Anna served him his drink and placed it down on the bar where he rested his elbow. With a nod he thanked her and took the drink swallowing it down whole.
"Another?" Anna quizzes him.
"The bottle please."
"We don't sell it by the bottle only by measurements."
He turned to Anna, his eyes pierced into hers and his hand slid over the bar covering hers.
"I'll have the bottle."
Anna rolled her eyes at him and repeated the answer that , his fingers tightened around her hand, Anna started to feel panic as his hold was too tight and she wondered who this man was.
"Please you are hurting me."
His grip let go completely as he realised she was only human, He gazed about the bar which was empty.
"What is this place called?"
"Joes Bar." Her voice wavered as she answered the stranger.
"Sorry I meant this town."
"Oh it's called Elmond. What brings you here then?"
He gazed at her beauty as he studied her face, Anna tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear exposing her neck. His eyes caught a glimpse of the gold chain that had been hidden and he followed it to where it disappeared down into her top.
"That's a beautiful chain."
Instinctively Anna ran her fingers along it and smiled as she held the chain.
"Thank you my boyfriend gave it to me."
"Boyfriend?" Regan's eyes lit up inquisitively.
Anna bit her lip. She wasn't sure if she should have said boyfriend, it wasn't as if Henry and her had given each other a label on what they were.
"Can I have a closer look?"
Anna clasped the chain in her hand and held it.
"I just thought I recognised the metal it was made from."
Anna hadn't given it any thought where Henry had bought it, he never told her much about the city underground. Thinking that it would be okay, she held onto the chain around her neck and showed him the diamond
"This is no ordinary gold you know, It can only be made in certain places."
"Oh." Anna was trying to figure the man out, he didn't seem threatening anymore.
"Another whisky please." He held up his glass.
Regan studied Anna as she worked, she had passed him the bottle and told him to help himself and she would work out the price after. She was trying to busy herself, Joe was in his office so it was just her and the stranger. She started cleaning the tables in the bar when the stranger came up behind her.
"What does your boyfriend do?" Regan knew it was vampire gold and the markings on the necklace confirmed his suspicions.
Anna hadn't a clue what Henry did. "I'd rather not discuss my personal life with a stranger."
"Oh how rude of me." He held out his hand. "Regan."
She stared at his hand, he had long fingers which reached out towards her. She took it and his fingers wrapped around hers and he shook her hand gently. He held onto her after and pulled her into him.
"Where did you find that necklace?"
"I told you, my boyfriend gave it to me." Anna started to get worried now.
"You know it is a piece of vampire gold, humans don't possess this type of gold."
Regan brushed her hair back and pulled her head back so she was staring up at him, his eyes changed from the darkness that they were to a deep Red colour.
"You're a vampire?" Anna gasped.
"A hungry one also." His fangs protruded.
"You're not allowed to feed off us, only the higher vampires come every couple of days to feed off us." Anna said quickly.
He eased up the hold he had on her and repeated the question of where she got the necklace from.
"I don't know, my boyfriend gave it to me."
"When will he be back?"
Anna's eyes flicked back and forth, he tightened his hold again.
"Maybe tonight?" She didn't know what else to say.
"I can hear your heartbeat racing, see your blood pumping around your veins, if you promise not to scream I'll be gentle, you will only feel a little prick at the start of it not like what these vampires do."
"You can't take my blood." Anna covered her exposed neck with her hand.
"Oh I think I can." He moved her hand, opened his mouth and his fangs went to sink into her.
"I only let one vampire feed off me."
Now Regan was interested.
"You don't get a choice." He stood back, his red eyes staring into hers.
"I love him." Anna whispered and her eyes watered.
Everything fell into place for him now.
"You are in love with a vampire?"
"Yes, he gave me this, he visits me and every time we make love, I let him feed off me."
"You give yourself freely to a vampire?"
"Yes, I love him, I want to be with him." Anna looked into Regan's eyes which had turned back to the dark colour they were before.
"I'm sorry if I threatened you, I mean you no harm."
Now Anna was puzzled.
"Who are you?"
"Regan." He smiled at her. "Don't worry I'll keep your secret if you keep one for me?"
"What is your secret?"
"That I am a vampire." He smirked.
Anna went back behind the bar feeling the safety of something between them, not that it would make any difference.
"That is no secret?"
"It is if no one knows I'm here." He chuckled.
"Why do you not want anyone to know you are here?" Anna was puzzled.
He tapped his finger against his nose and poured himself another drink. Anna rested her chin on her hands studying him, he glanced at her.
"So this vampire you love, how long have you been seeing him?"
"Maybe a month or longer now? I can't remember."
"How do you meet?"
"He comes into my home."
Regan's eyes widened and he ran his tongue along his teeth, Anna had seen Henry do this on several occasions and worked it out that it was something vampires did when they were thinking.
"What made him come to you"
"He said it was because of my scent." Anna blushed "He just appeared inside my house one day."
"Did you fear him when you met him?"
"No, he drew me towards him, his kiss was something else."
"He kissed you first?"
"Yes he refused to drink from me in the beginning, he didn't want to hurt me."
"But he gave in."
"Yes, I made him, he was getting weaker every time." Anna ran through everything that had happened between them, Regan asked her about the sex they had, Anna was embarrassed to tell him as she felt it was her and Henry's private time together.
Finishing the bottle of whisky Regan paid handsomely.
"It was a pleasure meeting you Anna, I hope to see you again soon."
She still hadn't got an answer out of him as to who he really was and what he was doing here. He left, as soon as he walked out of the door several customers walked.
