Chapter 9 He Would Stay Here Tonight

Sophie was about to go upstairs to deliver the fruits to Colin and Tami. As she turned her head and saw Lola lying on the sofa, she, who was astounded, put down the fruit plate and ran over.

"Lola?"

"Lola?"

After Sophie called Lola a few times, Lola didn't respond. Her small face looked miserably pale and her forehead was scarily hot, making Sophie shout out in a hurry.

"Colin, Colin. Come down quickly. Lola fainted... "

...

It was already late at night when Lola woke up, only to find out that she was lying in an unfamiliar room with a light gray bed cover and simple modern-styled furniture.

She was dizzy for a while before she remembered that this was Colin's room, or, to be more exact, the room where he had lived in the Murphy Family house before getting married. He moved out after the wedding.

Lola struggled to get up. It wasn't until she moved that she found out a needle stuck in the back of her hand and a bottle of medicinal liquid was hanging next to her bed.

Upon noticing the silver needle, she felt that all the vital organs in her body hurt right away.

Ever since she was a child, she had been hating being given an injection!

When Colin came out after taking a shower, he saw Lola sitting on the bed and staring at her hand while wrinkling her face.

"Awaken?"

Lola narrowed her eyes gradually and even smiled at him slightly.

"I'm sorry. I've caused trouble for you."

Well, she was quite polite!

Colin frowned, "How do you feel? Feeling better?"

Lola confessed truthfully, "I'm still somewhat dizzy."

"Then lie down quickly!"

Why was this man so fond of using a commanding tone?

Although she had said sorry to him politely, he was that mean to her.

Feeling somewhat unhappy, Lola still lay down obediently. It was unknown why she felt somewhat frightened upon noticing the solemn and handsome look on Colin's face.

Colin threw away the towel and sat down on the edge of the bed, reaching out his hand to her head.

Lola shrank her shoulders instinctively, only to be pressed down by Colin. After that, his soft palm stuck on her forehead solidly.

He probably had just taken a shower. So his hand was cool. Lola could only feel a chill running through her body and goosebumps rising all over her body.

Noticing her staring blankly at him, Colin knitted his brows, "When did the fever start?"

Lola squeezed her fingers, "I... I got a little dizzy this morning."

"Why didn't you go to the hospital?"

"It's only a cold. I will be fine after taking some medicine."

Just a cold? And did she think she would be fine after taking some pills?

Colin bit on the back groove of his teeth, feeling that he urgently wanted to curse her all of a sudden, "Are you a three-year-old baby? Don't you even know you have a fever? If you didn't faint at home a moment ago, you might be dead now!"

Lola, who was shocked by his unexpected anger, bit her lips and looked aggrieved.

Why did this man become so angry inexplicably? He had said that she was a patient. Why was he so mean to her?

Colin hadn't been mean to her on purpose. He just couldn't help being angry. He was so angry.

Why did this girl brace herself to accompany his family members for dinner after knowing she was sick? Moreover, she had been trying her best to put on a show all night long, smiling so nicely and politely. It was impossible to tell that she was getting sick.

If he hadn't just heard from the doctor that she had a fever of thirty-nine point eight degrees, he wouldn't have been convinced. This girl was such a good actress.

As expected, hardly had he spoken a little louder when she turned red-eyed and aggrieved instantly, making him look like a big devil.

Colin, who was helpless, softened his tone, "Feeling better?"

Lola sniffled, "Much better. It's just... that my head is still somewhat dizzy."

Colin went out to call the doctor in a hurry, who came in to take her temperature and said that her fever had subsided. After that, Colin was relieved in secret. Sophie beside him also expressed her thankfulness to God several times.

By the time Lola finished having an intravenous drip, it was already past two a.m. The doctor packed up his things and left and Sophie saw him off.

After the door was closed, only she and Colin were in the room.

Unfortunately, Sophie had just told Colin to take good care of her, which meant that Colin would stay here tonight.

Lola gripped the blanket as her heart pounded. Suddenly, she wanted to pass out directly.
