Chapter 4 She Should Do Something In Return

In Kathryn's previous life, her nude photos were exposed to the world the next day, so Willard never had the chance to send her this bracelet.

Now that Willard had given her a gift, she should do something in return to express her gratitude!

Kathryn made up her mind to make some desserts for Willard and visit him at the company.

When she was washing her face, a maid knocked on her door to inform her of a visitor.

"Mrs. Ellsworth, your cousin is here."

Caylee?

She was here just in time!

With a steely look in her eyes, Kathryn changed into fresh clothes and made her way downstairs.

Caylee, clad in a sky blue slim dress, was sitting on the sofa in the living room and sipping a cup of coffee.

Everything she wore was in the same style as Kathryn's.

Caylee always bought the same things as she did.

Her reason was that she liked to be matchy-matchy with Kathryn. She explained they had a similar temperament and that wearing matching clothes indicated their good relationship.

But now Kathryn thought about how ridiculous it truly was.

It was bullshit! Caylee only liked to imitate her and take her things away!

"Kathy!"

Seeing Kathryn come downstairs, Caylee stood up briskly and walked over to hold her hand. "Are you okay?"

Kathryn didn't push her away, bearing with the discomfort.

"Why are you here?"

In her previous life, Caylee had also visited her on this day. She had come to drive a wedge between her and Willard.

It could be said that Caylee was the main cause behind Kathryn and Willard's unhappy marriage.

Caylee's intuition was telling her something was wrong with Kathryn today. She was afraid Kathryn hadn't been drugged enough last night and had overheard the conversation between her and Phillip. She said tentatively, "You were wasted last night, so I sent you to a nearby hotel. I didn't know you checked out at midnight until I called this morning. I was so worried about you, so I came to see you."

"Do I have to report to you when I come back to my own home?" Kathryn pointed out casually.

Caylee's face paled.

She wasn't sure whether Kathryn had heard something last night or not.

But, in an instant, she adjusted her expression back to staunch concern. "I didn't mean it that way. Also, someone took photos of you dancing at the bar last night and spread them all over the Internet. I hope Willard wasn't mad at you. To be honest, I don't think it was your fault. Willard had gone too far yesterday! He stood you up on Valentine's Day! How could he give you the cold shoulder after you married him? Just because the Ellsworth family is powerful? He can't even compare with Edmund. Unlike him, Edmund is charming and gentle..."

Kathryn interrupted her icily. "Caylee."

The wide smile on Caylee's face froze. "What...what's wrong?"

Kathryn raised her eyes to look at her steadily. She said snappily, "Willard is my husband. What are you trying to do, slandering him behind his back?"

Caylee could barely maintain the fake smile on her face.

Husband?

Since when did Kathryn accept Willard as her husband? Didn't she loathe him?

Was it possible that Willard slept with Kathryn last night?

"Kathy, I'm just trying to defend you..."

Kathryn narrowed her eyes and cut Caylee short again. "This is a matter between my husband and me. You don't need to worry about it. I'd like to ask you a question. Do you know the man who sneaked into the hotel room I was staying in last night?"

"What? A man?"

Caylee feigned shock and asked, "Did you see who it was? I closed the door when I left. How could someone get in?"

With a faint smile, Kathryn stated calmly, "I thought you were the one who arranged that rogue to come in."

Caylee's heart skipped a beat.

"Kathy... don't say such nonsense! You're my dear cousin. How could I ever hurt you?"

As she watched Caylee's impeccable acting, Kathryn realized why Caylee became an amazing actress later on. Caylee was really good at pretending.

But if Kathryn brutally tore off Caylee's mask now, it wouldn't be as amusing as it could be.

"If you say you didn't do it, then I believe you. I didn't sleep much last night. I'm too exhausted to accompany you right now. Please forgive me. Norah, please see our guest out."

Caylee's eyes darkened.

She didn't sleep much last night?

That must mean Kathryn did have sex with Willard!

Caylee clenched her fists tightly and, her nails digging into her palms, restrained the resentment in her eyes and forced herself to smile.

"I'm relieved that you trust me, Kathy. Since you're tired, I'd better leave you be now."

As Caylee left, Kathryn watched her receding back and smiled disdainfully.

She had ample time to punish this woman!

As soon as Caylee left, Kathryn went to the kitchen to prepare some desserts.

Then she wrapped them up and took them straight to the Ellsworth Group.

She seldom went to Willard's company after she married him.

Kathryn tried to call Willard, but he wasn't answering his cell phone. She had no choice but to call his secretary, Marcus Walker, instead. She asked Marcus not to tell Willard she was there because she wanted to surprise him.
