Chapter 5

Gu Shichuan carefully arranged Song Wanwan's belongings. As he bent over, Song Wanwan suddenly walked over and wrapped her arms around his waist.

My heart tightened. Here I was, recently passed away, and yet the two of them were so intimate, as if Gu Shichuan had never been married.

Gu Shichuan's body stiffened, clearly wanting to back away, but Song Wanwan held on tighter, resting her head against his back and murmuring softly.

"Chuan, can you give me another chance? I didn't mean to leave you back then. If it weren't for my mom falling ill, I wouldn't have taken Gu's family money and left."

Ah, so it was about money to save someone, leading to their inevitable breakup-such a cliché plot, yet Gu Shichuan remembered it all this time.

Gu Shichuan let out a laugh that was hard to read.

"If you had told me the truth back then, we wouldn't have ended in regret. If my dad could give you money, don't you think I could have too?"

Song Wanwan was momentarily speechless.

But she was clever. She knew that Gu Shichuan now despised me, so she quickly shifted the topic to me.

"Is it because you hate me that you stood by when Sang Ning bullied me? She smeared my reputation at the company, hired hooligans to beat me up, and even refused to donate a kidney when I fell ill. Is this your way of getting back at me?"

Lies!

Song Wanwan was lying. Everything she said was false. I didn't even know where her company was located.

Moreover, as an orphan, how could I have the power to hire a bunch of hooligans?

If one were to investigate thoroughly, Song Wanwan's accusations would fall apart. Yet, Gu Shichuan believed every word.

And those complete fabrications by Gu Shichuan were pure fiction. Ever since he learned of these accusations, he had dragged me out of my company in front of all my colleagues, his expression twisted with anger, as if I had done something shameful.

He even gathered a group of hooligans to watch me be humiliated and beaten.

I cowered in the corner, overwhelmed by despair, trembling as they filmed me in humiliating situations.

Gu Shichuan sat by, watching the spectacle. In the end, he waved the phone in front of me, a slight threat in his voice.

"If you dare to harm Wanwan again, I won't hesitate to upload these videos online. This will be your permanent shame."

No matter how many times I insisted it wasn't me, Gu Shichuan seemed deaf to my pleas, never believing me.

Now, as Song Wanwan brought up the past, Gu Shichuan didn't even tell her how he had tortured me because of her slander.

How ironic. I couldn't understand why Gu Shichuan didn't love me, yet chose to marry me.
