Of course, he was cheating on her. He did not expect her to find out. But again, how did she find out? He had always been discreet about it.
"You know what, I would rather not have this discussion with you, I would rather not get married to you, I would rather not be tied with you, you can get married to Ivy, I am sure she will be thrilled with it," Mabel declared without mincing her words.
"Goodbye Alex, I pray we never cross parts," she said, and disconnected the call.
She knew what she said was a lie. She was still going to meet with him, especially when he found out, she was going to be with his stepbrother.
And also, she needed to deal with both of them, that is, Alex and Ivy. They had brutally murdered her, making her death seem like a suicide, she was not going to make them have a good life.
Alex looked at his darkened phone and his eyes darkened with a malicious look.
He stormed out of the bridal shop in annoyance, there was nothing he could do there either way.
Once he got to his car, he hit the tires with his leg out of fury.
"Damn that bitch, how did she find out about my affair? Or did Ivy tell her about it?" He asked himself.
He was tempted to believe that Ivy told her about it. She had made several threats, telling him that she would inform Mabel of the truth.
With this thought in mind, he dialed Ivy's number. He needed clarification on it. He did not believe that she did not tell Mabel about it.
The call was picked up within seconds, obviously, Ivy was expecting his call.
"Did you inform Mabel about our affair?" Alex asked immediately, without giving her time to speak.
"Uh?" Ivy was stunned by the accusatory tone in his voice, which left her confused.
"What are you talking about?" Ivy asked as she settled in her seat properly.
"You very well know what I am on about, Mabel just called off the wedding, she is also aware of our affair, how did she get to find out if someone didn't tell her? We are the only ones aware of this, now tell me, did you tell her?" Alex questioned.
"So what if I told her? The marriage was bound to end up in shambles either way, it was only a matter of time she found out," Ivy was nonchalant about the matter.
In fact, she was excited about Mabel calling off the marriage. This meant that she could have Alex to herself without getting jealous.
"Ivy, don't you seem to understand the severity of this matter? We will not be able to get what we want from her if she calls off the wedding, which is obviously too late as she is not ready to listen to any explanation," Alex paced around his car with a disgruntled look on his face.
Ivy became quiet immediately. She finally understood the severity of the issue. But there was nothing she could do. Mabel had already made her stance clear, they could not go against it.
"Now, I want you to tell me the truth, did you tell Mabel about it?" Alex was still stuck with the fact that Ivy was the one who spilled the truth.
"I didn't, I know how much the plan means to you, and even if it hurts that you were going to marry her, I still supported you, it hurts that you think I could have spilled the beans," tears dropped from Ivy's eyes, and even though Alex wasn't there, he could already picture her tear-stained face.
"I am sorry for suspecting you, the issue just got to my head, and I took it out on you," Alex apologized.
"It is fine," Ivy sniffed.
"I will visit you, tomorrow, I will ask Mabel why she decided on such a rash action," Alex stated, and only disconnected the call when he heard her approval.
Meanwhile, after the call with Alex was over, Ace released the mother and daughter. He asked them to shop for anything, and there was no need to pay for it.
In his words, his future wife should not pay for any of her shopping when he owns the mall.
Mabel had raised her eyes to his arrogant statement, but she felt that he looked cool while saying that.
So the mother and daughter spent the afternoon shopping for the best clothes. Mabel had a lot of fun, she seemed to have forgotten what it felt like to shop with her mom, everything felt surreal to her.
After the shopping, they thanked Ace who was more than glad they accepted his offer, before they left for their home.
Once they arrived, Mabel could hear her father's voice. He seemed to be giving instructions to his assistant. She checked her wristwatch, it was not time for her father to return, but he was back.
She turned to her mom with a suspicious look, while Melanie cleared her throat awkwardly.
"You informed dad, isn't that right?" Mabel asked as the servants took the shopping bags in while they walked in.
"I could not hold my excitement," Melanie replied with a small chuckle.
Mabel could only shake her head as her father came into her view.
She heaved a sigh. It had been a long time since she saw her father, but she would not forget his hairline, his taut jaw, and his pursed lips.
"Father," she called out with a stifled cry.
Clark heard his younger daughter's voice, and he turned to look at the entrance. He smiled at her, beckoning for her to come to him.
He did not know why, but looking at his daughter, it felt as though something had changed in her. She was like a new being, and he was happy with such a change.
"I heard you have decided to call off your wedding with Alex, and in return get married to Ace, is this true?" Clark asked with an expectant look in his eyes as soon as Mabel took a seat beside him.
Mabel looked at her father who was staring at her with expectancy in his eyes, and she let out a smile.
"Yes father, probably, I got to know the real him, and it turns out he was actually cheating on me with my secretary," Mabel replied with a sad smile.
As she recalled what she faced before dying, her heart still ached faintly. She truly loved Alex, but he had used her, and discarded her when her worth was used up.
"That scumbag, he dared to cheat on my beloved daughter, he is so going to get it," Clark's voice boomed in rage.
"Relax Father, we should not be rash in our actions," Mabel tried to calm him down.
"Are you going to forgive him for your actions? He deceived you, he deserves to be punished," Clark asked his daughter, hoping that she would not make the mistake of not punishing him when he deserved it.
Mabel paused a bit as she looked into nothingness. She thought about her unborn baby who had been brutally killed, she also thought about the betrayal. These were enough to punish them.
"Father, he deserves to be punished, and I will see to it that he is punished, the first step is getting married to his brother, I know it's wrong of me to use Ace, but I do not have any other options," Mabel replied as her smile faltered slightly.
Clark looked at his daughter with a satisfied smile. He felt that she had grown up, and it was good!
