Daisy's POV.
"Get out!" I screamed turning back to take my towel in embarrassment. I heard a knock on the door just as I tied my towel round my body properly.
"Can I come in now?" His soft voice came in, I cracked a bit. Remembering what just happened.
"No! Stay out, I'll come out once I'm done."
I curled my lips in as I covered my face, how am I supposed to face him now?
I put on my blue flay gown wearing my black sandals on it before taking my bag. I took the last sandwich on the table putting it in my mouth as I took my Stanley cup going outside.
I saw my box already with him and rolled my eyes locking the door. "Um! Let's go." I cleared my throat trying to ease the awkward moment.
I noticed Lily's door was locked and a little bit dusty making it seem like no one was living there, weird!
I didn't have time to check it out last night because everywhere was so dark. "Are you okay?" I heard Brian's voice snapping out of my own thoughts.
"Yes sure." My lips spread into an always smile as I ran away in embarrassment before he could say anything else.
I heard him laugh behind me and frowned, "Is anything funny here?" I turned back to face him but ended up crashing into him, my head bumping against his chest with my hands on his six-packs.
I stepped away as he helped me in opening the car door.
"Go in," He gestured, placing his hand gently on my back.
My body stiffened and my breath seized.
"I could have opened the door by myself, please don't bother next time," I said, quickly entering into the car.
I hoped that there wouldn't be a next time. This was the last time I wanted us in the same space.
He went to keep my box, then entered into the car.
"Your seatbelt," He reminded.
Fuck! Why did I let him remind me about something so trivial?
"Should I help you with it?" He questioned, reaching the seatbelt.
My eyes widened and I grabbed the seatbelt before he could touch it. What in the world was wrong with him?
Why was he suddenly acting so helpful?
"I can wear my own seatbelt, thank you!" I snapped, making sure my voice was stern as possible.
"Alright," He relented and wore his own seatbelt.
He hadn't even worn his, and he was playing 'the most insightful one'. How pathetic!
We arrived at the house an hour later and the house only brought back empty and sad memories to me.
I kept remembering how horrible I was treated. I kept remembering the pain that I felt when I got mocked for losing my child.
"Daisy, can you please have your seat?" Brian asked, his voice unusually soft.
"Why?"
"I want us to talk-" his words were cut short by the sudden opening of the door.
"Brian," Selena walked in.
The instant rage I felt when I saw her was beyond measure. Although she was just a contracted girlfriend for Brian, she made sure to ruin the little happiness that I wanted.
"What is she doing back here?" Serena asked, eyeing me.
"Selena, let's talk outside," Brian replied and walked over to her.
He grabbed her hand and took her out of the house before she could protest.
"He is being secretive again," I frowned.
I quickly sauntered to the door and leaned my ear towards it. I didn't want to remain in the dark anymore, I had to know what they were saying.
I tried to listen carefully to their words, but I couldn't hear anything. It looked like he had taken her far off.
Dammit! Why was he always one step ahead?
I stood there for minutes and still couldn't make sense of what they were saying.
The doorknob suddenly twisted and I quickly ran towards the couch. I almost tripped.
"Daisy, are you okay?" He ran to me. He was about to touch me, but I moved away from him.
"I am fine."
He looked at me in doubt, but didn't argue, "I want to tell you that you have nothing to worry about when it comes to Selena."
I didn't understand what he meant.
"I'm perplexed, what would I be worried about? This marriage is just a..." I paused.
I wanted to call it a sham, but I came here to find out the truth. Picking fights with Brian wouldn't help me at all.
"Selena is no longer my contracted girlfriend and she won't be coming back here ever again," He divulged, making my mouth open in surprise.
"What? Why isn't she coming...I mean why are you suddenly ending the deal with her? I don't understand," I shook my head.
"Your father ended the contract and I have no need to be connected with her anymore," He replied, still hiding some things.
I wanted to ask him more questions, but there was no need to be pushy.
"Alright," I sighed. "I will head to my room now."
I didn't wait for him to reply. I didn't even know why I expected a reply.
I got to my room and more memories came rushing in. However, the dresses, shoes and other items at the corner of the room and my bed, distracted me.
"What are all these?" I asked myself, walking over to the bed.
I grabbed a jewelry box from the bed and opened it to see a Cartier necklace.
"I have seen this thing somewhere," I muttered.
I tried remembering where I saw it, and I suddenly remembered that I saw Selena online saying that Brian gifted this to her.
"Why in God's name is this in my room?" I hissed in anger.
I dropped it on the bed, and dropped the other items I had in my hands. I left my room and went straight to the sitting room.
"Brian, can I ask why those things are in my room?" I demanded.
Brian stood from the couch and started walking to me.
"Why are you coming closer?" I swallowed hard.
I could feel my body starting to shake.
"Brian..." I kept moving back.
"Why do you keep running away from me?" He asked and reached for my face.
I wanted to move away, but mistakenly tripped back to the couch.
"Oh!" I gasped.
"Daisy," He suddenly leaned in.
"Brian, I am not here for this nonsense. Just answer my question!"
"I purchased them in your name, they never belonged to Serena. They have always belonged to you," He whispered, taking his fingers to my lip.
Why would he purchase things in my name? What was the meaning of all this?
"They belong to you." He repeated.
I pushed his hand away and glared, "Is that supposed to make my heart skip a beat?"
"It just did," He smirked, and my heart suddenly skipped a beat.
