"Protect Mr. Brooks!"

Ethan noticed the chaos right away and rushed in with the bodyguards.

The Brooks family's guards immediately formed two human walls around Alexander.

Anyone trying to get close to him was instantly blocked.

Richard Grant was completely stunned.

So was Margaret Lane.

A-Alexander?

The heir of the Brooks family, the one who basically runs Seaview City, rich beyond measure and powerful beyond belief-that Alexander?

"M-Mr. Brooks? Is it really you? I-I'm Vivian's father, Richard Grant, the CEO of Grant Group." Richard stepped forward excitedly, hand outstretched as if to shake hands.

Alexander gave him a single icy word: "Leave."

He wasn't dumb-he knew exactly how poorly they'd treated his girl at the Grant house.

And it ticked him off.

If he had found her sooner, maybe she wouldn't have had to suffer so much.

"." Richard's face flushed red in an instant.

He quickly turned to look at Vivian for help, giving her a look as if begging her to speak up.

But to his shock, Vivian didn't even glance at him.

Her eyes were fixed on Alexander like she couldn't get enough of him.

And Alexander, in a rare mood, felt like-even surrounded by these annoying people-it wasn't so bad anymore.

His girl was looking at him.

Not at Ryan.

"Vivi," Alexander said.

He only called her that because Ryan had said it earlier, not realizing how much that name hit her deep down.

It had been two whole years since she last heard it.

Vivian's body trembled just slightly-she almost threw herself into his arms and begged him to never leave her again.

But she quickly pinched herself, forced herself to calm down, and asked with a bit of confusion, "What?"

"Come home with me, okay?" For the first time, Alexander asked for someone's opinion.

"Sure," Vivian answered without hesitation.

She'd been wondering just now-last time, Alexander basically went crazy when he saw her in a wedding dress and ordered Ethan and the others to grab her on the spot.

This time around, without that same shock, how was she supposed to get him to take her?

Turned out, he still wanted to.

And hearing her say yes just like that, Alexander's eyes darkened slightly as he pulled her tightly into his arms.

His girl was just too sweet.

"Wait! Mr. Brooks, you can't just-" Richard spoke up quickly when he saw Alexander turn to leave with Vivian in his arms.

Was this a joke?

This was supposed to be Vivian and Ryan's engagement party! If she walked out now, how was he supposed to explain this to the Harris family?

"I can't?" Alexander turned and gave him a look-pure intimidation locked onto Richard like a target. The man nearly collapsed on the spot.

Yeah right-what can't Alexander do? Taking his adopted daughter? That was nothing.

He could destroy Grant Group with one command if he felt like it.

Richard honestly felt like a complete idiot.

Right then, Logan walked over, leaning on his cane.

"Vivian, about today... it's us Harris folks who owe you an apology," he said sincerely.

"You don't have to be so polite, Mr. Harris." Vivian gave him a slight nod and smiled, faint and distant.

She remembered how, back in the countryside, she'd healed his illness under a different identity, and he thought she was just a good friend of that mystery doctor. So he'd treated her extra nicely.

But in her past life, because of Ryan and the Knights scheming against Alexander-it got Alexander killed. And for that, there was no way she could ever feel close to Logan again.

Logan's expression darkened a bit. "Vivian... you won't even call me Grandpa Harris anymore?"
