I felt a bit guilty for some reason as I said, "well, I am still a virgin Lucas and I know it's old fashioned, but as a christian, I believe in marriage before sex."
Lucas looked surprise, "oh!" He exclaimed lowly, looking away from me entirely. "Yes it is unusual that you still think that way in this day and age, but I respect your decision Sophia." I instantly felt relieved. I don't know why I had this feeling that he would get mad. "But," he continued "I've fallen in love with you, so much so that I want us to share that part of ourselves with each other. If marriage is the only obstacle in our way, then lets get married."
My heart stopped and my breath instantly seized. The whole world faded around me in a blur, and all I saw was him repeating the words. "Lets get married Sophia, right away."
Wait, hold on a minute. What the hell is going on? We haven't even dated for up to a month yet, so what's this talk about marriage?
"L-Lucas hold on a minute. Isn't it a little too soon..."
"Don't you love me?" Lucas cut me off, fixing his intense grey eyes on me.
I hesitated. Of course I love him, but we barely know anything about marriage to jump into it without proper preparation. I haven't even met any of his family members yet.
"Lucas, I do love you but..."
"That is all that matters," he cut me off, patting my head gently.
I didn't know what else to say to that and so I just stayed quiet and nodded. Lucas has done so much for me. It won't be fair to him if I said no to marrying him.
"Dress your best tomorrow night, okay. I'll take you to my place. It's time I introduced you to my family."
I forced a smile and nodded again. It's not like I don't want to meet his family, but I think this talk of marriage is too soon. However I was scared to go on protesting. Lucas might take it that I don't love him and point me out as a gold digger, and so I decided to let it go.
Saturday evening, I got dressed as requested by Lucas in a loose flare gown that came all the way to my ankle. I wasn't used to cloths that showed too much skin, so all my clothes were long and covered, but when Lucas came in and saw me, he frown in disapproval at my outfit.
"Is that what you want to wear to the dinner?" Although his tone wasn't harsh, his expression was greatly displeased.
I stared down at myself in distress wondering what was wrong with my outfit. "It is my best dress."
He sighed, "you look beautiful honey, but my mom is not going to approve of my fiancee looking like a beggar." I flinched at the words. He didn't make it sound like an insult, but it still hurt. "Thank God I ordered a dress, because Oliver guessed something like this was going to happen." The door bell rang and he smiled, "that must be the delivery man. Wait here."
He walked to the door and I stood there sulking and trying not to cry, but I convinced myself that he's right. My dress wasn't impressive enough.
Lucas returned with a huge parcel and the excited smile on his face had me forgetting about his earlier unintentional insult.
He put down the parcel on the couch and opened it, bringing out a short red dress with hands that are slightly bigger than straps.
I instantly disliked the dress. It would definitely show too much skin.
Lucas didn't think so, "perfect!" He exclaimed grinning widely as he handed it to me. "Go put it on."
I feebly took the dress from him and returned to my bedroom to put it on. It was way too short for me as it came all the way to my mid thigh, and it showed a tremendous amount of my arm skin.
The worst part of it however was that it was too tight. I could barely breath properly in it.
With some effort, I returned to Lucas. The cloths hugged me too tightly and my fat stomach was pocking out a bit.
I thought Lucas wouldn't like the dress, but he smiled brightly at the sight of me. "Wow honey, you look so perfect in it."
I discreetly tried to pull it down a bit to cover my thigh, but it couldn't come down further.
"L-Lucas, I'm not really sure..."
"Those shoes of yours doesn't match the dress." He picked up another smaller parcel from the couch.
Wait, when did that get there?
Lucas opened it and my eyes widen in horror at the red pair of heels.
No!
No!
God please no!
"I think this are the perfect shoes for your dress."
I shook my head, staring at the heels in horror, "no Lucas, I don't even know how to walk in heels."
He let out an exaggerated sigh, "it's just for the night honey. I don't want my mom to point out any imperfections in my girlfriend."
"B-but I'm not perfect Lucas."
"That's why I am trying to make you perfect. Now sit let me put it on you."
He didn't let any more room for arguments as he gently pushed me to seat on the couch. He took off my black simple cover shoes and replaced them with the red heels. If not for his help, I wouldn't have been able to get up on my own.
Lucas whistled staring me down with a pleasant smile. I seem taller than a while ago. "Woah, I didn't know that you could be this hot honey."
I am glad that he likes it, but I am completely uncomfortable. The heels were already hurting my feet. The dress was tight and showed too much skin.
"I doubt I can walk in this." I admitted looking down at my feet.
Lucas shrugged uncaring, "it's just for the night love. For me okay?"
I nodded with a forced smile. Just endure this for a night Sophia.
You can do it!
