Chapter 6 What On Earth Are You Trying To Do

"I'm delivering some desserts to your son-in-law," Kathryn pouted at the desserts near her and replied meaningfully.

Did Kathryn really come to give Willard some desserts?

Leonel was surprised.

Because Willard had bought all the relevant magazines, Leonel didn't hear about what had happened at the bar yesterday. But he did know that Kathryn had rushed into the meeting room and smashed a glass at Willard last night.

He had assumed the two of them wouldn't be on speaking terms.

He especially didn't expect the two of them to make up by now.

It was completely out of Leonel's expectations.

"Please have a seat."

Willard motioned for Leonel to take a seat.

Leonel snapped out of his thoughts. He sat down at Willard's behest, next to him on the sofa

"Dad, would you like to have a pudding? Let me serve one for you."

Leonel smiled appreciatively and said, "No, thank you. Since you've specially prepared it for Willard, I'll leave it to him."

Kathryn's cheeks warmed, and she glanced at Willard subconsciously.

She was surprised to see that Willard's ears had turned red.

Kathryn couldn't help but grin. She had discovered something new.

Willard was shy.

With an awkward cough, Willard crossed his long legs and changed the subject. "Are you here to talk about things concerning Ethereal Cosmetics?"

Ethereal Cosmetics was an up-and-coming brand company specializing in retro makeup. It was recently purchased by the Ramsey Group, but problems had arisen in its marketing strategy.

Leonel's initial plan was to get Ethereal Cosmetics listed at the beginning of next year, but if the company continued to lose money, then his efforts would be in vain, and he would have wasted three hundred million dollars on the acquisition.

In her previous life, Kathryn didn't care less about the business.

But she did remember that in the end, Willard had come up with two plans to bring Ethereal Cosmetics back to life.

Kathryn didn't interrupt them. She sat to one side and listened in quietly.

The more she listened to them talk, the more she came to admire Willard's business sense. She realized even more how blind she was in her previous life.

No wonder Leonel always praised Willard in front of her, claiming he was a rare business genius.

Willard deserved to be her husband!

Forty minutes later, their conversation finished.

Before leaving, Leonel clamped his hand on Willard's shoulder and said with a grin, "If you're free this weekend, you can bring Kathy for a meal with us."

Recognizing his kindness, Willard nodded and smiled back. "Okay."

"Let me see you off, Dad," offered Kathryn.

"No need for that. Just spend some more time with Willard."

Leonel stretched his hand out to gently stroke his daughter's hair, then stood and left the office.

It was only the two of them left in the office.

The atmosphere became a little awkward.

Kathryn turned to look at Willard and broke the silence.

"I made these desserts for you. Don't you want to try them?"

Willard stared at her with pensive eyes before finally nodding.

After Willard finished eating the desserts, Kathryn beamed at him.

She packed up the thermal box and readied to return home.

Before leaving, she asked, "Willard, will you be home for dinner tonight?"

As Willard was captivated by her big, beautiful eyes, his Adam's apple bobbed.

He quickly picked up some documents lying on the table and leafed through them, flustered.

"I have a meeting this afternoon."

A meeting?

Kathryn felt a little disappointed, but she didn't give up.

"You broke your promise yesterday and made me wait for you for a long time. You must have dinner with me today." Kathryn leaned closer and whispered in his ear, "Come back early tonight. I'll be waiting for you."

Willard's breath hitched in his throat.

When he regained his senses, Kathryn had already left.

Only the lingering flirtation remained, where her breath tickled his ear.

"Waiting for me?" Willard murmured to himself, pursing his lips.

"What on earth are you trying to do, Kathryn?"

After she left the Ellsworth Group, Kathryn decided to head straight to a nearby shopping mall.

She humiliated Willard in public yesterday. She had to find a way to ease the strain on their relationship and make it up to him.

Kathryn wandered around the shopping mall for a bit before coming up with an idea.

She went to the lingerie store on the third floor.

As soon as she entered the shop, she randomly pointed at two whole rows of sexy underwear and asked the shop assistant to pack them all after informing them of her size. Then she paid the bill and left the store.

Then she went home with her spoils.

When she drove into the driveway of the villa, her heart leapt in shock.

A white Lamborghini was parked in front of the garden villa.

A man was in the driver's seat. He was wearing a simple white shirt and black suit pants.

He had strong eyebrows and bright eyes, a noble and handsome face.

Kathryn gripped the steering wheel so tightly that her knuckles turned white. She could not conceal the hatred in her eyes.

It was Edmund Lambert!

But before she could calm down, Edmund had already gotten out of his car and approached hers.

He greeted her in his usual gentle manner, "Kathy."

Kathryn didn't say anything.

Edmund wasn't sure what was going on. He asked in confusion, "Kathy, is there something wrong?"

Kathryn tried her best to control her anger.

"Why are you here?"

"I..." Edmund looked at Kathryn warmly and spoke softly. "I saw the news. The media's full of nonsense. Don't worry too much about it. By the way, did Willard see the news? Did he hurt you?"

Hurt her?

Could Willard even bear the thought of hurting Kathryn?

Even in her previous life, when she was so horrible to him, Willard never blamed her for anything.

On the contrary, Edmund teamed up with Caylee to drive a wedge between her and Willard.

They always manipulated her into thinking Willard was cruel to her and never made any time for her.

Kathryn's heart was full of bitterness. She blinked her eyes to feign tears and complained, "Yes, you're right. How did you know he hurt me, Edmund? He's gone too far!"

Edmund asked eagerly, "So what did he do to you? You don't have to be afraid of him, Kathy. If he tries to hurt you, just tell me. I swear I won't spare him!"

If Kathryn wasn't aware of Edmund's true colors, she would have truly believed he cared about her.

Not only was Caylee good at acting, but, it turned out, so was Edmund.

If these two pieces of scum worked in the entertainment industry, they would certainly win the awards for best actor and actress!

Kathryn continued to fret sulkily. "He did it seven times last night. It was hurt! I almost couldn't stand up today. Don't you think he's gone too far? It was my first time, but he wasn't gentle with me at all. He went so hard that I still feel a little pain, even now."

Edmund's expression darkened. He could no longer maintain his composure.

"Edmund, why do you look so bothered? Do you also think he went too far?"
