Chapter 2 Love at first sight

"Oh my gosh! Who is this cute guy? Is this an angel in human form ?" She smiles slowly as he walk pass her.

"That's Sebastian Delton, the young billionaire." Valerie cut her thoughts short.

" what! Billionaire?" She asked curiously "yes multi billionaire. His every girls, here on campus dream man but he keeps to himself, and only speaks with his only friend Josh."

A bell rings and all the students rush to finance class to attend lectures. Finance is a general course in the school.

Professor Thompson, a finance teacher, a well renowned risk management expert, walked into his classroom, greeted by a sea of expectant students. Today, he planned to challenge them with a complex case study.

"Alright, class," he began, "let's say you're the risk manager for a multinational corporation. A major supplier has filed for bankruptcy, threatening to disrupt your production line. What do you do?"

The room fell silent, with students scribbling notes furiously. After a few minutes, Professor Thompson asked for answers.

Sebastian take off his sunshade, and raised his hand. "Professor, I'd assess the potential impact on our production line and identify alternative suppliers to mitigate the risk. I'd also review our contracts to see if we have any clauses that could help us recover losses."

Professor Thompson nodded, impressed. "Excellent answer, Sebastian. You've demonstrated a solid understanding of risk management principles. Can you elaborate on your thought process?"

Sebastian took a deep breath and began to elaborate on his thought process:

"When faced with the risk of a major supplier filing for bankruptcy, my first step would be to conduct a thorough risk assessment. This involves identifying the potential impact on our production line, including the likelihood of disruption, potential financial losses, and repetition damage.

"Next, I'd focus on developing mitigation strategies to reduce the risk. In this case, I'd identify alternative suppliers who can provide the necessary materials or components. I'd also assess the feasibility of finding new suppliers, considering factors like lead time, cost, and quality.

"In addition, I'd review our contracts with the supplier to see if we have any clauses that could help us recover losses or mitigate the risk. For example, we might have a clause that allows us to terminate the contract in the event of supplier insolvency or bankruptcy. Understanding our contractual obligations and potential clauses can help us navigate the situation more effectively.

"Overall, my approach would be to proactively assess the risk, develop mitigation strategies, and leverage contractual clauses to minimize the impact on our production line and business operations."

"This guy is a genius! I love this guy" Monalisa said as her eyes rolls all over Sebastian who is sitting at the front, three seats far from hers.

Valerie who couldn't conduct any of Monalisa naive attitude, hit her on the shoulder. "Ouch!" Monalisa screamed.

"Shuuuw! Shut it. What's wrong with you" Valarie whispered in her lowest tone, pulse for a seconds and continued,

"Sebastian is a very brilliant guy. His in first class. The best brilliant student in Diamond College, also best in his team under the extracurricular activities. Arrogant but very intelligent."

"Valarie I think I love him already" She smiled. " who? Sebastian Delton? Girl, you must be joking. That's every girls crush but he don't give a fuck of any of the girls."

" But why?" Monalisa still can't get her eyes off him. "Because his wealthy and arrogant. Isn't it obvious?"

Professor Thompson nodded thoughtfully, impressed by Sebastian's thorough explanation. "Excellent approach, Sebastian," he said.

"You've demonstrated a solid understanding of risk management principles and critical thinking. Your emphasis on risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and contract review is spot on."

He turned to the class and asked, "What do you think about Sebastian's approach? Can anyone add to his points or suggest alternative strategies?"

Perhaps we could offer to provide financial support or other forms of assistance to help the supplier recover from their financial difficulties."

The class discussion continued, with students exploring different scenarios and potential solutions. Professor Thompson guided the discussion, providing feedback and insights to help students deepen their understanding of risk management.

As the class discussion came to a close, Professor Thompson smiled, satisfied with the insightful contributions of his students. "Today, we've explored the importance of risk management in a complex business scenario,"

he said, summarizing the key points. "Sebastian's approach demonstrated a solid understanding of risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and contract review."

The students nodded, taking note of the professor's words. Professor Thompson continued, "Risk management is not just about identifying risks, but also about developing strategies to mitigate them. As the professor finished speaking, he assigned a follow-up project. "For your next assignment, I'd like you to develop a risk management plan for a hypothetical company facing a similar scenario," he said. "Please apply the principles we've discussed today and submit your plans next week."

The students began to pack up their belongings, chatting with one another about the case study and their risk management strategies. Sebastian felt proud of his contribution to the discussion and looked forward to working on the assignment.

"I'm excited to apply what I've learned to a real-world scenario," Sebastian said to his classmate and only close friend, Josh. I think this assignment will help me understand risk management better."

Josh nodded in agreement. "Definitely. I'm looking forward to seeing how others approach the assignment and learning from their perspectives."

As the students filed out of the classroom, Professor Thompson watched with a sense of satisfaction. He knew that his students had gained a deeper understanding of risk management principles and were better equipped to apply them in complex business scenarios.

Sebastian and Josh was walking towards "Vegas" the best eatery in the campus. Many students at the school cafeteria, It's remaining 30 minutes for the next lecture to proceed.

"Babe please wait." A girl was running towards Josh and Sebastian. "What does this girl want from me" Josh said frowning his face.

" guy I think is your girl, and she's coming here. Well, I will be inside. You can meet me there when are done" Sebastian said as he walk inside Vegas.

"Babe, do you know how long I have been shouting your name" She can hardly speak, her chest skips heavily "Babe, you have been avoiding me. Why?"

"Look, Sara I made it clear to you last semester that is over between us" He move closer to her left side ear "Is O-V-E-R!!!, don't you get it" Josh deviate himself from Sara who wanted to touch him. He walk inside Vegas.

Sara stood there watching him walk out from her

"Ggggrrr!! No o o!" she screamed in anger and tears full her eyeballs. "I am Sara Benson, men don't dump me, I dumped them." She wipes her tears "Josh! until I say so, Is not over yet" she screamed and walk away.

Monalisa and Valerie sat on a well furniture wooden long chair under a tree planted for shelter.

"Sllllurp, this smoothie is delicious!" Monalisa exclaimed as she take a sip. "Mmmm! That's true Monalisa" Valerie took a sip too.

"Monalisa I have extracurricular classes to attend now. We are working on a concert and I think is time for your Financial law classes" she stood up.

"Yeah, that's true. See you later" she said happily and run off. Valerie voice echoed in the air "Be safe okay!!" "Sure!" Monalisa voice fades in the air as she continue running.

"Good morning, class," Mrs. Felicia said, her voice firm but engaging.

The students settled in, notebooks and pens at the ready. Monalisa sat in the front row, eager to learn. Sebastian sat in the front but at left, his eyes fixed on the lecturer.

Mrs. Felicia posed a question. "Can someone explain the concept of vicarious liability in contract law?"

Monalisa raised her hand, and Mrs. Felicia smiled. "What's your name, young lady? And it seems you are a new student."

"I'm Monalisa," she replied confidently.

"Ah, Monalisa, you're so quick to respond. I like that. Let's hear your thoughts," Mrs. Felicia said.

Monalisa stood up, confident. "Vicarious liability refers to the situation where one party is held responsible for the actions of another party. For example, an employer might be liable for the actions of an employee."

Sebastian raised his hand, and Mrs. Felicia nodded. "Sebastian, would you like to add to that?"

Sebastian stood up, his eyes sparkling with challenge. "Yes, Professor Felicia. Monalisa's answer is correct, but I'd like to elaborate. Vicarious liability can also apply to agents and principals. If an agent acts on behalf of a principal, the principal can be held liable for the agent's actions."

Monalisa smiled, unfazed by Sebastian's attempt to one-up her. "That's a great point, Sebastian. But what about the exceptions? For instance, if the agent acts outside the scope of their authority, the principal may not be liable."

Sebastian's eyes

Monalisa's smile never wavered. "I understand your point, Sebastian, but I believe my explanation is accurate. Perhaps we can discuss some case studies to illustrate the concept?"

The class erupted into a lively discussion, with students debating and arguing over the finer points of vicarious liability. Mrs. Felicia smiled, pleased with the engagement.

As the class continued, Monalisa and Sebastian continued to debate and discuss the topic, their banter lively and engaging. The class was electric, with students eagerly participating and sharing their insights.

Sara, Joy, Clara, and Elena, seated in the back, watched the exchange with interest. Sara whispered, "Look at them, thinking they're so smart."

Joy nodded in agreement. "Yeah, they're just showing off."

Clara rolled her eyes. "I don't get why they're always so competitive."

Elena chimed in, "I think it's cute. They're like the dynamic duo of Law Finance."

The class concluded, with Mrs. Felicia smiling. "Great job, everyone. Monalisa and Sebastian, you're both doing excellent work. Keep it up!"

The class applauded, and Monalisa smiled, feeling proud of her performance. Sebastian nodded, his expression serious, but a hint of a smile played on his lips.

As they walked out of the classroom, Monalisa felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. She had enjoyed the debate with Sebastian, and she looked forward to their next encounter.

Students poured out of the classroom, chatting and laughing. Monalisa walked down the steel staircase, her eyes fixed on the steps as she navigated the crowded hallway. Sara, flanked by her girls, emerged from the crowd, their designer heels clicking on the metal stairs.

"Oh, look where you're going," Sara sneered, her voice dripping with malice. As Monalisa reached the bottom step, Sara pretended to accidentally bump into her, her hand shooting out to "accidentally" push Monalisa's shoulder.

Monalisa's eyes widened as she felt herself losing balance. She flailed her arms, grasping for the railing, but it was too late. She tumbled forward, her books slipping from her grasp. Time seemed to slow down as she fell.

But just as she thought all was lost, a strong hand grasped her wrist, pulling her back into a firm, warm chest. Monalisa's heart skipped a beat as she felt the gentle yet firm pressure of the stranger's grip. As she looked up, her gaze met piercing blue eyes that sparkled with concern.
