Chapter 2 UNCONSCIOUS

Amara rushed upstairs, already imagining the night ahead.

"Mom, what should I wear?" Amara called out, as she carried three designer gowns to her mom's room.

"Surprise me, dear!" Rachel replied from inside her room.

Amara giggled, as she picked one of the gowns, it was one her dad had bought for as a gift for college.

Downstairs, James had asked Nancy to help the twins Emily and Sophia pick out dresses and also prepare them for the outing.

"Remember your manners at the restaurant girls, this is a very fancy restaurant, so make aunty Nancy proud by acting like i taught you," Nancy reminded them.

The two girls nodded, as they both sat down and let Nancy make their hair for them.

After a few minutes, Nancy was done and she let the girl's go check themselves out in the large bedroom mirror.

Emily and Sophia screamed with joy, the both of them dancing around in their dresses as they looked at themselves in the mirror.

Rachel came out from her room to check on the twins and Nancy, she was dressed in a long beautiful red dress.

As she walked down the hallway to the twins room, she ran into James, who had worn a black tuxedo.

"Honey, you look so handsome," Rachel said, smiling, she reached out, gently cleaning his hair and adjusting his tie.

James smiled, his face slightly pink.

"Thank you, love, you also look breathtaking, my love." He said as he looked at her, his eyes filled with love.

"You grow more beautiful everyday." He added.

Amara came out of her room, joining them, she was wearing the black dress she had picked out earlier.

"Wow, look at my baby, you look so beautiful, just like your mother!" James said as he looked over at her.

Amara blushed and rolled her eyes.

Just then, the door opened and Ali, the family's driver walked in.

"Sir, the car is ready." He said.

James smiled nodding as he looked towards the twins room.

"Is everyone ready?" He asked.

The twins both ran out at the same time.

"Yes daddy!" They said.

The whole family gathered in the hall way, Rachel adjusting their clothes as they were all ready to go out.

"It's cold outside, Nancy get them their sweaters or fur coats, so they can take it along." Rachel said.

"Yes madam." Nancy replied.

James turned to Ali.

"You don't need to drive us today." He said smiling.

"I will do the driving, you can go on and rest." He said.

Ali nodded, and excused the family.

James turned to the family, looking at them one more time before opening the door, all of them raced to the car, rolls Royce phantom.

They drove to the restaurant, each of them taking turns to play their favorite songs as James drove.

They finally reached the restaurant, a large ancient styled building.

James slowly parked the car in the parking lot.

He turned around to face the family.

"We are here." He announced.

"Is everyone alright?" He asked.

They all nodded smiling, as they looked through the car's windows at the restaurant.

"What kind of food do they serve daddy?" Emily asked.

"Hum.. I heard it's a mixture of German and Italian culture, I think," James replied.

Sophia clapped.

"That's my favorite!

Emily rolled her eyes.

"I thought you said your favorite was Spanish?" She asked sarcastically.

Sophia rolled her eyes back.

"I'm a girl that appreciates food, not like you." She said,

"That's enough girls, let's go." Rachel said.

They all slowly got out of the car, walking towards the restaurant.

The restaurant was beautiful and it impressed them.

A beautiful sign overhead read "Kasermandl Weihnachtsmarkt."

They all entered into the restaurant in a single line, the girls at the front, while James and Rachel walked behind them.

Inside, the restaurant was breathtaking, everything was made with wood, in an ancient style and the waiters were also dressed like ancient Germans, at the back of the restaurant, a man played ancient German tunes from his huge piano.

As they walked in, a hostess, walked towards them, she was beautiful and her long hair made Amara's mouth slightly open.

"Welcome to Kasermandl Weihnachtsmarkt! Right this way, please." The hostess said, as she pointed to a table, set for five at the vip section of the restaurant.

They slowly followed her to their table, Amara whispered to her father:

"Dad, this place looks amazing and the waitress, look at her hair.. if only mom lets me keep me hair like hers." She said.

James smiled.

"I told you this place would be special." He said smiling, while ignoring the comments about the waitress hair, he didn't like interfering with his wife's rules about their daughters.

Once they got to their seat, they all settled in their seats, Amara was happy to look through their the menu and enjoy the family's night out.

As they all sat, watching a few guests dancing, while the pianist played some Mozart and some Bach, just then another waiter, a charming Italian looking man, walked towards them, presenting them with their menus.

James gladly collected the menu and shared it among the family, each person had to pick whatever they wanted.

"I think I will get a currywurst." James said to the waiter.

"I will get a schnitzel... and orange juice." Amara said.

She turned to her younger sisters.

"What about you guys?" She asked.

"Schnitzels too." They both said at the same time.

Amara and Rachel laughed.

"I think I will get a bratwurst." Rachel said.

The waiter nodded and walked back towards the counter while scribbling on a note pad.

Amara turned back to face her parents, they were already kissing and hugging each other.

Emily and Sophia were blushing and laughing as they watched their parents.

"Mom, Dad, stop! People are looking." Emily said laughing.

Amara rolled her eyes in frustration, they hadn't changed ever since she was born.

"Get a room, guys." She said.

James and Rachel smiled as they continued holding hands and kissing each other.

"None of you understand what it means to be in love." Her father said smiling.

Her mom smiled and kissed him again, before turning back to Amara.

"Your father was missing you throughout the period you were in school." She said laughing.

"Speaking of which, Amara, are you seeing anyone special?" Her father asked smiling

Amara's cheeks immediately became bright pink.

"Why would you ask that?" she replied, avoiding eye contact.

Her mother smiled.

"We just want to know if someone in your school has captured your heart," her mother said.

"Or if someone's making you blush." Her father added, teasing her.

Amara's face grew hotter.

"Stop, Dad. There's no one."

Emily and Sophia both looked at each other giggling.

"Amara has a secret lover!" Sophia whispered to Emily.

Both girls giggled at once.

"Shh!" Amara hissed.

James and Rachel both smiled.

"We just want you happy, Amara," her father said.

Her mother nodded.

"You deserve someone wonderful." She said,

Amara looked away shyly.

"Thanks, guys. But really, there's no one."

She said,

Just then, their meals arrived, and they all began to eat.

"This is actually amazing!" Her father said, smiling.

Her mother nodded, smiling.

"I'm actually impressed, considering the fact that you are bad at picking restaurants." She said smiling.

Just then, her father's phone rang, disturbing their conversation.

"Excuse me," James said, as he answered the call.

It was his assistant, grey on the line.

"Sir, there's trouble," grey said, his voice trembling, it sounded like he had been crying.

James's smile slowly faded.

"Trouble? What's wrong?" He asked.

"Sir, there was... there was a fire at the company earlier this evening sir. The whole building...it's all gone. Everything is burnt down to the ground." Grey said.

James's face became pale immediately.

He staggered, stumbling backward.

"James!" Rachel screamed her eyes wide with fear as he crumpled to the floor, unconscious.

They all screamed in horror.
