Chapter 4

One month later

Tina started experiencing weakness and dizziness, she always throw up, get tired easily and sleeps too much and became very lazy. She started suspecting that she is pregnant but shoved the thought away.

"How can I get pregnant? I just had sex once" she consoled herself.

Her mother noticed all this symptoms in her and decided that she they will go to hospital.

"Mom, I don't wanna go to the hospital, I am fine I have already gotten some drugs from the pharmacy" Tina who hated the smell of hospital tried to protest but her mother refused.

"You are going to the hospital to have a check up and that is final" her mother said with a tone of finality which gave no rooms for argument.

After the incidence of that night, Tina stopped working in the club. She did not want anything that will remind her of that awful experience. Her parents were surprised when she stopped working in the club willingly. They tried to find out the reason behind her change of mind but she did not say anything.

On the day Tina is supposed to go to the hospital, her mother couldn't accompany because she got a message that her sister is sick. so Tina went alone to the hospital.

When she entered into the doctor:s office, he ushered her into a seat and began to ask her some questions.

"How do you feel? he asked her.

"I always feel weak and tired, I throw up, most especially in the morning and I sleep alot" she explained to him.

"When last did you see your period? he asked her again.

She started doing a mental calculation inorder to answer the question.

"I think one month ago" Tina answered him not so sure.

"What is wrong with me doctor, am I okay? she asked anxiously.

"We will have to carry out a test to confirm if my suspicion is true" he said to her.

"What suspicion is that? she asked.

"I won't reveal anything you until the test result is out" he said to her which made her heart to start beating rapidly.

"Nurse!!! he called out, "Lead her to where the test is going to be carried out. he said to the nurse.

The nurse carried her to the lab and her samples were taken for the test. After that she came back to the doctors office. He told her that the test result will be out in forty five minutes so she should wait in the reception.

That forty-five minutes were the longest forty five minutes of her life. She kept on praying for the result to be negative to pregnancy. She started suspecting that she is pregnant because of the symptoms, " but malaria also have those symptoms" she said to herself with a little ounce of hope.

She stayed in the reception waiting for the result of the test and it seemed as if time stopped. She would stand up, walk around the reception and sit down. People in the reception started staring at her as if she had gone mad but she cared less, because her problem is more than those stares she is receiving.

After what seemed like eternity, she was finally called in to see the doctor. She entered inside the doctor's office and kept on standing, she did not even feel like sitting down.

"Sit" the doctor ordered and she reluctantly sat down.

"This is your test result" he said to her and gave her the result. She opened it result and read the contents. After reading, she stood still for a while as if to digest what she has just read.

"Doctor, what does the result says? she asked foolishly.

The doctor looked at her weirdly, "Did you not read the results or can't you read? he asked her.

"I said, tell me what the damm result says!!!! she yelled at the doctor.

"Fine, the results you are holding there says you are four weeks pregnant" the doctor said to her.

"Noooo she screamed, this can't happen to me" she said and started crying.

The doctor looked at her pitifully, the way she is acting after hearing the news of her only means that she is carrying an unwanted pregnancy.

She walked out of the hospital dejectedly, heading to no where in particular, She kept on walking until she got to an abandoned pack. She sat down on the bench she saw there and cried her eyes out. She felt her whole world crumbling before her eyes. Just because of one unfortunate night, her life has been ruined. She did not know how long she spent crying in the pack, she only stood up when she noticed that the sun has gone down. She walked out of the pack and flagged down a cab, she entered and told the driver her destination. He saw how glommy she was looking and tried to engage her in a conversation but she did not reply, she just kept staring into space. When he saw that she did not reply him, he kept quiet and they drove the remaining distance in silence. When she got to her house she payed the driver and did not even wait to collect the change before going inside the house.
