Chapter 5 005

TWO YEARS AFTER

Aurora walked out of the training ground for the teenage wolves of the pack for whom she was one of their tutors.

Sweat was dripping down her body and she reached for a hand towel to wipe it off.

Unlike the first time when she was just picked up after being abandoned by the assassins who thought she was dead, she had a bit of muscle at the moment. Not enough to make her bulky, but a bit of flesh.

Her curves remained the same but her eyes had the sharpness of a warrior's.

Her skin was smooth, and her long wavy black hair that reached her waist had been cut to back length, and held together by a piece of cloth.

Aurora wasn't just physically stronger, her health condition had disappeared.

With Amaya's help and her brother, Felix's willingness to part with lots of money in search of rare herbs, she was finally healed.

Her heart was okay, and she had risen through the ranks in her brother's troop, earning her place in the Crestwood pack.

Amaya did what the numerous medical veterans whom Rowan invited couldn't do, healing Aurora in a short time.

And she was far from being an omega. She had an alpha bloodline but her heart condition and the presence of a suppression poison dragged her down, hiding her potential beneath the veil of frailty.

Right now, she was someone everyone looked up to and admired, not the sick little doll that always needed Alpha King Rowan to wrap her up.

Someone suddenly pulled her in a corner and she rolled her eyes.

"Even with the sweat from training the warriors, you still look stunning," Remi whispered, leaning closer to her.

"You have developed a bad habit of dragging me into places."

"I can't help myself. Whose fault is it that my heart is misbehaving?" He whispered, caressing her face.

Aurora pushed him away and smirked.

"Keep it under control, we don't want you to develop a heart condition now, do we?" she asked, grinning at him. Remi kept quiet and leaned against the wall, making his muscles perfectly outline against the light material of his shirt.

"Alpha Felix wants you to dress up and go to the ballroom. Today is the annual alpha summit, and Crestwood Pack is this year's host. Everyone is curious to meet the alpha's sister who had made a name on the battlefield for herself in just two years."

"Oh, please. I'm not interested in meeting anyone."

"Too bad you were named the hostess. But you don't need to worry, Jasmine and the rest of the maids got everything covered.

They have been hosting mega balls for years. The food, wine, entertainment, seating arrangements, and decor have all been taken care of. You only need to dress up in the dress customized for you, and look pretty like the beautiful girl you are."

"Don't call me a pretty girl again." Aurora retorted, feeling offended by the name.

"Yes, captain," Remi replied and winked at her, quickly making a fast escape before she could combust.

Maddy shifted the curtain of the carriage aside to look at Rowan who was riding a horse alongside the warriors. His face was etched in a perpetual frown, no one had seen him smile in a very long while.

"Rowan, get into the carriage, please?"

"There would be no need for that. We're almost at Crestwood. Just relax in there." He said dismissively, looking away.

"There have been rumors that we are not on good terms. If we don't arrive together, there will be more rumors and I will become the subject of malicious gossip. Rowan, I have been the best Luna during..."

"Fine, fine." Rowan snapped, cutting her off.

"I also do my best for you. I normally don't attend these kinds of meaningless events, but you dragged me here and forced me to honor the invitation in the name of wanting to socialize with other alpha's wives and get to know alphas under the Silver Fang territories.

Maddy, I hate long talks and I most definitely don't tolerate nagging. Come and join me on the horse."

A wide smile spread on Maddy's face the moment she heard Rowan's invitation. That was all that mattered.

The carriage stopped and a guard carried her down. Rowan picked her up, forcing himself not to sigh as he adjusted her before him.

Barely two minutes after she got on, she began to wriggle her ass, stylishly trying to feel his manhood in a pathetic attempt to seduce him.

Rowan rolled his eyes and kicked the horse into a run, ignoring her feeble attempt. And once again, he couldn't help but think about the woman he lost because he needed to protect the people.

If she was the one on horseback with him, his manhood would stand of its own accord, he would be the one making the moves and taking her any chance he got.

But sex with Maddy always felt like an obligation, and his legendary high libido which made lots of staff walk in on him bending Aurora at odd corners had since disappeared. Maddy was truly beautiful and efficient in Luna's role, a perfect Luna for the people.

But whenever he compared the two, Maddy always fell short, and he couldn't help but mourn his late mate again.

******

Rowan sighed for the umpteenth time since he got to the party. After Maddy's initial show of affection before the receptive audience, she quickly went off to socialize, leaving him with his gamma.

Soon, Alphas began to swarm him, surprised that he showed up to such an event. Each person wanted to forge a connection, including audacious daughters of alphas who kept coming to try their luck despite knowing he had a Luna.

According to one of the girls, there was nothing wrong with it since he wasn't Maddy's fated mate. He quickly scared them off with his aura and found a quiet place to continue with his brooding.

"Alpha king, I heard that Alpha Felix's sister whom he found two years ago would be appearing today.

After her victory with the rogue and expelling them from the land they claimed, lots of people learned about her. She is said to be very beautiful, with the radiance of the moon." An alpha said in excitement.

"Spare me the details," Rowan said coldly, shutting everyone up.

"She's here." Someone said, and Rowan instinctively turned towards the huge curvy staircase where the center of attraction was located, looking uninterested.

He froze the moment he saw her face and the crystal goblet in his hands slipped, shattering on the marble floor.

"Aurora." He muttered, his body shaking with the force of the numerous emotions coursing through him.
