Chapter 5 Chapter 5 We Need to Talk

After finishing a pole dance, Lucy felt much more relaxed. Coupled with the alcohol, her cheeks were flushed, making her look both pure and alluring, attracting many young men to approach her.

Libby handed her a glass of ice water.

"No alcohol?"

"After the divorce, you need to keep a clear mind."

Lucy rolled her eyes at her.

At this moment, Ted walked over. "Lucy, it really is you."

Lucy didn't feel the slightest bit of surprise-they were already divorced. All those times she used to worry about his friends finding out she was having fun and hiding on purpose? She'd completely forgotten about them.

Yet, Jorvik was so small; if she didn't run into them today, sooner or later she would.

"Yes. Are you taken aback?"

"No, it's a pleasant surprise." Ted wasn't lying, his eyes were shining. "Does Bruce know?"

"Do I need to tell him? We're already divorced."

Boom!

Ted felt like his brain had been hit hard. "Divorced?"

Lucy knew that even if she posted the divorce certificate on Twitter right now, no one would believe she actually left Bruce.

It didn't matter; over time, they naturally believed it.

Her phone rang, and Lucy saw it was her grandmother calling. She immediately said to Ted and Libby, "I'm going outside to take a call."

She could disregard Bruce, but she had to care about her grandmother.

Before she could leave, Bruce, who had just asked Ted for the address, walked in.

He seemed to have rushed here; usually dressed impeccably in a suit and tie, with neatly combed hair, now he wasn't wearing a tie, and two buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing tanned skin and a perfectly toned body.

Lucy paused.

This damn man-he looked good in clothes, out of clothes, and even better when he wasn't fully dressed. His usual restrained vibe, mixed with a bit of laziness, made him even more irresistible under the flashing lights.

He saw Lucy and noticed her walking towards him with her phone in hand. The frustration he had felt while speeding there suddenly lifted.

See, she was still the same, rushing towards him whenever they met.

Before Bruce could say in a cold tone, "Come back with me now. I'll pretend the divorce never happened." Lucy, who was indeed walking towards him, passed by him in her high heels without a second glance.

Bruce's eyes widened. Was she. completely ignoring him!?

Lucy spoke to her grandmother for a minute.

The elderly woman missed her; she had been busy with the divorce and hadn't called her all day.

After the call, she turned back towards Nightview, only to find Bruce standing behind her like a guardian deity.

Honestly, Lucy was startled, but she quickly reacted, curling her lips. "What's up?"

This was the phrase Bruce most often used whenever she called him or went to the company to find him.

It lacked any emotion, as if she were a stranger.

Bruce didn't have anything particular to say, but seeing Lucy dressed so revealingly, with her fair skin drawing extra attention, he draped the suit jacket he had retrieved from the car over her shoulders and said, "Let's talk."

Two words represent the rare patience he was showing.

Lucy shrugged off his jacket. "Talk about what? And what status are you using to ask me not to do this? Ex-husband?"
