Chapter 2 ii

I got into my car after having it returned this morning before I woke up. I sped out of the mansion compound and into the busy streets caring less about the dangers I was in.

I was going to pick up a box of pastries from my favorite sweet treat dealer, visit my nail tech to book a session and then go to the company.

I had to meet a few clients today, the last one over dinner after I was done with Madison.

My family's company had always been the one thing they Adored, well after me. It started off as a small stall where dad helped shop owners maintain their insurance, help them book rebuild and renovations plans. If anyone had problems with land, they always came to him.

Then he decided to make it bigger, added a few more sections, one of which I handle, event planning and others, I was particularly great with Wedding parties. The cake preparations and everything.

"I wish that's all I had to do and not think about getting married," I thought out loud, driving into the parking lot under the company.

I stepped out and handed my bags and keys to my bodyguard,

"Good morning Isabella ," Ryker greeted and began walking off as usual without waiting for me to say anything.

Ryker Leron, the only man I'd happily have dinner with and not feel awkward or indepted to him. He has been with me since birth and became my bodyguard when II clocked thirteen while he was eighteen and since then he's always been by my side.

He was a distang, Introverted kind of guy, he hated people and was also scared of talking to people, except myself and dad. He only said few words to people.

But getting to know him, he was a fun person, always seeing the bad side of everything and had a perfect dark humor. These few days, he's been a little off, since his girlfriend cheated and he broke up with her. I tried to find him a new girl but no one could replace the last.

And I couldn't even offer myself, we were like siblings and he loves me too much to date me.

"Ryker!" I yelled now realizing I was thinking for too long.

I rushed over to his side and blocked his path, causing him to glare hard at me.

"Don't look at me like that"

"Like what? You're standing in front of a six foot ten man who will move you like a ping pong ball, isn't that worrisome?"

Okay, This is the Ryker I know.

"You can't move me, I am your boss"

"Oh really"

"Yes, I dare you to move me" I was playing with fire now, and I was loving it. Times with him like this are always the best, and this is what I need right now.

"Alright" Ryker lifted me up by my waist, and threw me over his shoulders, he used his hands to hold my dress down. To avoid any mistakes, then he removed a scarf from his pocket and covered my thighs finally before walking out of the parking lot.

"Put me down" I squirmed, playful hitting him and kicking my feets.

"Apologies Isabella but no, if I drop you, then everyone will see everything, so be a good girl amd wait till we get to your office" He uttered lowly and then kept a stoic face wgile walking into the company.

I just stayed still and waved at the workers when we passed, giving them a 'It's not what you think' look. And thank the universe for good people, they understood because I kept no secret of my relationship with Ryker.

____

"You're going to be the death of me someday" Ryker said as he dropped me on my desk, he dropped my bag in my lap and his scarf on my head, covering my face in the process.

"At least I got to make you smile again" I said to him, a shy smile appearing on his face, he sat down on a couch across my office, took off his vest and layed on the chair, his long legs extending out and touching the wall.

"Yeah whatever, Hurry up with your work, I need food and you're paying for my personal table,"

"You're joking right?"

He turned to look at me with a sinister smirk and I already knew what was going on in his mind. "If I don't get what I want I uploading our baby pictures to the world, including the one you shaved your hair"

"You can't do that"

" I have access to everything my dear, I'm a big guy and I'm having a large dinner today, also, I'll scare off any man that tries to get your number"

"Fine" I said and got of the table, I got behind my table, turned off my computer and waited for it to completely booting. While Ryker put on his earpods and closed his eyes, listening to whatever he was in peace.

One thing I envied about him was he only had one thing to do. Protect me. Asides that, he only had to help send pastries I baked to those who ordered, pick up kids from the company's daycare. Everyone practically Adored him.

He only spends his time, driving around aimlessly, watching movies, horror to be precise and eating at anytime.

Complete traits of an introvert and I could never have that.

I sighed and faced my work, hoping time would go past and I could meet Madison and we could hang out and talk over dinner because I need it more than anything.

____

"Werewolves don't exist" I told Ryker as we walked out of the company. He had to bring up something that had to do with mythological creatures and the one he had to believe was Werewolves...not demons or Angels but wild freaking dogs.

"They do, Maybe during your vacation, I'll take you for camping and we'll look for some"

"Aren't they dangerous?"

"Offcourse they are, an maybe just maybe, one will pique interest in you and then mark you as his mate, that's a great news for me and for you."

"How?" I asked getting into the car, while Ryker got in the driver seat, still talking.

"Well, If a Werewolf sees you as his mate and marks you, that means you both have been fated together by the awesome moon goddess and God, as for me, I get to have everything I want because I am your brother and your werewolf husband would want to make me happy so you will be happy" He explained and started the engine, with a joyful smile on his face.

"You look like you know it's going to happen" I scoffed, raising a bottle water to my lips to quench my thirst since I forgot all thanks to him.

"My gut tells me, you will be the first human girl I know to be mated to a Werewolf, based on my dreams, he will pose to be a human and somehow you'll be the destined one to thaw his frozen heart"

He can't be serious, It's impossible.

One thing I've learnt while with Ryker was that his dreams and gut feelings are always eighty five percent accurate, the last time I did not believe I was shocked to the bone and now this.

"Ryker please, that is an expensive joke?"

"Let's make a bet then, If what I say comes to pass, then you owe me a platinum card and a new car, if it doesn't happen then you have my position and I will do all your work and attend your blind dates"

"Alright, it's a deal" I said and shook hands with him to seal the deal, facing the road to think of what he had said.

Werewolves would never exist, and even if they did,I would never be mated to one, not in the life I the next. 'Horrifying beings, never'

We arrived at a restaurant that I booked personally for myself and Madison, we loved having our meals alone where no one would walk up to ask requesting phone numbers or our names.

Ryker and I alighted the car, he walked behind me, scanning the environment carefully. Once we got in, he asked the security men to keep the door locked at all times, till we were ready to leave.

I saw Madison at the end of the room, doing something with her phone, beautiful as usual in her white suit and brown shoulder length hair.

"Madison..." I called softly, walking up to where she sat, a smile appeared on her face, she dropped her phone and embraced me, hugging me like we hadn't seen the day before. "I can't breath."

I uttered tapping her back, he withdrew and glanced behind me, a deep frown forming on her face.

"Do you have to bring your bodyguard boyfriend with you? He's creeping me out"

"He is not my boyfriend, more of a brother but yes, i have to," I turned around gesturing to Ryker to come, he strode over, glaring hard at Madison.

Yes, they were Mortal enemies, reasons, he ruined her prom dress and cake on her eighteenth birthday.

"Order some food for yourself, and yes you are off duty for tonight," I said and he smiled.

"Thank you," he mouthed and walked over to the other table, close to the windows. He called a waiter over made his order while Madison and I settled in.

"So how is husband hunting going?"

"Please I'm the one being hunted instead, I have turned down ten men this month and it's not even the end of the month" I told her, leaning on one of my hands while I stylishly looked at the menu deciding what to eat.

"Then pick one already, there are thousands of wealthy good looking men out there"

"Madison I don't want that, good-looking yes, but if that man cannot match or stand up to Ryker then I refuse to marry him. Besides I don't like anyone of them"

She stared at me in disbelief and then smiled "Why don't you marry Ryker then?"

"He's like a brother to me, we're too close to even think about dating" I answered, marking down what I decided to order. Oven baked chicken and rice, then with red wine and a small bowl of ice cream.

"Isabella ," she dragged my name, leaning closer, "You either marry him or reject men till you're thirty"

"Like I said I won't marry Ryker, I'd rather die single than marry anyone that isn't matured enough"

"Well suits you.Waiter!"

She yelled calling a waiter to come attend to our orders.

_____

"Ryker, can we go now?" I dragged, leaning against the table, my hair sprawled outward some stands threatening to go into his food.

Sometimes Ryker can be a Stick in the butt sometimes, He just had to order food when Madison and I finished. He had the audacity to order a three course meal, Fish soup, Rice and fried chicken, chocolate cake for dessert and then wine.

And he just had to be on the second course, feeding me little bits of food when he decided to tease me.

"Open wide," He said, holding a spoon of rice to my mouth, I raised my head up to look at him, glaring hard before eating off the spoon. He gave a short chuckle and sipped his wine, not taking his eyes off me.

"Let's go, It's getting late and mom will flip when she finds out I was actually out with my bodyguard," I said, sitting up now, stretching out my arms with a low yawn escaping my lips.

"Let her think whatever, You haven't been out late before and you hardly treat yourself, So take this as a blood moon moment," He stated pouring wine into a glass for me, he pushed the glass over to me, calling the waiter over to order more food.

I stared at him in disbelief knowing I would regret eating whatever the waiter would bring, especially when the food is so tasty and irresistible.

"Ryker," I whispered, trying to make him change his mind, but he didn't respond; he only spoke to the waiter and then faced me with a harmless smile.

"I hate you so much" I mouthed, earning a soft chuckle from him. I dropped my head on the table preparing my stomach for the second meal we would be having tonight.

I then raised my head to ask Ryker something about his ex-girlfriend when a man in a slick polished suit walked up to us with a supposed charming smile, probably what other girls would think.

"What do you want?" Ryker's voice resounded in the restaurant, now turning stern and deep laced with irritation. He already activated guard mode faster than how Icut calls.

"Good evening, Miss Shaw"

Okay, Disrespectful. No one ignores Ryker. No one at all.

"Didn't you see him?" I gestured at Ryker who sat glaring daggers at the man. To be honest I could feel the ground vibrating with how angry Ryker was. He absolutely hates being ignored.

"Of Course I did and he is irrelevant, I came here for you. I am Luke Adams, Your mother's very good friend and client"
