Chapter 6 Worry

"Boss! The prisoners are making a lot of noise, what should we do with them?" Ben's voice filtered through the phone speaker as he gave his report.

"Shut them up!" Wayde said through gritted teeth.

"Noted" Was his only response before the line went dead.

Wayde tossed his phone to the side of the bed as he laid down, resting as the doctor ordered.

He just couldn't find it in him to rest, someone attacked Val and him at the same time, in the same way, they planted two women. According to Val's story, he had met the girl the day before just like he had met the doctor before. Did she know that Leo was his brother, was that why she treated him and also who sent her? These were things Wayde had to find out since Val was caught up at the moment and couldn't do much.

"I want every single detail on those ladies as well as the CCTV footage from the street of that night, Bring them over we'll look at them once he recovers" he spoke into the phone he had picked up again after dialling Ben.

"I want you to pay a visit to the club manager as well, whoever did this knew our location and other than the three of us, only the slimy manager knew, the employees as well and make a report on everything, I want it delivered as soon as possible" he ordered into the phone before hanging up.

Pulling the blanket over him once more he tried to fall back asleep, the evening sun was setting now, it's been hours since they came home and Val was still under observation by the nurses, his case was severe, he on the other hand, had been confined to using crutches until his leg heals up but it's only a matter of time, then he'll deal with whatever bastard that caused this.

Both ladies kept screaming until they heard the door click and the large man who had flung Vanessa out on the streets walked into the room.

"This is all a big misunderstanding, we didn't do anything to your bosses, I swear, I was trying to help him" The petite lady pleaded tears running down her cheeks

"Yeah, I'm sure you didn't, now I don't want to hear a single sound from you" He spoke sternly, glaring at the both of them

"Hey douche, she told you it was a misunderstanding, do we honestly look like assassins to you? Or are you just dumb" Vanessa bit her tongue immediately those words flew out of her mouth

The sound echoed through the room, and she tasted the blood in her mouth, her face stung from the force and she could feel her cheeks heat, tears welled up in her eyes from the overwhelming pain but she refused to shed tears

"You little bitch! I'll enjoy killing you once the boss gives the order" He spat with disdain, casting one final look at the both of them, he stormed out of the room

"Bastards! Assholes! You spineless pricks!! " Vanessa screamed after him, ignoring the pain in her jaws, if she was going to die, she'd make sure they went through hell first

She felt tapping against her feet and faced the only other occupants in the room

"I guess we're not leaving anytime soon, I'm Kimberly Lex, Dr. Kimberly Lex" She introduced, her voice hoarse from crying and screaming

"I'm Vanessa Rogue, Just Vanessa Rogue" she joked which drew a smile from her, one that perfectly hid the pain and fear in her brown beautiful eyes.

It's been over a week since both ladies were taken hostage at the Tino mansion, they were brought food once a day, the chains on their hands would be removed and they'd be made to eat with a gun facing them.

The guards would abuse, insult and downgrade both ladies while mocking them, some would even try to touch them.

This attitude and situation had weakened both ladies Morales Kimberly's was done, the more she stayed captive the more she felt herself chipping away, every night she cried when thoughts of Xavier flooded her head, he must be worried sick, who would make food for him, how was he doing, these questions plagued Kimberly's mind constantly.

Vanessa, however, stood by her initial plan of making them go through hell, every opportunity she got she screamed and cussed at them which earned her frequent hits from the monsters in charge of them. She had already accepted her fate of inevitable death, she had nothing to lose. The only thing she regretted was not fulfilling her parent's wish of her being an educated human rights lawyer, and also not being able to repay Nora for everything she'd done for her.

The days counted and Valentino and Wayde had finally recovered.

"Boss, all the information you asked for is ready, they've been ready since a week ago but we got a strict order from Boss not to bring them till you recovered" The man spoke, head low as he stood in front of both men, who sat with a glass of champagne in front of each. The former profiler who worked for both men once worked for the Federal government but retired when he got an offer from both businessmen, he handled the documentary aspect of the men's businesses both legal and illegal.

"What did you find?" Valentino asked as the files were placed in his, he skimmed through it and passed it over to Wayde.

"The one found with you boss, was a college student or better still a dropout, who moved to this city four years ago, only acquaintance is a 22-year-old who works at club luxury, found out that this friend of hers had snuck her into the party to look for clients"

"Clients?"

"Yes sir, she had monetary problems and had plans to strip and dance for the patrons of Club Luxury, so she had attended the party looking for clients, this information was gotten from the friend who snuck her into the club" He explained.

"Any criminal records? "

"She was arrested once for the destruction of public property, and public fighting but other than that she's clean"

"And what about that doctor? " Wayde asked, eyes scheming through the documents he was given

"Dr. Kimberly Lex just graduated medical school a few months ago, both parents deceased, only immediate family, Xavier Lex, younger brother. She's an ideal citizen, sir, never been arrested always paid her taxes and volunteered in senior centers, while making donations to orphanages and non-governmental organizations" He listed out

Everything he said corresponded with the documents in the hands of the businessmen.

"We also found the man responsible for your shooting, he works for Drone, they seemed to have planned this long before your meeting and he confirmed not having any relationship with the ladies in your custody, sirs"

"You can go now" Wayde dismissed with a sign as his fingers journeyed through his brown hair in frustration

"So they're innocent" Valentino stated the obvious fact.

"Seems so brother" Wayde responded, taking a sip of his drink.

"We have two innocent ladies, who would run to the police immediately they're released from here" He added.

"We control the police, that would not be a problem" Valentino spoke smugly

"Yeah but one person starts talking and others spring up, I need my campaign to go smoothly without any hitch and to do that I need to Avoid scandalous situations" Wayde reasoned with Tino, letting out another sign. He knew his brother never liked the diplomatic approach.

"I'm sure we can work out something brother, loosen up now, New York is already yours" Valentino sipped from his glass as he comforted his friend

Xavier was going crazy, his eyes red and the bags under them very evident, he was hurting and with only a few more hits he'd be broken.

His mind replayed the events of the past few days and he sank further into the bathtub as his eyes wandered lazily across the white walls of the bathroom. Being exhausted from shedding too many tears he just sat and stared as the water around him grew colder.

It's been five days since Jennie had burst into the apartment, screaming at the top of her voice for him to come. After calming her down she had retailed the events of their night out yesterday and had ended her tears field statement with two words that sent his brain and heart in haywire

"... Kim's gone" She cried out clutching his shirt in her fingers

His mind raced with thoughts and his initial reaction was to go find his sister, but he took a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself and the hyperventilating woman in front of him.

"Have you called the police?" Xavier asked as he led Jennie to the living room

"Yes I did, they said to wait for a few hours and that Kimberly may have taken off like the rest of us when we heard the gunshot," She said in between hiccups, Xavier went back into the kitchen and brought her a glass of water

"Okay, I'll take the car and go search for her and you stay here for when she returns "

Jennie could only muster a nod as she was too shaken up by the events of the night to form a proper sentence.

Xavier ran back into the kitchen and swiped the keys from the countertop. He ran out into the cold night and hopped into the 2013 model of the Ford Explorer, the engines roared to life, giving light to their already dead neighbourhood as everyone else was now asleep.

He sped off into the night in the direction of Club Luxury to look for his sister.

He had lost track of the time as he sped through the city, he'd been searching for hours. Starting from the club to neighboring businesses, he had searched every alleyway and cafe on his path but still no sign of his beautiful sister.

He had made calls to Jennie every hour to check if she came back home but he only got a negative response.

As the morning sun peeked behind the clouds and the noise of the city grew louder Xavier drove home dejected and close to tears.

He flopped on the couch and pulled his hands over his eyes

"Don't lose hope, I'm sure wherever she is she's fine, okay "

He peaked at her from in between his fingers, the beautiful lady looked Haggard, her eyes were puffy and red, her lips dried and chapped, and the sexy white dress she had worn for the outing was now a mess with various stains that Xavier could not tell the origin of.

"I'll go back home now, once I freshen up I'll come back and we can go to the police station together, I also need to call the hospital to tell them we're not coming in today " She spoke softly, after getting no response from the man she turned on her heels and left the apartment.

He picked himself up after a few minutes and Threaded to the bathroom. Even after his bath Xavier still looked like a hot mess and he just sat once again in the living room waiting for his sister's friend.
