"Oh my God, what am I doing?" I snapped out of it. Why was I thinking of Tyler? Natasha will ruin me if I get close to him.
I wore my uniform and braided my hair in twin braids. I came out, ate my breakfast, kissed my mom goodbye, and ran to the next street so they wouldn't see me. I caught the bus and it drove off.
I arrived at school and walked in, frowning, noticing people were staring at me but not in a bad way.
"Is she really a rich girl?"
"I heard her parents are spies. That's why she dresses like a poor nerd."
"I think she's a model."
"I heard that her mom owns a big company."
"Either way, she's so cute and hot."
"I heard her dad is a rich mafia boss, The ultimate novel fantasy"
"OMG!"
What's everyone talking about? I don't feel comfortable with this situation.
I went to my locker and opened it. I yelped as a girl jumped in beside me.
"Hi Reyna! Who are your parents?"
"Are they international spies?" another girl asked.
"Reyna, you're so cool!"
"Are they really that rich?
"I heard her parents are famous actors. That's why she doesn't want anyone to know who she is because of the paparazzi, Reyna tell us.
"OMG, I wish I could be like you. So cool!"
People gathered around me, making my chest beat faster. I felt a headache coming from being around this crowd, chanting my name.
I seriously wanted to run away, but everyone blocked my way. I had no place to go. I couldn't breathe properly. I've never been in a crowd like this before.
Oh God!
"Reyna! Reyna! Reyna! Is your mom... Is your dad...?"
They kept coming, asking questions about my parents.
I covered my ears in fear.
"Arrrgghhh!!!" I screamed and went down on my knees, feeling the heat from the crowd, but they wouldn't leave me.
I kept breathing fast and heavily, feeling anxious and overwhelmed.
NATASHA'S POV
I smirked happily, feeling proud of myself, watching that poor idiot being harassed by everyone.
"Oh my gosh! What's going on?" Hailey approached us.
"Everyone is praising Reyna, saying her parents are super rich," Kylie replied.
"But that looks like harassment. She looks miserable," Hailey complained.
"Well, she's the one who told everyone that her parents are super rich but she looks poor," Kylie said.
"But how is that everyone's business?"
"She's the one who told them. Now she's getting the attention she wants," I answered with a deep smirk.
"I wonder who made everyone give her such crazy attention just because she's a poor-looking rich girl," Hailey sighed.
Me, of course.
I told everyone that Reyna's parents are super rich and that they should be all over her for being among us. That's what she wants, right?
This is just the beginning of my plan. I'm going to make sure you hate this school, Reyna.
I don't care if you have a panic attack.
"Come girls, let's go for practice," I sighed as we catwalked away.
TYLER'S POV
I entered the school hallway, frowning as I saw everyone gathered around someone, yelling.
I didn't feel good about this. I walked closer, gasped as I saw Reyna on the floor, crying loudly and looking dizzy.
"Stop!!!" I shouted as I pushed people out of my way.
They were still shouting,
"Reyna!" "Who are your parents?" "Are you really rich?" "I want to know you!"
I bent down.
"Come on." I held her shoulders and pulled her up.
"Stop it!! You people!!!" I yelled, taking her away from that group.
Reyna shook off my hands and ran away.
"Reyna, wait!!" I wanted to run after her, but I stopped.
If I chased her, she'd panic more and might do something crazy. I know how it feels.
I turned angrily to the people staring at us.
"What are you looking at?! What's your fucking problem?! Look what you've done!" I stormed off angrily.
REYNA'S POV
I headed straight to the classroom, met Shay reading like an innocent Asshole, and slammed the door angrily.
"Whoa!" Shay yelped and stood up in fear.
"Reyna, why...?"
"How could you do this?!" I cried.
Shay scoffed.
"Huh?"
"So you're one of them," I said, feeling betrayed.
"What are you talking about?" Shay asked, acting confused.
"Why did you tell everyone about my parents?" I asked.
"What? I swear, I didn't tell anyone." Shay denied it.
"Are you kidding me? I knew I shouldn't have trusted any so-called friend ever since Kate betrayed me. Now you?" I sobbed.
I shook my head and ran out of the class.
SHAY'S POV
"Reyna, wait!" I tried to follow her, but she was gone.
I can't believe she would accuse me of exposing her secret. I didn't even know it was a secret and I didn't tell anyone.
I don't even care about that.
I sighed and ran to follow her.
REYNA'S POV
I ran to the restroom and hid inside the stall, sat on the toilet, and burst into tears.
I shouldn't have made up that stupid lie. I'd rather endure bullies and shame than this harassment.
I haven't even been here a week, and it's already this horrible.
"Oh God, what am I doing here?"
"Reyna," I heard Sierra's voice.
I sniffed.
"Go away."
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"Does it look like I am? Go away, I wanna be alone."
"Reyna!" I heard the betrayer's voice.
"What do you want? Hurt me again?" I cried.
"I swear, I didn't tell anyone. I promise," Shay said.
SHAY'S POV
I was quiet. She didn't reply.
She came out, with tears on her face, glaring at me.
"Then how did everyone know about my parents?"
I shrugged. "I don't know."
"So you told everyone? Not cool." The curly-haired girl frowned.
"But-"
"I don't want to be your friend anymore, because you're not one," Reyna said simply and ran out before we could do anything.
TYLER'S POV
RIIINNNGGG!
The school bell rang.
"Okay guys, see you at practice." I greeted my teammates as we left history class.
Thank God everyone is in class now no more stupid murmurs or chanting.
I headed to my locker and opened it. I spotted Strawberry sitting on the floor in front of her locker.
She's so beautiful but looks disturbed and sad. I smiled and walked toward her. She saw me, looked shocked, stood up, and ran off.
"Hey! Strawberry!" I called, but she didn't reply.
What's wrong with her? I have to find out.
"Yo bro!" Greg, my friend, shouted.
"Time for practice!"
I wanted to go after her, but I sighed and went with Greg.
I wonder what's wrong with Reyna.
REYNA'S POV
I was walking around, looking for an empty room to stay in for a while before I could think of a way to leave school.
I checked the toilet, occupied.
Locker room someone's there.
The field, basketball court, classrooms, people everywhere.
I finally found a small, pink, cute locker room completely empty.
I entered, sat on the cushion stool, and took a deep breath.
So quiet and peaceful. I needed to stay here for a while.
I must endure everything here before I can graduate. This school is my only hope.
"Hey!" I heard Natasha's voice. She was standing in front of me, arms folded.
Oh no. Bullying again.
I stood up immediately.
"I'm sorry, so sorry, I'll-"
"Wait." She held my hand, looking sad.
"I'm sorry for what happened earlier and how I treated you yesterday. Are you okay?"
I burst into tears as I sat down. "I don't know. I just hate my life right now."
She sighed and sat beside me.
"It's okay. I know how it feels to be overwhelmed by a crowd."
I sniffed and frowned at her.
"You do?"
She nodded.
"When I was a kid, whenever my parents took me to a new school, I'd feel surrounded and scared. So annoying."
"Are your parents really that rich?" she asked.
I didn't want to talk about that again. I felt it was a mistake lying about my parents. I just wanted to fit in but I regretted it. Look what it got me into.
I stood up.
"I have to go." I walked out of the locker room.
"Hey!" I bumped into Kylie. She pushed me.
"Watch where you're going!"
I bent my head sadly.
"I'm sorry."
"Wait, what are you doing in Natasha's locker room?" she asked.
"I... Ow!" I winced as she gripped my wrist tightly.
"You're not supposed to be here."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." I cried.
"You didn't mean to?" she scoffed.
"Now I'll have to teach you a lesson."
"Kylie!" Natasha came out and separated us.
"What are you doing?"
"She's invading your locker room," Kylie complained.
"So? Is that why you're hurting her? She's just looking for a place to cry and you're making it worse. What's your problem?" Natasha yelled.
KYLIE'S POV
I frowned, confused.
"What are you talking about? That useless bitch-"
"She's not useless, okay? Apologize!" Natasha shouted.
Where is this coming from? Why is Natasha defending her?
"Natash-"
"You heard me, or you'll regret it," she threatened.
Is Natasha okay today?
"Sorry," I muttered and walked away angrily.
What's gotten into Natasha? She didn't even slap that girl, she told me to apologize!
REYNA'S POV
I felt totally confused. Why is Natasha being nice all of a sudden?
She even told her own friend to apologize to me?
She didn't yell at me for staying in her locker room, she consoled me.
I didn't feel good about this.
Natasha sighed. "Um, Reyna, sorry for-"
I walked away fast before she could say anything else.
Today is totally weird.
Everyone is acting strange.
I need to avoid everyone, especially Sierra, Shay, and...
"Hi," he smiled, blocking my way in his gym outfit.
Tyler.
Oh God, not him.
If Natasha sees us, she'll tear my hair out.
I bent my head, turning to leave, but he grabbed my wrist and pushed me against the wall, pinning my wrists roughly.
His body was pressing against mine. I could feel his heartbeat and the heat of his body made me weak in the knees. He was so close, I could feel his breath on my forehead.
A kaleidoscope of butterflies filled my stomach.
I closed my eyes, trying to avoid eye contact.
"Leave me alone, you punk," I gritted, struggling
"Open your eyes," he ordered.
"Leave me alo-"
"Open your eyes, damn it!" he yelled.
I opened my eyes slowly, keeping my head down.
"Look at me," he whispered.
I lifted my head, staring into his magical brown eyes like honeyed diamonds.
"What do you want?" I asked softly.
TYLER'S POV
"What's wrong?" I asked gently, as if she were already mine.
She shook her head, avoiding eye contact.
"It's nothing serious, and why do you care?"
"I don't know, but I'm really worried about you. I know it's only the third time we've seen each other, but it feels like forever," I said honestly.
She kept her head down. I hated that.
I grabbed her chin, lifted her face. "Look at me."
RIIINNNGGG!
The bell rang. Everyone came out.
She pushed me away as she saw an opportunity and left.
I clenched my fist and went back to the gym.
AFTER SCHOOL
REYNA'S POV
I'm on the bus, sitting alone, staring out the window, thinking about everything that happened today.
I can't believe Shay told everyone about my fake status.
Now I have to keep pretending I'm rich, when we barely have food to eat.
I avoided Shay, Sierra, Natasha, her friends, and Tyler.
Yeah, I begged a girl to switch seats with me.
Tyler looked angry but I don't care.
He should be with someone like Natasha. They're best friends.
They should be together and leave me alone.
The bus stopped at Santee Street. I got off and started walking.
Good thing the Pizza Club isn't far from the bus stop.
"Now let's see where you really live, Strawberry," I said to myself.
I was in my Porsche, riding slowly, spying on Reyna.
She couldn't see me in my car was far back.
Why is she walking? Why didn't the bus drop her in front of her mansion?
After a few minutes of boring, slow driving, I was tired.
We passed Santee Street.
I couldn't believe she wasn't living there.
What if she's lying about her status?
I frowned as she entered a green, gross-looking restaurant called The Pizza Club.
What's she doing there?
I parked in front of the restaurant and peeked inside.
Where is she? Didn't she come to buy pizza?
My eyes widened.
There she was coming out of a room, wearing a green pizza shirt and cap.
So she works here?
Wait a minute...
I remember now.
She's the pizza girl I nearly hit with my car that day.
I knew she was lying.
She's a fucking poor bitch trying to steal my Tyler from me.
I'll make sure she regrets every decision she's ever made.
Oh this is going to be so fun.
