I didn't go home for the whole night.
Nor did I sleep.
The pain inside me lingered, and my wolf kept howling.
It wasn't until two hours before I returned home that the pain inside me began to subside.
Only then did I understand why it always took so long when Marc punished Lucy and why she was always covered with marks of having sex.
I had originally thought those marks were left by the rogues he hired, but it turned out the marks were all from him.
With bloodshot eyes, I walked back home.
As soon as I reached the door, it swung open.
It was Marc. He was dressed in a crisp suit and looked energetic.
His smile froze the moment he saw me. Then he walked towards me a little nervously. "Honey, why do you look like this? Why didn't you come home last night? Do you know how worried I was?"
His eyes were filled with concern as he touched my face.
He said he had been worried about me, but he didn't make a single call or send me a message.
He was entirely engrossed in making love to Lucy.
It was so disgusting.
I numbly lifted my head to look at him. I couldn't tell if he truly loved me or not. "Do you remember what it was yesterday?"
I caught a flicker of guilt in Marc's eyes, but he quickly smiled and leaned in to kiss my earlobe. "Sorry. The pack meeting had lasted for too long. I've already prepared an anniversary gift for you. Let me go and get it."
With that, Marc went back into the room. He was completely oblivious to my distress.
I desperately covered my throat.
Marc was bearing the aroma of chocolate, and I was allergic to chocolate.
I ate a chocolate cake Mark had made before, and I got an allergic reaction. He frantically gathered all the doctors in the pack to treat me.
Back then, his face was full of guilt as he held my hand and kissed the back of it repeatedly. "Sweetheart, I'll never let you suffer like this again."
Since that day, he had eliminated all traces of chocolate from our home, and he wouldn't allow the scent of chocolate to linger on him for more than ten minutes.
My heart throbbed painfully, and I struggled to breathe. I coughed as I was about to go and see a doctor.
Unexpectedly, Marc got out of the room the next moment with a delicately wrapped gift box in his hand.
He slowly opened it to reveal a sparkling necklace inside.
With an eager expression, he put it around my neck. "This is the gift for you. Happy anniversary!"
As Marc drew near, the overwhelming scent of chocolate hit me.
I couldn't breathe, and my wolf felt howled.
I desperately tried to push him away, but I was too weak.
He didn't notice my resistance until he put the necklace around my neck.
He frowned and was about to ask sternly why I refused him. But he suddenly panicked upon seeing me breathless.
"What's wrong, sweetheart?" As his words fell, he realized that Lucy's scent was chocolate. His face darkened immediately.
He scooped me up and raced to the hospital.
He urgently grabbed the doctor's arm and pleaded earnestly, "Doctor, please save her."
I looked at his worried face. He seemed genuinely to be worried about me.
Yet, I noticed a lipstick mark hidden beneath his shirt collar.
The glaring lipstick mark seemed to mock me for having a lingering affection for him.
I had loved him dearly before. But I found him utterly repulsive at that moment.
My eyes welled up with tears as I ignored the doctor who tried to stop me, sat up, and grabbed Marc with both hands tightly.
I said in a hoarse voice slowly, "I hate you, Marc."
