Chapter 7 Looked Like Her

Her face was as cold as the winter snow, "Kolton, was it me who ran her over with my car? Did I force you to enter the wedding hall? Did I tie you up, forcing you to sleep and have a baby with me? Did I force you to take over SE Group?"

In her mind, no matter how Kolton made a scene, she could remain calm.

After all, they had argued countless times about Janiyah over the years. If it were not for the sake of their daughter and the old man, they should have gone to the Civil Affairs Bureau a long time ago.

But now, Kolton no longer had affairs or tortured her. Instead, he stayed in this little space and tortured himself. His bearing and spirit were gone. He acted like a dying fish that opened his gills to breathe. At any moment, he would die on the shore from dehydration and lose vitality for good.

All of this arose from Janiyah...

"What did I do wrong that you see me as an unforgivable sinner?" Elyse questioned him with red eyes. Like a pot of cold water, it quenched the anger in him. His eyes were filled with bewilderment, "You..."

She looked so angry and aggrieved. The welling tears would fall in the blink of an eye.

His frozen heart was shocked. He instinctively let go but lost his tongue.

Elyse could cry...

In his mind, this woman was made of steel and iron. Nothing could hurt her...

Elyse got up, rubbed her eyes, fought back her bitterness, and regained her usual composure, "The launch event starts at seven o'clock in the evening. Don't be late."

Following that, she grabbed her handbag, slammed the door, and walked off.

Kolton leaned against the sofa. After quite a while, he pounded the sofa and stopped moving again.

At 7:00 p.m., Kolton arrived on time. Holding their daughter in his arms, he grabbed Elyse's hand. In a business suit, he looked sharp and nothing like the disheveled man from a few hours ago.

Under the limelight, the couple smiled and talked happily. The harmonious family aroused admiration.

After the tedious launch, the inauguration of the new project kicked off.

As the person in charge, Elyse had to socialize with others. As Kolton lazily held their daughter, she noticed his pale face, probably the aftereffects of his overdrinking.

She frowned slightly, "Kolton, take Greta outside for some fresh air. Take care of her and don't wander about."

In front of his eyes, she acted normally as if nothing had happened. Somehow upset, he shot back, "Stop nagging me, Greta is also my daughter. What are you worried about!"

He then walked away with Greta in his arms.

Elyse looked at the unruly figure and sighed slightly. Kolton, I must have owed you in my previous life.

"Greta, I'll take you to watch the fountain and the fireworks." Kolton rarely had a chance to spend some quality time with his daughter and decided to take her to the outdoor fountain.

A lot of guests were invited that night, and the fountain square was bustling with people.

Out of anxiety, Greta held onto his neck tightly, "Daddy, why doesn't mommy come with us?"

Kolton kept to the bottle for quite a long time and drank a lot tonight to entertain the guests. His head was dizzy. As Greta showed so much dependence on Elyse, he snorted slightly, "She is busy with big business and has no time to spend with us."

"Oh, mommy works very hard. She hasn't slept for days." Greta pouted. Distress was written all over her face.

Kolton froze and felt more upset. This feeling was hard to describe.

A marshmallow vendor in the near distance soon distracted Greta. She raised her head, looked over for a long time, and whispered, "I want candy."

Kolton had no reason to refuse.

He led Greta to the old man who made marshmallows on the spot. Greta kicked about, clamoring to get down and play with the marshmallow. Kolton quickly put her down, "Stay here, I'll pay the bills."

When he was just about to take his wallet out, a slender figure flashed by in the near distance and blended in the crowd. He saw the smiling side face that belonged to Janiyah...
