Chapter 4 ACCIDENT

Inside the car, Osas then continued his conversation, "Well, we can't be sure for now. Are the tech team still obtaining real evidence from the hotel for you?" Detective Osas asked Anita.

"Yes, they were able to get into cctv of the hotel to check maybe the tapes has been manipulated."

"Alright, job well done Anita," Osas remarked her.

The current place they were driving was quiet and the drive was smooth. Osas then wanted to know more about Anita, "Anita, though have not informally spoken. Don't get me wrong I don't me like we speaking in a rude way. But in a way we get to know ourselves."

Anita then smiled and nods her head, she already understood what Detective Osas was trying to explain.

"So, moving futher, your last case was at ogun state. And it concerned some hoodlums that terrorized ademobi local government." Osas asked while he was focusing at the road.

Anita with full confidence replied, "Yes, It was easy to crack that case but not that easy. The sleepless nights, the threats I received, but most times I remember that the threats is part of the job, and I just got to do it. Sometimes I felt like resigning, but after a little thought, I remember the training i experienced at the academy and also recall the oath I took when I joined the police force and the willingness that criminals are to be brought to justice."

Osas could see how happy Anita was when she spoke on her experience, he smiled and continue to listen and drive.

Anita was still sharing her experience, "When I remember it, it strengthen me and gives me a whole lots of confidence."

"Why is this truck coming at full speed?" Osas laid out a question, he then averted the truck and continues his discussion with Anita.

The truck changes to their direction again, facing their car, then boom the car they were driving was run over by a man who was driving a trailer truck, this caused Detective Osas to loose control of his car, the car started rolling down the hill. The worst part of it was the other side of the road, was very rocky, occupied by rocks and the car kept moving down with speed, Osas kept marching the brake of the vehicle, then boom, the car bash against one big rock, and it went flew up landed and started rolling on the ground, the two Detectives inside the car immediately lost consciousness and that was the last thing they knew.

LOCATION - Accident spot

The spot of the accident was closed, the press were roaming about trying to get a good picture and content so they could sell well. Uche on hearing the accident of Detective Osas and Anita went crazy, he wasn't giving any room for anyone to conclude. He just kept using dangerous words.

"If this was done by any politician or any bastard he better be prepared for me, am an angry lion and also hungry ready to devour anyone."

"Sir, I just got the dashcam out of Detective Osas car".

" Good, give it to me, I will see the tech guys then move to the hospital".

Uche moving around in anger, went straight to where his subordinates were, they were the ones below him, he ordered , "No reporter must be seen close to this site and anyone that tries to fly a drone, should be dealt with, while the drone must be destroyed. Is that clear?"

They all responded, "Yes sir."

Uche walks away from the main scene spot, enters his car, his phone rang, it was the commissioner's call.

"Sir, Detective Uche reporting sir," that was in form of solidarity

"What your current location?"

"The accident site of the Detectives, Sir"

The commissioner of police then gave his order, "Detective Uche we are going back in time, its time to involve the special squad, as they want to mess with the force, am ready to mess with them, and that's an order." Then the call ended.

Uche arrived at the police base and angrily went upstairs, the way he responded to the officers that greeted him was so fast, like he doesn't have anytime to waste.

"Here you go Chidi, make sure you check all the videos, don't leave anything out, am sure this dash cam can lead us to the manipulator of the accident." Detective Uche hands over the dashcam to Chidi who was seated facing his computer.

Detective Uche, then walked out of the tech department, he brought out his phone and gave a quick order.

Detective Uche walked directly to where the Alpha team were, the most skillful team in the special squad. On sighting him with a serious face, all the officers stood and kept still on a single ranking file from the shortest to the tallest.

"Attention everywhere, all Alpha team officers, I'm going to be in charge of this squad until the return of Detective Osas, we have been faced with an underrated act, how will an assassin be sent to kill our detectives. So, Alpha team I just want you all to know that the commissioner isn't happy at all. So, he gave a direct order, the direct order from the Commissioner of police, is that we come together to deal with those idiot immediately, this incident is a slap on our face."

"Do anyone have anything to say?"

An officer who was standing still wanted to ask a question, "Sir,permission sir."

"Carry on," Uche then gave him a go ahead.

"Sir, are you telling us to use any method to deal with the offenders, and is Detective Osas aware of the involvement of the special squad?"

Uche then looked at him, he walked directly to stand in front of the him, " Use any method, you have been giving the permission to deal with them in the hard or soft way I don't care, all I want is for them to be dealt with and for now the two detectives, are opted out from field duty."

"So, I have given the dash cam to the tech guys, we will know how the accident happened, so special squad Alpha team are you ready?, for now we dont know who we are up against but am sure will defeat and bring them to justice."

"Sir,yes sir," they all answered in unison.

Uche looked at them and he smiled and said, "I have always been hot headed, but this time am going to fight smart, our plans mustn't be known, they messed with the police force, am going to make regret they were never born."

"You all are dismissed, wait for further orders." Uche dismissed the team.

Presently at the hospital, Uche went to check on the Detectives. He sat beside Osas bed, presently he was in Osas ward. Detective Osas was laying down on the hospital bed, he had his clothes changed already, he was putting on the hospital clothes and his left hand was bandage, he received drip on his right hand.

Osas was opening his eyes slowly, much happiness could be seen on Uche's face when he noticed his superior had responded to the treatment given to him.

"Sir, you are awake. It's I Uche."

"Uche," Detective Osas Said in a low tone.

Uche responded happily, "Yes sir, Just rest a little, you will get better soon."

Immediately, Detective Osas recalled that he wasn't the only one involved in the accident, he remembered detective Anita.

"What of Anita?" He asked while looking round the room.

Uche then trying to calm him down, "I just checked on her before I got here. She is still unconscious, but she isn't in coma, I already have officers placed on her door , the security at her door is very secured, no one goes in without proper questioning."

Osas still struggles to get up from bed, "But, I still got to see her."

Then uche assisted him in moving, he sat down on a wheelchair and took him to Anita's ward. On getting to the ward which Anita was in, all the officers at the door saluted immediately they sighted the Detectives approaching.

After staring at Anita laying down, receiving treatment, drip was passed through her vein and her head was tied with bandage.

Osas got pissed and he gave an angry order, "Uche, I want you to catch the bastard that did this."

"Oga, no be you suppose dey tell me this, as I dey my blood dey boil, I wan catch those bastards"

(Sir, you aren't supposed to be telling me this, presently now am angry, all I want is to catch the bastard culprit). Uche gave his reply to Osas.

"This is news @ 12." The newscaster who works for FPTV started. The presentation location was the commissioner of police office, he was going on through some files until the news popped up then he showed full interest listening to the news.

"The Detective of NIGERIA POLICE force Detective Osas and his assistant was involved in an accident, and the police is trying to deny the fact that the accident occurred. But presently we have news men on the scene." On listening to content of news, the Commissioner of Police picked up the remote control placed on the table and switched off the TV.

Immediately he ordered his secretary, "Call me Uche, tell him to report to my office immediately."

Uche phone rang while he was still in the room with Osas, "Okay I'll be there asap."

"Sir, I have to go, it an order from above the commissioner is seeking my presence." Uche told detective Osas.

Now, Uche already arrived at the Commissioner's office, facing the commissioner after giving him his compliment. Uche standing on attention, without fidgeting.

"I thought I directly made it clear that no reporters must be aware of this incident, but now what I'm seeing is something different. How did the news about the accident went out of the police.

"Sir, I did carry out the order, no reporters were allowed in the crime scence, but sir as I was coming here, I got a call and a report that an anonymous gave the tip to the news people, and my guess is that its the people that are involved in this crime."

The commissioner then placed his right hand on his chin, "If that is the case, we now know the people we are facing have strong connection inside the government, and detective Uche i still want you to carry out the order I gave you."

"Sir," Uche responded in solidarity and stood at attention.

"This should be a top classified case, no one is expected to know about this, we must hit them hard, am I clear."

Uche stood at ease when responding, "Yes sir, very clear," after the response he then moved back to attention."

"You are dismissed." The commissioner gave Uche the permission to carry on. Uche banged his left leg and saluted immediately with his right hand.

Uche already out of the commissioner's office. He went straight into his car, sat down on the driver seat and brought out his phone and dialed a number waiting for the receiver to pick up.

"Were you able to track the culprits?"

The caller on the other end replied him, "Sir, we were able to get the faces of these people, but at the same time, these people seems not to have any data on the police database, they are like ghost moving in the human world."

The look on Uche's face changed, he tightened his left hand on the car steering, "Who are these people, are they trying to get the police force ridiculed."

"Is there not a way you can fetch out the identity of these people, or better still can you get me the place they do visit, be it restaurant, club, Cinema, viewing centre, bar and so on. I just want something on them, I also want to know if they are related to the Rasaq Akeem we are searching for."

"Sir, I have sent you an attached file to you just now, one place they were currently seen at, so the files contains their pictures."

"Good, am going towards there, watch my six and monitor my GPS incase if I'm in need of back up."

"Yes sir," Call ended.

Uche drives out of the the garage and he moved with full speed, now heading towards

Gbagada side of Lagos, "I will have to deal with this bastard hard," he picked up his phone from his side, put on his handsfree, "Get all special squad ready, current location Gbagada road, something might go down tonight." He then ended the call.

Got to the bar at Gbagada, it's currently 8pm, Uche went in undercover like a regular,his plans were left to him, he wanted to study the area, before his boys could hit there.

As he went into the bar, looking around, finding some clues. A man dressed in white corporate shirt, opened the button showing his chest.

"Look who will have here, the famous Detective Uche." The Rasaq Akeem who he was looking for disturbed the plans Uche had already set in place.

Just to pretend "And you are?" Uche asked stylishly.

Rasaq Akeem stares at Uche, Uche still stays as if he doesn't know him.
