bedroom, just like her heart.

However, Freya's silence and attitude only irritated Brennan even more. At the thought that she was not even hurt and reacted to his words, he felt everything he said was wasted.

He stood up and said, "Divorce."

"What? Divorce?" This word immediately awakened Freya's numb consciousness.

It was very obvious from Brennan's attitude toward her that he didn't like her. So maybe for him, divorce was a good choice. But if they divorced, the Hayes family would withdraw their investment in the hospital, right?

After all, even if the Hayes family was incredibly wealthy, it didn't mean they would be willing to do business that would make them suffer losses.

Besides, she hadn't given birth to Brennan's child. This meant the contract hadn't been established yet.

This marriage was the hospital's last hope. She couldn't let it disappear.

"No, I won't agree to the divorce. I'm your legal wife, so I have the right to refuse," Freya said after she mustered up her courage. From being weak, she changed into being tough.

Brennan's expression suddenly became particularly terrifying.

He stared at her, sneered, and said in an even colder voice, "I gave you a chance, but you didn't want it."

After saying this, he picked up the landline and called the butler who was guarding downstairs.

The butler immediately came to the room with an astonished expression. Brennan ordered, "Throw this woman out!"

He glanced at Freya disdainfully as if she was a bag of garbage.

Freya realized she had irritated Brennan, so she softened her attitude. She must stay here, after all.

She looked at him with pleading eyes.

She was about to say something to persuade Brennan not to divorce her when an old and dignified voice sounded behind them.

"Who dares to throw my granddaughter-in-law out?"
