"O'Neil's such a fucker" I cursed under my breathe.
The door creaked open and I didn't bother to look up as I continued to stare into nothing in particular.
"Wedding fever ayy?" O'Neil's sharp voice cut through the air.
What the actual fuck. What the fuck is he even doing in here.
"You really outdid yourself you know, sweeping Jenna off her feet like that" he continued. "If anything I'm really impressed, boy. "
I shifted my gaze to the figure who was now standing before me.
O'Neil didn't or should I say doesn't strike as an old money tycoon at first glance, but then again you just know he comes from old money.
His neatly ironed plain tee sat perfect on his frail body. A Valentino crest on the side of his shirt subtly giving him away.
"If only Jenna knew her soon to be husband is a sly fox looking for all means to hide from public shame"
His gaze fell on the desk, eyeing the glass of whiskey by my side before picking it up.
"Staring at me with dead eyes wouldn't call off the wedding, Rob. You sure as hell know that" he said casually, lowering himself into the chair across my table.
"You asshole-"
"No no no, that's no way for the supposed manager of RD companies to talk to a prospective business partner now" he's voice now louder than it once was.
"Think of it as Favour, cause if you look on the brighter side it's a win win for us both" he laughed.
He continued "you know what Rob?" He jerked up from his chair, pointing aggressively to my face as he spoke. " if you continue to act this way you're going to fuck this all up for me! Jenna! And both our companies. So if you know what's best for us both you're going to keep up with this goddamn lie!"
O'Neil's voice boomed across the room as he continued to pace around the room like a lost dog.
"I'm talking to you motherfucker! Speak up! be a man!"
I've known O'Neil for the longest time to know what kind of man he is. He wants a reaction, but no. He is not going to get that, not from me.
"You arrogant little-"
The door swung open so quickly stopping O'Neil from completing his statement.
It was my secretary Maryjane.
"I'm sorry for the intrusion. I heard yelling, is everything okay?" Her voice sharp with concern.
O'Neil freezes while he clears his throat "Ah yes! It's just a little argument on inflation these days." His voice was smooth and casual like the last few minutes didn't happen.
Maryjane's expression didn't seem quite convincing. Her eyes flickered between us as she hesitated to shut the door.
I cleared my throat "so what have you come to discuss today?"
"As you know the wedding between you and Jenna is going to bring both our companies together" he replied.
"I know that, O'Neil. Cut to the chase"
A light hearted laughter flew across the room while he straightened his jacket.
"You seem to forget Jenna is a key to every locked door to your company Rob. Before you know it the entire world is going to know that the famous billion dollar RD companies is running at a loss"
"Fuck" I cursed under my breath.
How did he know? I have to keep this under control before O'Neil does something crazy.
"Look O'Neil I get it. Nobody ever said anything about calling off the wedding." I paused to scan his expression.
There it was. He began to look calm, his brows less furrowed together as I spoke.
"Asides the wedding arrangements, there would be a board of directors meeting to talk about both our companies shares and every other thing that needs to be done."
O'Neil's eyes pierced into mine searching for something.
Fear? Sympathy? I would as much liked to go to hell than stroke his fucking ego.
"Why do you want this so bad, O'Neil? The marriage"I questioned, leaning forward.
He raised a brow seemingly shocked by the question. "I'm not getting any older you see, I just need an heir."
"And you know why I picked you? Because you're a smart man Rob, as savvy as you are, you are also very calculative and I admire that." He paused to take a sip from the drink he once held.
"Also because your dad was a good man, so bringing your company back up from bankruptcy is like repaying a Favour"
I gave a small smile "I appreciate that, O'Neil"
He added "Jenna has major shares from the company, getting married not only gives you a cut from that share, but gives you total control." He leaned forward pointing a finger at the desk. "This marriage gives you leverage Rob-more than any deal you've struck"
O'Neil was making sense though. With how depreciated our market value has become , Jenna has got the key to boost us up in the blink of an eye.
Asides from coming to yell like a rabid dog, he still manages to be sensible.
I nod my head in agreement.
"Well! I guess that would be all for now." He got to his feet, straightening up his jacket.
"And look alive too. You're going to be married in a few days my friend" a sinister laugh followed as the door closed shut.
