Flashback Continue

Aurora held the urge to roll her eyes in annoyance after finding the concerned look in his eyes, he had been hot on her heels from the past month they were together. She had regretted listening to her friends many times already, she sometimes wished she didn't have the patience as the size of a bee so she wouldn't had taken this step in anger.

"What are you doing here?" Surpassing the need to tell him to get lost, she wore a blank face before trying to divert her mind, the young man danced his fingers in his messy hair before shooting a small smile in her way, even though it hurt the side of his lips.

Aurora's eyes subconsciously ran towards the small bruises plastered over his face, his forehead had a small purplish scar and a sharp painful cut over his lips, but it didn't surprise her. Ace had been getting trained from the time he was adopted by her father, he never regarded this young boy as his son, he was more of a liability and tool to enhance his underground business.

Aurora wasn't exactly familiar with what goes in the dark world, whenever she tried to question about that business of her father she was shut off by both Ace and Alvin with a simple statement that it would be better if she stayed away from such information. Ace had always shared everything that goes down in his life except for the business her father had thrown him in. She had gotten used to seeing his face always painted with several bruises and even though she didn't want to but everytime she felt an unwanted pang of worry for him.

"I thought you had a fight today?" Ace raised his hand leisurely tugging her opened hair behind her ear before answering her.

"Yes, I had but it ended earlier so I decided to not skip my last lecture." He explained pausing his calloused fingers against her soft cheek, Ace's hands were never soft, from the time she accepted his proposal whenever he touched her, she could only feel the hardness and roughness his flesh embraced but weirdly his touch always felt warm and caring.

"You tell me, what are you worried about?" As always he read her like an open book, she could never hide anything from him, one look of her eyes and he knew what she was feeling right now except for one emotion. He was never able to understand her annoyance or maybe he didn't want to understand it.

"Nothing much, just had an argument with my friends." Just like that Ace withdrew his hand staring down at her with a thoughtful scowl and she knew why?

Ace never liked her friends, he always regarded them as pretentious and fake. She thought that he might like Bree after meeting her as she was the only sweetest person who actually knew how to impress someone at the first meet but when Ace sat with them one day, he clearly expressed his annoyance at the woman's sickening sweet voice and overly nice behaviour.

He told her in clear words, how pretentious and a bitch Jade was, he even scowled deeply while describing Bree as a fake woman, he could sworn the way she kept on regarding herself as fragile woman who needed an immense protection from the evil around her. While max was another story, the dislike Ace felt for that guy was unexplainable. He simply told her to keep a distance from the guy, he seemed treacherous and untrusty.

The poor guy simply expressed what he felt after all his gut feeling never seemed ro fail him before but Aurora went all rampage on him, she hated being controlled and ordered around. She despised the way he insulted her friends, Jade and Max might only had 4 and 1 years old friendship with her but Bree and her were together for last 10 years. He had no right to rule her life just because he was her so called boyfriend and their relationship just started a month ago.

"If I say something again, it will only upset you so forget it." He mumbled shaking his head, he never liked her friends and refused to get involve with them after meeting them once, their overly nice behaviour made him nauseous, their acting was vomit worthy.

"Wait, I bought something for you," She raised her eyebrows in confusion and her ocean eyes widened in glee when he pulled something out of his bag.

It was a pack of dates, she smiled widely grabbing it right away making the man chuckle in amusement, "You remember it!" He smiled watching her shoving one in her mouth like a wild kitten.

Aurora had expressed her craving for dates in the morning, she had a weird obsession with them and he never got to know why, he simply fulfilled the wish she had, even though he knew she must have many other wants but right now he could only complete the one that was within his budget. Ace was paid a monthly allowance by Alvin based on his performance in the ring.

If he played badly then he wouldn't get anything rather he had to suffer from a terrible toe curling punishment, but if he was lucky enough to win then Alvin always rewarded him on the basis of his performance criteria. Ace was still thankful as the old man already paid for his education and Ace knew with his striving grades he would be able to grab scholarship in college.

"Il tuo desiderio è il mio comando, mio amore." He whispered in his thick Italian voice, and Aurora was able to understand only one thing from what he said 'My love', she didn't realize how her cheeks burned with reddish hue after hearing his words. (Your wish is my command, my love)

Ace and her father occasionally communicated in Italian, but Aurora never understood it, Ace was sent to Italy for 5 years to get train there, and surprisingly his accent changed when he returned three years ago. Alvin told her that in order to deal with underworld business it was important to know Italian that's why Ace was forced to be awake at several nights to work harder to learn four languages, while his dear daughter slept carelessly in those torturous nights.

"What?" She questioned gazing in his smiling eyes in confusion only to make the man lovingly fondle her head.

"Nothing, just enjoy it. I have to head to classroom, I will pick you up at 2 pm." Aurora wanted to protest as she had some plans with Max but knowing Ace she knew he will bombard her with questions plus she was angry with Max for not shutting jade up so she nodded her head.

"Take care." And as always he leaned forward placing a soft tender kiss over her forehead, it had became his habit and she had gotten used to getting these goodbye forehead kisses from him, she was fine with it until it wasn't her lips.

Just like that another two weeks swept away with Ace showering her with care and love, Aurora would lie if she said no matter how annoyingly clinging and pushy he was she didn't enjoy his company. She did, and the mere thought irritated her. His care, love and affection everything about him scared her, she was scared of the tingling emotion of extremely tiny guilt she felt whenever she thought of breaking his heart.

Her birthday was getting close and Max seemed excited to announce their relationship but now she wasn't sure if it was only about their secret relationship or the fact that, the same day she will had to break Ace's heart by confessing the truth of him being nothing but a mere bet that she made just to show that she wasn't weak enough to fall for a low life like him.

"What happened?" Aurora stared at him in disbelief shaking her head, he was bluffing right?

"You want me to play a video of us making out in my birthday party," She mumbled still being shocked making the arrogant lad roll his eyes.

"What's wrong with it? We are in a relationship, I just want that fucker to see that you're mine, not his." Aurora frowned when she noticed a weird glint in Max's eyes, he looked evil, like a devil. The look she never witnessed in him before.

"I will break up with him, and that will be enough! I am not going to play in your childish game Max! The bet alone will hurt him a lot." She whispered the last sentence with gloomy gaze without realizing which irked the man standing in front of her, she flinched when he roughly grabbed her hand squeezing it in his huge hand earning a small hiss of pain from her.

"What is it? What is it that I am seeing? You seem sad for that dirty little shit!" She tried to pull her hand away from his grip whimpering in pain, her wide shocked eyes stared at him in disbelief, no one ever treated her this way.

"Let go of my hand, Max!" The man increased the pressure before jerking her closer making the edge of her shoe touch his as he leaned his face closer to hers glaring at her like a vicious beast.

"Tell me, Aurora are you in fucking love with him?!!" She jumped closing her eyes trying to punch his shoulder to free her hand when he asked her that question.

"Are you crazy! Let me go!" She whispered yelled digging her nails in his flesh but he didn't even flicker his eyes at her words. Before he could continue with his assault he flew to the ground almost dragging her with him if she was snatched away him.

Aurora snapped open her eyes finding an enraged Ace pulling her behind him as he threw his bag on the groud and made his way towards the groaning man whose nose started bleeding after only receiving one punch. She knew Ace was a professional fighter, Max wouldn't stand a chance in front of him.

God! This was going to be bad! Bad for Max.
