Chapter 5 5

"Okay" Leigh said tentatively while heaving a sigh. "I'll help you" she stated bluntly. "But" she added pausing momentarily. "i'll only do it if you promise to stay away from me" she said with an icy tone.

Theo stared at her blankly. "I'll try" he responded with indignation.

"It's not a request " she stated dryly. "I didn't sign a contract of helping you, the first time I did it, was out of free will" she said solemnly.

Theo remained silent trying to nurture his malled ego, her words were jabbing his ego over the edge.

He moved closer to her and she backed from him. "Why are you here?" he suddenly asked vehemently biting his lower lip. Leigh stared at him suprise written on her face. It was as if she had seen a ghost wearing the Pope's robes.

"Why i'm I here?" she snorted. "You texted me, or did you forget?"

"You know what I mean." Theo drawled. "You could have ignored my text"

"So what are you implying?" she asked wryly.

"I know you want to be here, you had a choice to make and you choose to help me no matter the consequence" Theo stated nonchalantly.

Leigh let out a bitter laugh while visibly giving Theo a wavering look. "I helped you yes" she said. "And it was clearly a mistake, I should have let you die"

Theo's face etched suprise and he sighed. "Dont you feel it?" he asked dryly.

"Feel what?"

"The bond"

"which bond" Leigh arched a brow.

Theo dug his fingers and tunneled his hair roughly. His lips tentatively twitched but he hesitated. "I thought you knew already" he stuttered.

"i don't know what you are talking about." she stated with a clouded gaze.

"You are my mate" he stated nonchalantly while lowering his head briefly and observed Leigh. The words were short and intended, exact to the point.

Leigh's lips parted, she wanted to say something but her lips suddenly became heavy, it was as if it was no longer her's. Her gaze went vacant, weirdly, she felt her heart warming to Theo's words. It was more weirder how her heart was racing while talking to him, the euphoria she had felt when she first saw him. How she had sleepless nights thinking of him, this was mad.

Leigh knew about mate bond, but she only thought it was possible among werewolves and Vampires, she seemed it impossible for werewolves to have mates who were not werewolves, she was a witch, and yet the attraction she felt for Theo was out of this world and surreal.

No, she can't. She can't allow herself to fall in love with a killer.

"This was a mistake." she mumbled. "I should never have comed here" she grunted and immediately turned to leave leaving Theo standing with shock on his face.

She clinged her backpack closer to her body as she walked hurriedly on the squares pavements, she had walked for sometime while occasionally gazing back.

When she was sure Theo was out of eyeshot, she gaze around for a spot to sit, she walked to a tree and leaned against the bark while gliding to the floor. She wondered what help Theo wanted from her, she was still skeptical about him, he was a dangerous man nonetheless.

She thought about the bond, was it true she was his mate?. Why was she suddenly having dreams about him just few days after meeting him?

The bond is just a fabrication of being claimed, she thought silently. She had heard stories of how werewolves claimed their mates, if the so called mates refused, they would be taken by force. She doubted if that was going to happen to her. Theo wouldn't try that knowing all too well she was a western witch.

But, did she want him to claim her?

How will she make those weird feelings nagging her to go away.

She had stayed beneath the tree and didn't realize dusk approaching.

Sunset is the time of day when our sky meets the outer space solar winds. There are blue, pink, and purple swirls, spinning and twisting, like clouds of balloons caught in a blender. The sun moves slowly to hide behind the line of horizon, while the moon races to take its place in prominence atop the night sky. People slow to a crawl, entranced, fully forgetting the deeds that still must be done. There is a coolness, a calmness, when the sun does set.

Leigh stood and with one glance over her shoulders, she left for home.

Dalton, a 500 years old vampire stood looking outside a large window facing the busy Demonville town, he was dressed in a black tuxedo with a golden lapel.

His looks however, made him looked extremely terrifying gorgeous, if saying he was handsome would be an understatement.

People had always remarked that his best feature was his entrancing, wayfarer-blue eyes. Sloe shaped, they could shine as bright as the evening stars when they were a-light with joy. At other times, they could resemble two liquid-blue pools of flashing fire. Flamboyant of character, the room always filled with his sonorous, rumbling voice. He was also quick to crack a joke or fire off a humorous retort.

Someone knocked on his door and he ushered them in with a deep voice. "Come in Sheldon" he said.

The door was slowly pushed and a young man definitely in his early twenties entered and looked at the ground. "Master, you have visitors." he stated softly.

Dalton had already perceived this, his hearing unlike those of humans could detect sound from very far.

Dalton's mansion sat at an hundred hectares estate worth millions of money, this of course is due to the many years he had lived and acquired vast wealth. Two men sat waiting for him at his exquisite modern living room.

Dalton walked towards the men who quickly stood when they saw him, he waved them lightly. "Gentlemen, sit down" he stated solemnly while sitting opposite them crossing his legs while leaning on the couch.

One of the men, with quite striking features to him, only that he was not much stunning spoke. "We were able to track Malia Reese descendants down, there is a whole family living at the outskirts of town, her great grandson is married with two twin girls"

Dalton listened with patience and when the young man finished speaking he smiled. "I'm impressed Jacques, I knew you were upto the task" he paused momentarily and turned to the other young man who seemed rather uncomfortable. "what about you Zeko, were you successful in your endeavor?" he asked dryly, he hardened his gaze at Zeko already expecting his answer, he had already detected his heartbeat rate and knew what to expect.

"No master" Zeko mumbled gazing at the ground. "The young girl moved out of Demonville years back, we tried locating her but it seems that nothing was left of her" he added wryly.

Dalton breathed in noisily. "I'll be patient with you Zeko because you are the son of my sister, but I won't be patient for long, my brother has suffered long enough in that coffin, I need you to track this virgin girl and bring her within two weeks time, unless you want me to desecate you" he threatened icily.

"Yes master" Zeko replied solemnly.

Dalton's demeanor shifted as he stirred to his feet with a smile. "Gentlemen, you can join me for a drink" he said walking towards a fridge located at the far end of the living room.

He took three blood bags from the fridge and placed them on a nearby table before taking three silver goblets and poured the blood handing them. The men took the goblets and downed the contents sighing with contentment.

Dalton's lips curled into a smile before he downed his own goblet.

He stood over a white coffin with a glass top, inside was a man, pale and grey. Veins were visible on his body and he seemed to be in a very deep sleep.

Dalton prowled around the coffin. "I'm almost successful brother, soon, I'll be able to bring you back" he whispered softly while breathing noisily.

With one last look, he left
