Chapter 7

Eileen returned to the hospital room, scooped up Lottie, and dashed towards the back exit of the hospital.

But several security guards in black suits blocked her way.

Kole was their leader. He was expressionless.

He said coldly, "Miss Shane, please go back."

Eileen felt her blood freeze instantly.

Instinctively, she shielded Lottie behind her. "What do you want? Get out of my way!"

Lottie was terrified by the scene and clutched Eileen's clothes tightly and cried out loud. "Mommy! I'm scared!"

"Don't be scared, Lottie. I'm here." Eileen shouted with reddened eyes, "You're all accomplices in this evil!"

Kole's eyes flickered briefly, but he then returned to his cold expression. "I'm sorry, Miss Shane. This is Mr. Burton's order."

He tilted his head slightly, and one of the guards immediately lunged forward.

Eileen held Lottie in her arms and couldn't escape.

A damp cloth was forcefully pressed over her mouth and nose.

The sharp smell invaded her lungs and drained her strength in an instant. The world began to spin.

As her consciousness slipped into darkness, all she could hear was Lottie's heart-wrenching cries. "Mommy!"

...

When she awoke again, Eileen was greeted by a large shadowless lamp.

The pungent smell of disinfectant was overwhelming.

She lay on an operating table, and her wrists and ankles were securely fastened by leather restraints. She couldn't move at all.

A syringe was already inserted into her arm. It was connected to a machine emitting a low hum.

The masked doctor did not spare her a glance.

Eileen understood the situation.

She failed to escape, and Greg caught her again.

He was forcing her to give blood.

"Greg, you'll pay for this!"

The doctor seemed deaf to her words and coldly pressed the machine's start button.

The machine began to operate, and her blood flowed through the tubes.

Her temperature gradually became low.

As her consciousness faded, fragments of memories flooded her mind uncontrollably.

On the basketball court, Greg was still a young boy. He parted the crowd and stood before her with sweat-drenched hair glistening. "You're my girlfriend. Why are you so far away from me? Wait for me inside the gym next time."

On the night of his birthday, he cherished the music box as if it were priceless. He kissed her until she was breathless under a sky filled with fireworks. "Eileen, I love you."

But now she knew it was a lie.

He was nice to her only to use her to provoke Rena.

His sweet words were just to make Eileen more compliant.

Now he wanted her blood and her life to save himself, so he would be with Rena forever.

"Hahh! What a joke! Eileen, your whole life is a joke!" She to herself.

"Lottie... my daughter..."

Tears ran out of the corners of her eyes silently and soaked her temples.

She wasn't afraid to die.

But if she died, how would Lottie survive in the world? She was just five years old.

Eileen's heart began to beat irregularly, and the curves on the monitor fluctuated wildly, which gave a piercing alarm.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

The doctor finally looked up and glanced at the instrument while frowning slightly.

But he didn't stop. He merely adjusted the blood-drawing machine to a slower setting.

They wouldn't stop until they had obtained enough blood.

The light from the shadowless lamp splintered into shattered spots.

The alarm sound gradually faded into a heavy hum.

"Greg, if I die...

I'll never let you and Rena go!"

The curve on the heart monitor suddenly became a straight line after frantically fluctuating.

Beep- With a long beep, Eileen lost her consciousness.
