He ridiculed me, the atrocity locked away in his thick layer of assertiveness, submerging me in guilt.
"You are planning to break me, Aren't you?"
I shivered when he smirked, "Who knows?"
Responding ambiguously to my words, getting up without exchanging further words, laying on his side, covering his face with his hand.
I glared at him, urging to curse at him for leaving me at this point where I went away from my destination. It's all his fault.
'How do you do this to me, Nathaniel?'
Emitting a long sigh, I laid on my side as well and went to sleep knowing the next day is the mark of my true commencement.
The next day, we had our flights in the morning. I was sleeping peacefully but Nathaniel didn't mention it was 'early' in the morning.
"Wake up, Zariah."
He shook my shoulder, I groaned, yanking his hand back, covering myself with the blanket.
"Wake up, we have our flight." He sighed, poking my shoulder.
"I am not hungry."
"What are you high on?" He asked sternly but since I was sleepy, I didn't pay heed and drifted back to sleep.
"I am going to take a shower if you are not up by then I will drag out of this bed." He commanded.
"What is your problem-"
Causing me to open one eye and glance at him and realize it was not a dream and he was before me.
Gasping, I immediately got up only to greet his stoic expression.
"I.. I..." I blushed, not knowing what to say.
"Freshen up, we are leaving." He sighed. I nodded hastily, forcing my lump down as we freshened up.
"Morning." I yawned, coming down.
"Where is your husband?" Father asked sourly.
"Here."
I pointed upward where he was talking to someone on the phone but his eyes were fixed upon me as if I am not with my father but rather the guy I told him not to worry about.
He sent a glare which quivered up my body to regain my senses as I gave Alessandra a side hug.
"I will miss you." She said sadly.
"Me too. Take care of everything." I smiled.
"I will, don't worry. You take care of yourself and not lose track." She reminded, still grinning.
Giving her a nervous smile, I nodded and turned to Father.
"Take care."
"You too." I said timidly and hugged Mum tightly.
"Bless you, dear." She smiled, kissing my forehead.
"I am happy for you." Alessandra whispered, smiling sweetly.
"Thanks." I whispered back, pulling away from her, standing beside Nathaniel.
"Let's go." He said, taking my hand and before I could even wave my hand at them to bid goodbye, he took me away.
"Showering too much love on someone who doesn't care, aren't you?" He mocked me while driving the car.
"What are you saying? They are my family." I replied, not believing he is talking like this.
"Hmph, right." He rolled his eyes off.
"Why do you detest them so much?" I asked, distressed at his constant taunts over my loved ones.
"Because you are their tool." Making a fist, I growled, looking away because he doesn't know.
"They will use you and throw you away one day. You have worth in their- especially his eyes. You will understand it soon." He sighed but I was unable to understand the depth of his words.
"Wouldn't you too?" I asked faintly.
Looking at him with a deeply woeful expression, a flicker of stagger went in his eyes as he stopped the car. Jerking me up, glancing at me flabbergasted.
"What? Am I wrong?"
I asked but the emotion in his eyes told the contrary, attenuating his body with an exhalation.
"No." He replied, starting the drive.
"Why do you seem so baffled then?" I asked, raising a brow and his absolute affectation was formed once again.
"I was amazed you even asked." He teased, smirking once again.
"You are my doll of pleasures after all. My Doll. "
He mocked as we reached the airport where his jet was ready as we left for NYC.
The way was silent. He was busy at work and so was I.
I was thinking of working on his idea of expanding our business so I don't have to stay at home and lose my mind.
I discussed the idea through text with Father, he agreed to it so I am going to settle down and then start work.
"De Villiers, tell Amanda to come by tomorrow's flight." Nathaniel ordered De Villiers, his trusted man and his best friend.
"You got me, Boss." He smiled.
De Villiers always was nice to everyone unlike his Boss, rolling me off from them, I continued my work.
We finally reached New York City. I was exhausted from the flight, getting out. I stretched my hands to ease up but someone grabbed my arm, halting my breath.
I fell on Nathaniel's chest while he was smirking at me with a harsh grip on my arm.
"Nathaniel...?"
I called his name apprehensively, pressing my palm over his chest with the profound eyes scanning me.
"Finally..." He whispered temptingly, holding my waist firmly.
Tugging a strand of my hair, the danger dripping from his eyes gave me a bad presage and he made it reality with the murmur in my ears.
"You are imprisoned in my arena now."
