Chapter 6 Come To Her Rescue

"Honey, why are you standing here arguing with these people?"

Hearing the deep and magnetic voice, Lucia, Mina, and Jonah turned around at the same time. When Lucia saw who it was, she was stunned.

"Who is this guy? After getting dumped by Jonah, you found this toy boy to play with, huh?" Mina sneered. This man was extremely handsome, and she felt jealous.

'After all, Lucia is just a regular girl. She is not from an upper class and has to work hard to make ends meet. How could she be with any elite man? The only upper class men who might be interested in her must be really old.' Mina figured the handsome man must be a pimp, who slept with wealthy women for money.

"Honey, how can you have such terrible taste?" With one hand in his trouser pocket and the other hand around Lucia's waist, Malcolm raised the corners of his lips charmingly. Even though it was such a simple question, there was obviously a sarcastic tone to it. Despite his beautiful smile, his tone sent chills down their spines.

"You must be some kind of pimp who sleeps with people for money. Don't make a fool of yourself," Mina retorted immediately.

"Alright, Mina, let's head back." Jonah pulled Mina away before she said something too offensive.

Although the man in front of him looked quite harmless, Jonah was obviously intimidated by him.

"Jonah, do you still love her? Why are you so bothered about me being mean to her? Don't forget that if it wasn't for me, you'd still be working to earn your daily bread!" Mina was furious and gritted her teeth.

"Oh, yeah? Gomez Properties, right?" Malcolm asked with a frown after thinking for a moment.

"At least you are sensible enough for a commoner!" Mina gave him a contemptuous glare.

Even though Malcolm's suit was elegant, there was no designer label on it. She thought that it must obviously be an expensive outfit from a regular shop.

"Lucia, only a man with empty pockets like him would be with someone like you. Jonah doesn't want you. You are just like a used pair of shoes." Mina did not want to let Lucia go so easily.

Lucia's clenched fists began to sweat slightly. She could not bear to be mocked by someone like her. She wanted to shake off Malcolm's hand and leave at once. However, she failed.

"I'm sorry," Lucia whispered in Malcolm's ear after she turned around and stood on her tiptoes.

Without saying a word, he looked deep into her eyes in silence. She stopped struggling, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him. For a second, he tried to restrain his urge to kiss her back, but then, he could not. They began kissing passionately as though they were alone there. Only when Lucia was out of breath did Malcolm let go of her.

"What did you say now? Do you really think my boyfriend even needs to be validated by the likes of you? I think you have the wrong idea. I dumped Jonah, and you took him into your arms. Do you have any more questions for me?" Lucia's tone was cold, and her smile was sarcastic.

"All right then. Tell me, what does your low-life boyfriend do?" Mina was unwilling to become a laughingstock. She could not believe that Lucia would be able to date an outstanding man.

"Me? Well, I am just a regular office worker," Malcolm replied casually.

"At least an office worker is better than a pimp, I guess! Do you also work for a cheap media company like she does?" It was clear that Mina looked down upon him.

Looking at Malcolm, Lucia opened her mouth, but she did not say a word. She knew that a man who had afforded such an expensive suite in Asopool was definitely not a regular guy. Maybe it was her vanity that inspired her to keep quiet.

"Evans Group," Malcolm replied flatly.

"Humph! Even though Evans Group is a big company, you're still just an employee, so you're practically nothing. But Jonah here is the general manager of Gomez Properties!" Holding Jonah's arm tightly, Mina looked at Lucia with contempt.

"His life has nothing to do with you. It's good that you are a noble lady who is living a very happy life. Let's go, Malcolm. We're only downgrading ourselves by talking to them." With a disgusted look in her eyes, Lucia glanced at the couple in front of her before leaving.

Malcolm still wore a faint smile, but his eyes had a slight gleam as he followed her. He held her waist with one hand as though he was declaring that she belonged to him. And right before he left, he glanced at Mina and Jonah with a frown.

"You can let go now. I am sorry for using you," Lucia said calmly, trying to keep a distance from him.

"Why don't we keep playing?" Malcolm asked, lifting her chin with his finger. "Are you worried that my status might not be as good as his?" Malcolm chuckled.

"If you can afford to get such a luxurious suite, then you are not a regular guy, for sure! It's just that this game is no longer interesting," Lucia said coldly and pushed his hand away from her chin.

"Oh, yeah? Looks like you have a lot of confidence in me." Saying that, Malcolm let go of her.

"Why did you come here anyway?" Lucia suddenly felt that the coincidence of his appearance was just ridiculous.

When they met in Asopool, it was by accident. How could they meet again in Strinas? And under such odd circumstances?

"It's obvious that we were destined to meet again." As Malcolm smiled, his dimples showed up. His voice was so magnetic and irresistible.

'Huh?' Thinking about it, Lucia's mind went blank. 'Does he mean that we should have sex tonight as well?' Speechless, she rolled her eyes at him and was about to leave.

"Oh my God! A hero has saved the beauty! Lucia, tell us, who is the handsome man? Are you in a relationship with him? Oh, wow! You guys kissed..."

When Lucia's colleagues did not see her return after a long time, they thought that something might have happened to her, so they came to look for her. That was when they saw Mina picking a fight with her. They were about to help Lucia when they saw Malcolm.

"You're probably imagining things. Stop it, or I will tell something to your girlfriend!" Lucia warned Hayes.

"Damn, why do women always have to be such cunning creatures? You are poison, Lucia! Since you have your hero to accompany you, we will have fun alone. I am sure every moment of your romantic night with him is going to be precious, so don't miss out on that," Hayes teased.

"I'm leaving now!" Not wanting to talk nonsense, Lucia left.

And Malcolm followed her. It was obvious that his appearance was not mere coincidence. After he had left his office, Malcolm had gone to the place where Lucia lived, following the address that Bob had given him. He had seen her hailing a taxi. After following her to the bar, he had seen Mina insulting her.

It appeared that they were destined to meet again in a bar, after all.

"Let me take you home." Malcolm did not care if Lucia resisted him. He just took her hand and started walking towards his car.

Without putting up a fight, Lucia followed him.

During their quiet drive, neither of them spoke. Lucia closed her eyes, sitting in his car. The soft music that was playing was making her feel drowsy. She rolled down the window to keep herself awake. Malcolm did not mind that at all and continued to drive.

He was really handsome, and according to Lucia, his looks were unparalleled. She remembered that he had long eyelashes, and now she realized that his eyelashes were much thicker than she thought. His concentration while driving only added to his charm.

"Are you pleased now?" Malcolm asked all of a sudden as he turned to look at Lucia, who was in a daze.

He knew that she had been staring at him for a while now. Lucia studied him as though she did not want to miss enjoying any part of him.

"Yes. I'm so pleased that I want to make you mine," Lucia answered casually. After having so many drinks at the bar, her tone was full of seduction.

"Here we are." Malcolm ignored her words and looked at her, indicating that they had arrived.

After parking the car in the basement, he walked around it to open the door for her like a true gentleman. Lucia was taken by surprise. She was used to people treating her casually, and never expected to be treated like royalty.

"Where am I?" As soon as the early summer breeze grazed her skin, she sobered up. It was obviously not her house, and nor was it a place she knew.

"My place," Malcolm said coolly.

Upon hearing that, Lucia was speechless. It was the first time that a man had taken her to his house so easily.

"Didn't you want to make me yours?" Malcolm chuckled. Lucia was the first woman in his life to tell him that she wanted him for herself.

However, she was still in shock. Her casual words had bit her in the back. She was drunk when she was fascinated by his looks, and that was the reason she had told that in the car. All of a sudden, she burst into laughter. When she had first met him in Asopool, she had gone to his room without any questions at all, and now, she was doing the same. How she was unable to resist him was a mystery to her. 'Does he have some kind of magic powers?'

Malcolm put his arm around her waist as he escorted her into the elevator. And only after they reached the topmost floor of the building did the elevator stop. He then swiped the key card and input the password before he opened the door and walked in.

The apartment had classic yet modern decor. It was a very large duplex apartment. The beautiful French windows in the living room caught Lucia's eye. As she looked out of the windows, she was able to see the most beautiful view of the city. Surprisingly, it was a starry night, and Lucia stood there gazing at the sky.

"Isn't it beautiful?" Malcolm asked softly as he walked up to her and hugged her from behind.

"Yes, it is. Do you know how rare it is to see stars in Strinas? I thought that all the stars here disappeared into the dark sky." Under the dark night sky, Lucia could no longer resist Malcolm and leaned her back against his chest.

"What are you thinking about? I'll give you a gift in exchange for your thoughts," Malcolm said casually.

"My thoughts are very precious, so what gift are you going to give me in return?" Lucia asked, chuckling.

"I can give you everything that you could hope for," Malcolm said calmly, still hugging her tightly.

"I want a marriage. Can you give me that?" With that, Lucia stared at him for a moment before she broke into laughter.

She did not know him at all. She had slept with him once, and she knew that his name was Malcolm. However, she did not even know if that was his real name. Moreover, she also had no clue of what he did for a living. Considering his mannerisms, she figured that he must be from a good family background. But then, a liar would also be very good at acting.

"Oh, come on! Don't look at me like that, I was just joking. I don't need gifts. I was just recalling my past," Lucia said with a laugh when she turned around and saw Malcolm's frown.

After all, anyone would be shocked if someone proposed to them after only meeting them twice. They would wonder if the person who was proposing was crazy, or if they had heard them wrong. So it was only natural that Malcolm seemed lost after he heard that from her.

"I..." Malcolm paused and looked at Lucia with a strange gleam in his eyes.
