Chapter 4 Angry

Nicholas's POV

Something was off but I couldn't place my hands on it. I could feel it. My wolf just wouldn't stop disturbing me. I had to drown myself in alcohol to be invisible to his words.

"Let's play a game. Truth or dare" Jacob glared at me. I tilted my head to the side. What was this guy trying to do?

"Jake stop your stupid game, we are not here to play" Marcel, my best friend said.

It was the eve before transition day for young werewolves. My friends and I were in the ranch waiting for instructions from the guards on my role tomorrow as heir. I called Marcel to keep me company and he came with my other friends. One of them was Jake.

Last 6 months he had dared me and I did a hostile takeover of his pack and gave it to the beta. It took the intervention of my father and the elders for me to give it back. The recent one was that I had taken his girlfriend. It wasn't exactly my fault.

His girlfriend, the leader of the cheerleading group at school, came up to me. I didn't want to look at her but she begged that I give her bragging rights. While she was kissing me, she took a picture and then Azaria showed up.

I sighed and looked away. Jake was just annoying like a little fly.

"Come on don't try to stop me by saving your buddy, he's weak as fuck. A mummy's boy" he sneered. My eyes snapped to Jake. Oh this asshole is asking for it.

"Jake!" Marcus yelled.

Jake burst into this wicked non rhythmic laughter. "Oh you guys make me sick, always defending him"

I rolled my eyes and cracked my neck. "Is this your way of getting back at me for kissing your girlfriend?"

"You are an asshole"

I snorted. "She's not even beautiful"

"Well is your beautiful or wait you have no mate because you are infertile" Jake burst into laughter.

As those words left Jake's mouth I tightened my grip on the glass. The last thing I wanted was someone who would piss me off now.

Now was not the time. I needed a low profile.

"Come on man stop!" Marcus argued.

No one said a thing as they waited for me to react.

When Jake saw that no one was ready to give him any reply, he began laughing. He kept his gaze on me as he laughed. I squeezed the palms and my ring broke.

I felt a hand on my shoulders, it was Marcel. He pleaded with me silently. I just stared at him. Deep down I knew Jake was trying to test me. He knew because my dad had warned me not to fight till after the transition ceremony.

"What's funny Jake?" I shot him a death stare but that didn't seem to faze him one bit.

"You know why I am laughing" Jake said as he laughed harder.

"Jake will you stop being an asshole?" Marcus glared at him. I tapped my hands on the table.

They could see that I was already boiling. Just one flip and things will be going sour for Jake.

Because I feared that k might not be able to hold it in if Jake didn't stop.

Jake finally stopped laughing. "So after all your glory, you are not going to have a mate. Huh? "He asked me

I scoffed "See who is talking. Wasn't it you a while ago that was shaking like a leaf when you heard "I was with your girlfriend" Marcel burst into laughter while others chuckled. Jake gritted his teeth,

"Well what can I say? You will never be worthy of the crown because you were adopted" he said smugly.

It's been a rumor that I was adopted by my father, because of my looks. This was something his Friends used in teasing him but it had not been said until recently.

I looked at Jake. My nose flared. Marcel looked from me to Jake. I think he was the only one who knew shit was about to get real.

"Alright that's it" I muttered under my breath. Just like a flash, I grabbed Jake by the throat and started squeezing.

"Hey Nicholas let go of him!" Marcel screamed as he tried to push my hands away. The others tried to push Jake away but I just wouldn't budge.

"I'll teach you a very good lesson!" I barked as I kept tightening my grip.

"Nicholas stop, you will kill him" Shane said as he tried pushing me away. By that time, Jake was already turning blue and gasping for breath.

Then I let go and Jake scrambled to the floor, coughing and gasping for breath. I left the room to cool off.

I took a sip of the Vodka and stared out at the animals eating grass.

"Don't let him get to you" I turned to find Marcel. I nodded.

"I know." I muttered. "He's an asshole"

"Yeah... if this escalate your dad will be pissed at you"

Just then a guard walked into the room. He bowed.

"Greetings your highness"

"Alright Sam spit it out" I muttered.

"You are wanted in the palace by your father." He said.

I turned to Marcel and rolled my eyes. "He guess he has"

"There's no time Nicholas, it's Already settled, you will marry Alpha Volcans daughter"

"Dad I can't and I won't" I glared at him.

"You will do as I say boy!" Dad barked. "I didn't work my ass off to get the Volcans hope up. You will marry his daughter and that's final!!"

"I said no" I slammed my fist on the table.

"You think I didn't hear of what you did this afternoon? You rascal. "He gritted his teeth.

"Maximus!" I turned to see my mother at the door.

"Linda, stay out of this!" He yelled. I glared into my dad's eyes. The man I have tried my best to please. It's a pity I wasn't wearing some goody two shoes. I make my own rules.

"You have no mate! You make trouble! You play around with women. Tell me what you are good at, Nicholas Sinclair!"

I clenched my fist and looked away. "I don't want a mate dad"

"Why?"

"I have my reasons"

"You disgust me," he spat. "If you don't marry the Volcans you are setting our pack up for a war!"

Immediately the door opened again. It was Ashley.

"Dad the rogues attacked during the transition ceremony. Wolves have gone missing" she cried out.

"What?" Dad grabbed his keys. "Where's my beta!"

"Azaria was kidnapped too yesterday" Ashley sobbed.

What? My mate was gone. No way.

I dashed out of the room and straight to my car. "Marcel meet me at the pack boundary gate" I growled into my phone.

"Nicholas, where are you going! It's dangerous" I could hear mum's voice but It was already late.

No wonder my wolf couldn't let me be all day.
