Chapter 4 A Hard Decision

Sofia's POV

I stood at the kitchen island, holding a cup of coffee in my hand as I went through the file David had sent through my email. It looked normal and I wondered why he wanted me to deal with the project.

Nancy had told me all about the team he had gotten to do the project, now, why Jacobs? He hadn't spoken about the night we had years ago and I don't think he recognized me because we were both drunk, or so I thought.

"Mama!" I heard Jason's voice from up the stairs, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"What is it, honey?" I asked him, leaning over the island top as he walked over to me with my phone in hand. "What are you doing with my phone?"

"I invited the handsome uncle we met at the airport for dinner," Jason declared, sliding my phone over to me as I choked on my coffee, hurriedly picking up my towel to cover my mouth.

Thankfully, it didn't spill all over. "I never gave you the permission to do that," I yelled at him and he looked at me with a mischievous smile on his face. "I never told you I'll be making dinner."

I turned over to look at the time and it was past 6 pm and we had already had dinner. "I am not making another dinner," I said to him but he just stared at me like I hit him.

"Yeah, I know." He shrugged, turning his back on me.

"Jason Jacobs," I called out to him and he stopped in his tracks, slowly turning to look at me, knowing I only called him that way when I was angry. "I never asked you to call him over to dinner. He is my potential client and I want to keep a strict relationship with him."

"Getting married to him won't hurt right?" Jason said with a sly smile before rushing up the stairs and just then, I heard the doorbell ring.

The maid headed to the door and from the corner of my eyes, I saw Jason peeking from up the stairs. "How may I help you?" I heard the maid's voice which made me walk over to the waiting hall just to see the long-haired man standing at the door with grocery bags.

"I'm here for Jason Jacob." His calm voice said to the maid and she glanced to look back at me where I leaned against the wall, still holding my cup of coffee.

My eyes met with David's and I wondered why a cold, arrogant, and prideful man like him would want to act this way towards a kid he wasn't even sure if he was his or not.

"Big uncle." I heard Jason's squeal as he rushed down the stairs to the door, pushing past the maid. "You're here, thank goodness. Mama said she won't make dinner for us, and she doesn't know we have a backup plan."

I looked at the duo and seeing he was the only one here, I assumed he was here to cook for his new little friend.

"If you guys burn down my house, you're dead." I threatened, walking back to the kitchen where I was standing, and David walked in with Jason, looking around the penthouse with so much interest.

"You like it, big uncle? Mama designed it. She's a pretty good designer." Jason said, forcing himself up one of the counter chairs as David placed the grocery bags on the island.

"It's beautiful." He complimented his gaze on me. Ignoring him, I turned back to the contract I was reading on my iPad.

I knew this wasn't the best time to talk about business so I just kept quiet, not paying attention to any of them. "Mommy, why don't you leave the kitchen for Uncle?"

"I-i" Before I could say a word, David turned me to face him, his touch on my uncovered waist sending sparks through my body. "What are you doing?" With a swift motion, he lifted me, effortlessly seating me on the island. He lifted me like I weighed nothing and I was shocked.

A smile played at the corner of his lips before turning his back. "You seem to be working, so we won't disturb you."

I didn't know why I felt all fuzzy inside as I looked at his backside view, getting out a few things from the storage space. Who comes to people's houses and starts cooking like he's been here for an eternity.

"Why exactly are you here?" I asked him as he walked over to me, pulling open the drawer next to my leg. "You can't just come over to my house to cook for my son."

"He requested it." He replied, Jason, handing him the chopping board as he started to set out the ingredients he would be using. "And besides, you have to admit you love having me here after you disappeared that morning after taking advantage of me."

"Taking advantage of you? What on earth are you talking about? If we're talking about anyone taking advantage of the other, you took advantage of me." I screamed but my voice was still in a whisper to avoid Jason who was getting him stuff with the maid's help.

"You asked me to spend the night with you after you were drunk and I couldn't resist such beauty." He said with a smirk, pushing my legs wide open, making me freeze but he only pulled the drawer between my legs open, picking out the knife.

What on earth was I thinking about? And why would he do that? "Are you insane?!" I glared at him through gritted teeth and he chuckled.

I was stunned by the way we were both talking like we've known each other for years now. "I don't want to have anything to do with you except business, David."

"Your expressions when I look at you say otherwise." He teased, not looking in my direction as he started to chop the onions in his hand at a speed I wouldn't even try unless I wanted to cut my fingers off.

"You're so full of yourself, David Beckham," I called out but he didn't say a word and just focused on what I was reading on my iPad, still sipping my coffee.

I was soon lost in my reading and I was pulled back by the sweet aroma from where he was cooking. I never expected the spoiled rich billionaire would be a very good cook. I started to salivate just at the scent of the food but I gathered myself, trying to focus but it was impossible.

"Go clean up, Jason, and come down to have dinner." He said to Jason who immediately turned to do as he was asked.

"You can't be serious," I yelled looking back at my obedient son. "Why do I always have to scream before you do that but now he tells you and you're leaving?"

Jason turned back to look at me and then at David before they both spoke. "It's just bro code."

"Do you even know what that means?" I asked him in shock but he didn't reply and just walked up the stairs.

"Are you jealous our son listens to me and not you?" He said, handing me a small bowl of food.

"Who told you he's yours?" I asked him and he did the same thing as earlier with my legs but this time, he placed both his hands by my waist, a smirk on his face.

"I guess you owe me a favor for giving you a son as handsome as I am." His tone was laced with mischief as he lifted my chin. "Be my woman."
